the problem is with the speedometer instrument cluster, (replacement will fix the issue), not with the fuel level sensors, it's a common issue with the x-trails. Had the same problem on customer's cars, as well on mine.
I have the same trouble with my Xtrail 06. I replaced both pumps; the principal and the auxiliar but persist the problem. Inclusive we check the lines.but Tomorrow will check the cluster instrument, and if ist necessesary will change it. Thanks phillipe. I pray to Jehová God help me. Have a great day friends.
Have same issue!! Only thing I notice is when air temp outside is colder...the gage works properly until I drive a bit and then it goes back to full. Could it be a low voltage battery? Fuse? Any updates???
Ah I see!! I took a video of mine behaving this morning. It's a colder morning here on van isle and in the video you can see it starts correct then as the engine warms up it creeps higher and higher. Then when I park and turn off and on it's stuck at 3/4. So bizarre!! But in cold it works fine! There's a Nissan forum that talks about issue and someone had success with a gas cleaner from can tire because GM had similar recall and suggested a gas cleaner with techron. Imma gonna try it!
@@leniwiectoja My customer declined the repair as it involves replacement of the instrument cluster or repairs. He said he doesn't want to spend the money and will just reset the trip odometer when refueling.
Thank you for the video . I have 2013 nissan pathfinder 4wd when I put gas the gas gage is showing full but when it's going low gas the gage doesn't all the way down . What do you think what would be the issue. Thank you
Hi Hussain, I don't know if you've solved the problem but I've just had the same issue on my Nissan X-Trail 2008. I simply disconnected the fuel reader under the back seats, had a key cycle (showing empty), cleaned the contact and put it back. it seems to work now but I'll figure it out in the next days.
The problem is not solved with no video that follows as promised. I have a similar issue with my xtrail, so the real solution would very much appreciated. I have a feeling something is wrong with the instument panel.
The problem is in the gage cluster specifically the fuel gage. Customer declined further repairs. Decided to reset the trip odometer at each fill up. Sorry.
I did not understand, please, I have the same problem, and the humiliation is full of the moss, and it is empty. It always remains for us F What is the solution
Most often it appears that the gauge is the failure but test the resistance of the sender units and continuity of the wiring from the gage to the senders. good luck
hello sir I just asked for my fuel gauge when my gas tank is full but in my fuel gauge dashboard it doesn't fill up, it's in the second line before it reaches full, but many people say it's a floater? you sir what do you think? thanks for the response sir.
It could be the sender/s or the dash unit. My research found that the gage in the dash is common to fail. You need to test the sending units in the tank. There are two as shown in the video. I also gave the resistance specs in the video. Good luck.
The sender in the pump on left side if roughly 70 ohms empty and 1 ohm full. The sub sender on the right side is 36 ohms empty and 1 ohm full. They are in series with each other so add together. The fuel gage should read empty with roughly 105 to 110 ohms in circuit and full at 1 to 2 ohms. See 15:10 in video. Problem on this vehicle was in the gage itself. Hope this helps you.
@@PhillipBailey Today I have a problem with an x trail. and I'm going the same way, the marker failure. float one 84 HOMS empty and 6 full. and the auxiliary measures 40 HOMS empty, 0 full. thanks and greetings again.
Nice video. I've been struggling with the same issue in my Xtrail. I have tried cleaning both senders and replacing with junkyard senders yet the problem still persists. I did notice that when I wiggled the connector behind the cluster the level would sometimes change, so thought it might be a wiring issue. I also noticed in the wiring diagram that there is a resistor wired in parallel across the circuit (can see it at about 5:25 in this video). I'm thinking that this is like a "voltage regulator" that used to be in instrument clusters of older cars. I'm thinking that the issue could be with this resistor. Thoughts?
I believe what you saw in the cluster was a diode. Likely for bulb check. Older gages used to used a regulator but those were thermal type gages. This is electronic. This appears to be a fairly common failure on this vehicle. Sorry wish I could be more help. Customer decided to live with the issue. Reset the trip odometer every fill up.
@@ilkkamaatta8088 yes that is correct. They are in series so they add up. I don't remember the specific values though but it's mentioned in the video. My research leads me to believe the gage is a common failure witch requires sending the cluster for repairs. I wish I knew specifically which part in the cluster actually fails. Good luck
@@PhillipBailey Yes, the video shows: 1st sensor 5 ohm. (full), 80 ohm. (empty) 2nd sensor 1 ohm. (full), 40 ohm. (empty) So a total of both 6 ohms. (full), 120 ohms. (empty) This is important information when thinking about a car with your own fuel gauge instead of an aftermarket gauge. Thanks for the info and video.
Bugger same problem T30...05. cleaned contact's on both fine sandpaper ok 1 day prob back next 2 new units in tank ok 2 days back again bugger!!!!! Trying everything. I have that problem sir with my xtrail t30,i replaced the fuel pump and gauge but no good results, should i replace the speedo clock?
Yes thanks. We acquired a used cluster and it fixed it.
I will change the speedo meter cluster and see.
Did you get this new or used?
another cluster issue here , thanks for the test data , very helpful, thank you
