Invasions mode is the only reason I'll agree with the ratings because they could've honestly done konquest mode instead of a boardgame. Other than that, it's a solid and gorgeous game that's worth every penny.
Huh? Premium edition for $110? That is not worth every penny. Their monatization is actually disgusting. The premium edition doesnt have much in it even, really just the head start nonsense more and more devs are doing now days.
My only gripe so far is how it feels like the cosmetic customizations also went from 11 to 1, and that it seems to be due to microtransactional reasons.
Li mei is by far my favourite character. She's a loyal royal guard, And once a mentor to the princesses. But she failed on the job, and was constantly looked down upon and you beat her up multiple times in story which adds to her losing streak, as a character stripped of her honor & position/title is still loyal to the royal family despite their hatred towards her, and has since only wished for their best. Her sense of justice & duty the crown is admirable. She is constantly wanting to a chance to prove herself useful, but fails again, and again and it's a 4hr long story till her redemption begins, So when she has the resolve to help liu kang, and you finally play her, you get to smoke everyone! Her character arc is by far my favourite! from a failed guard on a path of redemption, which is just so resonating with a failure like me 😅
This game is incredible. Invasions mode is fun as hell. Gameplay is top notch and the story is entertaining as always and they really out did themselves with some of these fatalities 😂 Jesus Christ.

Well, buddy, don’t get your hopes up. Don’t even bother keep playing the story. This game is great in every other aspect but not story aspect. It only gets worse and shittier.
The story was fresh, dope, and interesting up until that plot twist. The final act is really disappointing. Hopefully the leak for the expansion is real and we get a real interesting ending
The reasons for which it got the overall score it did can at least be revamped and improved...i.e. Invasions mode difficulty/enemy challenges, online matchmaking and menu navigation/ playing other modes while waiting like SF and cross play which is already konfirmed to be comming down the line !

Feels rushed and feels like a cash grab, it’s a heavily monetized game and wants you to grind in a way that’s unenjoyable. The games a mess in my opinion. I’d take Tekken 8 over this any day.
My one thing with the character progression is it feels a little slow, it takes so many fights to level up just once and while the rewards are great it does become a grind with 23 characters
Between this and SF6 I'm getting mid-90s vibes like fighting games are back. Ik, ik, they never left, but it really feels like these franchises are hitting all the right notes.
Every single one of the voice actors were on point but Sub-Zero’s voice actor did a HELL of job making Sub sound menacing and commanding in ever scene he’s in!
Disappointed they didn't include the spoken interactions before the fight between characters like they did in Injustice 2 and MK11 especially since they have Van Damme voice and skin for Johnny Cage in this game.
Other than Megan Fox's terrible voice acting, it's the lack of customization compared to MK11 that baffles me. It's a huge step back, and these celebrities doing terrible voice work needs to stop.

NRS is being left behind on single player content too, not just multiplayer functionality. SF6’s World Tour is the new gold standard, not MK’s movies, which come off extremely dated now regardless of visuals and storytelling. MK1 isn’t a new beginning for the franchise, it’s just MK12 marketed that way when in reality it’s just a standard sequel, not even a turning point of any kind, MK’s always changed up their gameplay. MK9 was more of a starting point and even that one was building off of MK vs DC and continuing the franchise’s same storyline.

This game has some of the most gorgeous stages I've ever seen in a fighting game. The Wu Shi Academy and the Hanging Garden visuals take the cake.

MK10 or 11 didn't have stage fatalities etc. at launch either. They came through later updates.
