Remember buying this tape out of his car in the late 70s or early 80 in north Platte Nebraska, at the buffalo bill rodeo, drank beer and had a great night.

My husband and I rent a property from the songwriter, Gary McMahan. We live right next door. There's a fabulous mural that can been seen on top of a building in downtown Denver that's a portrait of Gary complete with hat, mustache and guitar. I don't mean to say that Chris isn't, but Gary is truly the real thing, cowboy through and through. I had to learn early on that women don't talk back.

Hey man, count those blessings, At least an 8 track had the material to stand the Storm....But every time I throw a cassette in, I always wonder if that filament is gonna come shooting back out at me.....Ya know, I have found very few reasons for the World Wide Web, to feel beneficial......But, I can say now, That at least I can get to Ledoux, without worry,s of my tape,s. Those were the days tho, Yeah? Back in the before Compact Disc,s!

16,809 views for Chris; 203 views for the guy that wrote the song, Gary McMahon. I love Chris' music. He did a great job on the song. Also covered by Ian Tyson. Not to take anything away from Chris, but, come on, how about some appreciation for the writer? Kind of like Joan Baez doing a Bob Dylan song, but in a cowboy audience.

Terrific, just sorry he made a significant change in the lyrics from, “I got this saddle, and it ain’t for sale.”
“Sold his saddle” is a cowboy expression filled with meaning.
