WATCH LIVE: Johnny Depp v Amber Heard Defamation Trial Day 23-Amber Heard Testifies-Counter Rebuttal

  • Published on May 25, 2022
  • LIVE COVERAGE: Johnny Depp v Amber Heard Defamation Trial
Actor Johnny Depp is suing ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million for defamation in connection with Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed, in which she spoke out about being the victim of domestic violence. Heard’s article did not specifically name Depp as her alleged abuser, but according to Depp’s lawsuit, it relied “on the central premise that Ms. Heard was a domestic abuse victim and that Mr. Depp perpetrated domestic violence against her.” Amber Heard is counter-suing Depp for $100 million.
The defamation trial began Monday in Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia, with jury selection completing on the same day. There is a possibility of celebrity witnesses testifying, including James Franco and Elon Musk. Tune in to the Law&Crime Network for daily coverage of this high-profile trial.

I have not seen anyone mentioned this but I noticed she only “cries” when her lawyers are questioning her. She doesn’t cry when it’s other lawyers. That’s strange. When you’re a real victim and you’re really traumatized, it’ll come out no matter who the lawyer is.

Thank you!! I’ve noticed the little liar doing that too. When Johnny’s lawyers are questioning her, she is usually irate. Oh Whitney sure is giving some dirty ole crustiest from the sidelines… Yikes! I’m assuming because she can no longer freeload. Or perhaps it’s because Johnny said he felt sorry for her. I get what he was saying though. I bet it’s a B to have Scam-ber as a sister…. 🙄😝😏

This is the first time I've devoted my life in a celebrities' trial like this. I've been sitting in my bedroom for 7 hours every night watching every single trial and I haven't missed any. Now I'm sad that it's coming to an end, isn't that weird? Haha.

What I learnt in this whole trial:
    • Judge Penney is a reminder that no matter what the situation is, patience is helpful
    • Uncle Ben's facial expressions are actual representations of me when I hear someone supports Amber. 😳
    • Johnny hates Mr Rottenborn - he's not the only one
    • Elaine tried 👏🏻
    • Amica cream - Still trying to find that one
    • Camille is a human version of a lie detector test
    • Johnny is very proud when Mr Rottenborn reads right ✔️
    • Johnny signed 4 times ☝🏻
    • Amber doesn't swell - move over Gal Gadot, new Wonder woman in town
    • We need a psychiatrist after watching Dr Spiegal - remember, the psychiatrist 🥴
    • Dr Curry is goals
    • "Mega PINT" is my new favorite term when referring to a need for coffee 🍷☕️
    • Objection, Hearsay, Speculation are words that hold the MOST power.
    • Amber Heard is the only person to cry without tears and will get rid of the invisible tears by wiping the forehead
    And last but not least....
    • Amber wrote the Op-Ed. That was an oops moment though 🤫 dont tell anyone. -Monique Eybers

    Bruhh she’s actually infuriating.
“I just want to tell my story” “i want my voice to be heard”??!?!
The past few years all we (the public) have heard is HER side. HER voice. This is the actual first time in that court house that we have actually heard HIS voice tell HIS side of the story. I have honestly heard enough of her explaining the same script of what happened, let me get both sides of the sorry for once.
“i just want johnny to leave me alone”?! Absolutely no one told her to publicize every single detail of her divorce and relationship with him. Literally having your team collaborate with TMZ to document the whole divorce and more. How is that wanting to be left alone? Amber, you were the one who didn’t leave johnny alone, not him.

I remember a few days ago when Camille said: "You wanted to be seen as a noble victim of domestic violence."
Amber adamantly replied: "I have never, never wanted to be seen as a victim. Nor have I ever called myself one."
Yet whenever she takes a stand she goes overboard to play the part of a victim. When she starts talking at around 3:19:05. Almost to the point of crying. Good job trying not to look like a victim, you poor, poor girl...

    • Bill Tavis
      Bill Tavis 3 months ago

it would have been much more effective for Camille to accuse her of wanting to be a "noble SURVIVOR of domestic violence" which is essentially saying the same thing but cuts the legs out from Amber's manipulative response.

@Derp Y-Derp I’m siding with Johnny not because of who is but because as a paralegal and long time law student I see her allegations as improbable, the recordings and time line of events disturbing and I see her clearly exploiting the Me Too movement to further her career. It’s biased of you to make such a comment because not all Depp supporters are supporting him because he’s a celebrity. Cop on. Oh and lest we forget…. pledge and donate are not synonymous. I watched the Danish TV episode. She came here to Europe to lie to us. She lies. If you can’t see or comprehend that you’ve a bias and a very unfair one at that.

@Shannon Beckrow actually in the second paragraph she blatantly states "And I didn’t see myself as a victim."
And the word victim only appears once in the entire piece, as quoted here.
I know she's being considered an all round whacko but it's not cool that people on the internet just make up their own facts along the way. That's spreading misinformation and just plain unfair.

Personally I thought it was hilarious that her one witness, I think it was the acting coach? Said she had problems crying while acting. She then said AH isn't a method actor, meaning she doesn't rely on her personal emotional experiences to compel her presentation.
In theory, a person with lacking empathy skills or a personality disorder with apathy features would struggle with method acting because something like tears would come from feeling the emotions from those trauma moments.
AH is simply confirming on the stand that her actions skills got emotions/crying suck, and provided her own witnesses to confirm.
As someone on spectrum, I've had to make a concentrated effort to learn how people express emotions in order to successfully navigate. I work in human behavior analysis at this point in my life, so I see this stuff fairly often too. For a long time, people thought people like me had no empathy... But as we flexed and grew the ability to express ourselves in more recognizable ways, it revealed that we have empathy, we just have difficulty with emotional interpretation from visual cues. Thing is? The spectrum person can learn it as a skill, essentially, whereas antisocial personality disorders among others have an inherent limit with emotional capacity, leading to a primarily apathetic perspective. Her crying looks to me like the attempt of someone with limited apathy having studied facial expressions of the incredibly sad or sorrowful and is attempting to mimick. It has no natural flow to it, coming across close to a sneer. While this is also possible with ASD facial expressions, the difference is that when the cognizant autist is able to adjust and normalize over time, where the apathetic state of severe personality disorders would more likely assume their first try is convincing enough.

As a survivor of some very extreme DV, this trial was incredibly painful to watch. I feel like those of us who have been through it often have an acute ability to recognize if someone has experienced the trauma of domestic violence. It hurts to know that the lies Amber has told have potential to regress the progress DV survivors have made. I know there are thousands like me who have followed this trial, and know the feeling I’m talking about, and if any of you are reading this comment, You’re not alone with these complicated feelings. So many of us who have been through it have had to suffer with not being believed, which is traumatic in itself. I feel a sense of guilt for not believing Amber, but the truth is so clearly written in this case, that it’s impossible to believe otherwise. Take care of yourselves, do something that makes you happy, no matter how small. Amber Heard does not speak for us, she does not represent us, she is not the face or the voice of domestic violence survivors.

I know if I was on the jury, one lie about an abusive episode would make me think she was lying about all. Clearly she was lying about JD holding her down on the bar and repeatedly punching her in the face while wearing rings. Funny thing is, if she had stuck to saying he slapped her, which is still DV, she would've had a pretty believable case given how awful they were verbally to one another. But no, she had to over exaggerate all of the encounters which make her non credible.

Amber was Blackmailing Johnny. Consider the Following..: 1) When her demands are not met, she goes for a bizarre restraining order, knowing that Johnny was out of town and would be out of the country for several months. 2) She lets the TMZ know that she was going to court for restraining order, and even provides direction what side of her face should be photographed. 3) She and her team also provide the TMZ with the video of Johnny. 4) After receiving the $7,000,000 divorce settlement, she still continues to extort money from Johnny. 5) She asks for three penthouses, the cars, and $50,000 a month. 6) She makes fun of Johnny for even thinking of going to court. 7) She decides "MeToo Movement", her acting skills, and dishonest lawyers like Rotten born and Crazy Elaine will help her to fool the Jury...!!!

The campaign that has been launched against Amber is not about siding with Johnny. She made multiple false statements under oath and thus committed perjury. Her allegations were not backed by any strong evidence and even worse her psychologist tried to manipulate evidence. Simply, she was in a position to manipulate the jury with her falsehoods and her incessant attempts to give indirect answers during cross examination.
I am well aware that some will argue that public’s hostility towards Amber, is damaging for victims of domestic violence generally but here the view can be taken that she is not a representative of true cases of domestic violence. Her lies including the ones related to donations, her attempt to always doubt the credibility of witnesses who do not side with her and her behaviour in court and smirking while Johnny was on the stand as a witness, are very revealing. Hopefully the jury will be able to return a verdict that is based on evidence only not on feelings of empathy towards women who are typical victims of domestic violence because men too can be victims.

The forensic psychologist was being very unprofessional, she was answering the defense as if the question was a personal attack on her rather than a justified clarification of the facts. She needs to keep her anger in check, she's on the stand for goodness sake, keep it professional, it is the defense's job to discredit or point out loop holes to a witness' testimony, don't make it personal.

@Rae Quinn she may not have directly said it, but using common sense, that is exactly what she is saying. For ex, she claims morgan knight wasn’t there when he testified that he was. That would be her saying that he is lying about being being there aka calling him a liar, it’s the same thing. What’s funny is that the only liar exposed in this trial is amber herself, for ex she claimed johnny pushed kate moss down the stairs when kate moss testified herself that that was false. She also claimed that’s she doesn’t know how to leak stuff but then contradicts herself and admits that if she wanted to leak stuff she could do it. What’s sad is that the list goes on and on and it’s disgusting.

That’s the thing with acting…they only film BRIEF scenes & then cut for a bit. So maintaining a role *constantly* for many consecutive hours a day for many days in a row *is NOT* something actors do or are used to. So being an actor & thus *conditioned* to only maintain character for brief period of time actually works *against* her.🤷🏻‍♀️ Also the reason she could maintain “character” the vast majority of time while being questioned by her lawyers is bc in order for their client to not be surprised on the stand lawyers “prep” their client for hours or even days before taking the stand. So basically she got to practice her “role” prior to performing. However…she couldn’t practice what Johnny’s lawyers would ask/do on cross examination. And apparently she lack the mental ability to both continue playing her victim “role” & concentrate on keeping her lies straight when being cross examination.

As a domestic violence victim, I can say that she is lying, faking emotions, and just being arrogant... her body language is more than enough for her to be exposed.
Domestic violence victims live in constant fear, they never put themselves in any kind of danger, like making video recordings of the aggressor, or aggravating any uncomfortable situation.
Domestic violence victims DON'T do any of the things she did, because those who really go through that sad experience just want to stay quiet, and escape the hostile situation they're in... they don't have the energy, time, or boldness for these kind of things.
She did the opposite, she recorded, provoked, she didn't run away... because she really wasn't afraid of anything.
She wasn't victim of domestic violence, she's being victim of her own greed. She wants money, fame, and someone who will get those for her in an easier way.
It's just sad that someone plays around with something so serious, while those who really know how it feels, watch all this.

My niece once ran against the corner of a countertop when she was exactly head height with it (running too fast and didn't turn fast enough). She got a cut in her forehead as a result. The nurse used butterfly closures on it. I'm surprised nobody asked the obvious question of whether the bar countertop was beveled and to what extent. If his fingertip was resting on the edge, and the cut was predominantly from below, then it stands to reason most of the cutting action came from the bar edge. The weight of the half-gallon bottle merely served the function of a hammer not as a blade.

@Djo-Dji After Wayne Dennison, I think that Ben Rottenborn has had the best trial out of all of them.
Vasquez and Bredehoft have gotten a ton of attention, but they have both had some *bad* moments and each got run over by a witness.

Amber's lawyers are just doing their job. And they are pretty good considering the difficult, mostly guilty client they are trying to help.

Watching Amber state that she does not remember photos submitted into evidence by HER OWN legal team is all the proof we need that the MULTIVERSE exists!!! We must be watching the testimony from Earth 828 Amber today...

How does she not understand how she’s coming off? It’s so blatantly obvious she’s lying and pandering to the jury.
She’s literally demonstrating everything she’s trying to deny. I’m really having a hard time understanding how she or her lawyers thought this was the way to handle it

I'm getting tired of all of AH's lawyers starting all their questioning of JD's expert witnesses with " how much are you being paid to provide your expertise today"? Like that matters. They are certainly paying their expert witnesses as well. 🙄

Does it bother anyone else how “emotional” Dr. Hughes seems when testifying her rebuttal? She seems so overly defensive of her “research” or “testing”. It’s almost like she’s making her opinions on personal experience..

She's talking about all of these issues she has and that her friends have all these rules, etc., yet they never mentioned any of that while they were on the stand, neither did she until today. The threats need to stop. Her baby should NEVER be brought into this.

amazing, I have never seen someone hysterically crying just 5 minutes after sitting and laughing with her lawyers and not being able to produce a single tear. either she is the dryest person on earth and water does not exude from her body or she is a terrible actress that had just as bad of a performance as she did in Aquaman, also amazing that as soon as her lawyer stopped asking the questions she was able to "keep it together" and not cry at all

Ms. Vasquez questioning Ms. Heard must have been one of the most "savage" things I've ever seen on RUclips.
Tearing down the lies, piece by piece, question by question and with excellent precision.
On one hand I'm fascinated by Ms. Vasquez, on the other hand she can be quite scary.
Overall Mr. Depp has surrounded himself with a team of utmost professionalism, both in regards to the lawyers, as well as other employees, going by the testimonies.
I'm very interested in seeing how the jury decides on this case.
Of course, as everyone else, I have my own opinion, but the final verdict is all that matters, not what I or others not involved in the case believe.
Let us hope that justice prevails, based on the evidence presented.

I am genuinely sorry for both sides, and that they have to go through all this. The only people that this show will benefit are lawyers.

Does she have the super power of spitting out unlimited lies and forever pretending to be a victim? Must be so exhausting! Everything that is happening to you is cause by your own actions Amber. Not because what anyone did to you, but because of your own actions, reactions and behavior. Please just be a decent person for once and maybe the society might actually feel sorry for you.

When she says she wants her voice back, I suppose she wants her credibility back, this ability to be believed when talking. We all take it for granted, don't we?
I believe by now that truth doesn't actually play a role in her mind when she's asked a question. She replies straight from a strategic point without even consulting her memory. And I actually believe by now that she thinks of herself being in the right. In other words, I believe she needs help, sigh. But you can't help someone who doesn't want help.

I don't understand how they can look at the two spilled wine photos Ms. Vasquez questioned Amber about and not realize that is the same photo, just cropped. Hope the jury noticed the points she was trying to make. The spilled wine even had the same spill pattern, lighting, chair in same position from the spill, but supposedly taken on two different dates according to Amber's team. 😂

I understand that this is a trial and each side will find people who will say what they want them to say, but... I find it VERY disheartening that you have two mental health professionals who "tested" the very same person, but have come up with two totally different diagnosis. I find it sad that people who took an oath to do no harm can be "bought" - - it makes my heart break and makes me not want to trust ANY health care professional.
