    So what has happened to our society since this video was taken? Instead of having parades for troops returning home we have parades for millionaires that play football and protest the troops. Now it seems like instead of disagreeing with respect we fight and throw stuff or call people names on both sides of whatever issue being protested. Nothing is done peaceful anymore. People just fly off the handel when they do not get their way or throw a tantrum. We could really learn a lot from the past. Not everything was good in the past but there were a lot of refined people that acted with kindness instead of rudeness.

      Invading countries and shit, Why would anyone welcome your troops with parades?

    • @RetroBleck
      @RetroBleck 5 лет назад +2

      @@sanmechrocker The problem with your theory is it's not the American Troops to be angry at, while they're the pawns performing all the acts, It's the ones in power that are at fault, and it always has been. The one's behind it all. The ones pulling the strings at the top of the military. The idea of patriotism and a military should be considered noble to the people, and celebrated, but the things US troops are made to do by the government are detestable. The government is also quick to throw its troops under the bus when it's convenient to them. They really don't care for the people giving their life for the country, they blame it all on them if it's convenient, and it used to be that they didn't even help them with all the traumas they got from it.
      Big government has been and always will be evil, and the whole reasoning the US came to be originally was to get away from big government. That's the reason the civil war happened. They were tired of big government stepping in and telling them what they can and can't do. The US history books always try to play the confederacy off as "they wanted slaves, they are bad", but the real thing they wanted was to tell big government they aren't welcome.

    Great images of a great city captured by early cinematographers. Just a suggestion - films of this vintage should be seen in the original ratio of 4:3 (1.33:1) not the full width we see here and at silent speed of around 16-18 frames per second. The jerky fast motion is the result of being scanned or reproduced at sound speed 24/25fps.
    I know the organ music is part of the original production (1953) but apart from being kitsch, for some reason it does weird things to my stomach.
