    • At the top of Langfoss...
    This is part two of episode one where I visit Langfoss in Etne (Hordaland) Norway. In this episode I focus on panoramas during the sunset and the sunrise.
    It's time to launch a new series: Norwegian waterfalls / Running Waters. In this first episode I travel to the top of the 7th highest waterfall in Norway: Langfoss. This waterfall is considered to be one of Norway's most beautiful waterfalls, and according to BBC; Langfoss is one of the world's top ten waterfalls. I grab my camera, tent and sleeping bag and find out what the fuss is all about.

      oddbjørn austevik foto. I went all over. After spending 4 beautiful days in Oslo I gradually travelled south and followed the coast until I got to Tromso. Then back to Bergen and east. I stopped in a sleepy little place called Lillehammer for a few days. I believe it has changed a bit since then! Back to Oslo then London, where I used to live.

      Some of us aren't morning people. I'm not always and sometimes I am . Here in Arizona, US you need to rise early or get cooked. Morning is always better at anytime of the year. When I(rarely) do it, I'm always happy to be out there. To add: I always sleep like a rock when I'm camping, but when I camp after a stressful week I might do 12 hrs.

    Oddbjorn, I don't know which I liked more - the location, the camping, the hiking, the photography or the videoing and editing. My last two vlog episodes and the next I will probably post today or tomorrow are all from a boat. While this is fun and different for me, I miss the peacefulness of the woods and the journey aspect. A couple things in my life right now (all positive) are preventing me from getting away and camping. I must be patient, but in the meantime, I can watch your adventures. Best, Dave

    Hi Oddbjorn, I guess I've been an errant subscriber lately and haven't watched your vlogs for a while. But wow! You've really come up to a higher level in your whole presentation style. More relaxed, more personal, better music, better filming, better flow, and nice to see your quirky personality coming through. . . . . . . . . BTW, I live in Sweden and I have the same sweater as you - - - that Ullvang mid-layer gray one. It's a fav!. Oddbjørn, I got inspiration from your video and today on 10.July.2021, I climbed all the way up to the top of Langfossen. It was only me in humans there at that time and I stayed there for couple of hours. Beauty of nature was beyond to explain. That place has some magic. So beautiful and surprising . When I reached top of 612M height mountain, astonished to see plain surface with large river flowing there which is ending as Langfossen. Another mountain was about to start on the top of that mountain. It was something unbelievable. I appreciate you that you spent night there. Otherwise I think it is dare to challenge that environment. Everything there is so natural and lovely that it is truly mind blowing.
    If anyone has experience to travel from there til onward , please share your experience. I could see that there was a point on west side of top from where river was coming. what is more on that side? where that way leads to? any other point?

      Congratulations Moazzam! Incredible. Glad I could inspire. Beyond what you describe lies a cottage from DNT. The Norwegian tourist association. You can borrow it and sleep there if you want. It is a hike I am planning to take at some point. It’s been a long time since I’ve been inwards those mountains, but it is incredible beautiful and the fishing is great 🙂

    A wonderful place and awesome experience. The light was wonderful and your images were fantastic. I did have a question though about doing a pano of bracketed exposures. I suppose you combined the brackets and made the HDR first and then stitched them into pano? Did you fully process the HDR images before the pano or stitch the pano then adjust? I have never made a pano from several HDR images so I was curious how you did that.

    • @oddbjrnaustevikfoto
      @oddbjrnaustevikfoto  6 лет назад

      Many thanks Philip. I did yes. I took 12 images and made those into 4 main images. So I made 4 HDR's, made sure they looked generally the same exposure wise, and stitched them together into a panorama. Afterwards I started tweaking the image. This process works really really well!

  • @UCreations
    @UCreations 6 лет назад

    Wonderful panorama's! I never use Grad ND filters: just make HDR's and add a gradient in Lightroom. This way I can control (with the brush) exactly where I want to let the gradient work.
    Great storytelling by the way.

    • @oddbjrnaustevikfoto
      @oddbjrnaustevikfoto  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you very much. I try to use grads whenever I can. But I don't have a wide selection of filters to choose from, so many times I need to bracket anyway and do what you describe :) The main reason I try to use grads is that it kinda gives a feeling of building or crafting the image on site. I like that feeling! :)

  • @Snowcatnz2

    Awesome video Oddbjorn. The images were magical, but moreover, your passion really came through, the whole being at one with the environment around you. I have a technical question for you. Do you find the Micro 4/3 system limiting in any way? You hear so much talk that landscape photography can only really be done on Full Frame cameras, so, I was just wondering what your thoughts were on the matter!! Tim :)

    • @oddbjrnaustevikfoto
      @oddbjrnaustevikfoto  6 лет назад

      Hi Tim and thanks a lot. Appreciate the extremely kind words.
      To answer your question. No, not so far. I am fairly certain that there is a very good reason why people swear to use those expensive Canons and Nikons. For stills they are most likely better. I don't have much experience using full frame cameras, so I can't really compare it micro 4/3. Main reason I stick to Panasonic is the superb video quality (among other things) as I work with video mostly. I can say however that I am very happy with the stills quality. Massive bump up from the GH4. What exactly do they say is limiting with micro 4/3? Thanks again mate!

    • @Snowcatnz2
      @Snowcatnz2 6 лет назад +1

      Well, apparently the theory is that smaller sensors can't handle low light or dynamic range. My answer to that would (considering I myself use a crop sensor canon) would be to bracket my exposures. But I'm not convinced that the newer smaller sensors can't handle the low light, from examples I've seen (including yours) they can handle anything thrown at them.

    • @oddbjrnaustevikfoto
      @oddbjrnaustevikfoto  6 лет назад

      If I'm worried that that could be an issues, I always bracket just to be safe! Usually though, I find that there was no need to bracket and that the most balanced image works well enough :) With todays cameras the difference gets smaller and smaller i reckon.

    • @Snowcatnz2
      @Snowcatnz2 6 лет назад

      I reckon your right, all you have to do is look at the images coming from Olympus Panasonic, Fuji, and I almost feel Full Frame is losing it's hold, especially if you take weight into consideration. My only issue is I have so much money invested in my Canon even though it's Crop Sensor, that it's very hard to justify the change.
