There’s one small flaw in the writing. And that is that anyone can see the Hybrids eyes at any time. This was revealed in one of the earlier episodes …Meaning nothing that any of the hybrids do or say should have come as surprise to the scientists. Yet it was. No one was being monitored. And why isn’t Kirsch being updated/ monitored by Kid Cavalier. None of them even went back through anyone’s “visual cortex logs” to see what could have changed in any of the Hybrids. Why is that?
Yup. Earlier in the season we saw them monitoring Wendy hacking systems but after that NOPE, not monitoring anymore. Kirsh monitors but he doesn’t report to Boy Kavalier or intervene

I think Wendy found out that someone let out xenomorph. Alarm may have gone off or she saw the spec ops guys getting trashed in the high grass. Possible nibs killed dame. Nibs went full on psycho about the memory eraser and being called a robot.
Nibs is definitely going crazy. Really curious to see what this next episode brings. Keep an eye out for my review tomorrow. Gonna film right after it airs. Can’t want to discuss it with those who are also enjoying the show. Hopefully they drop the finale teaser quickly too 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
i would like it more if Kirsh wants to kill the kids because he is jealous of Boy Kavalier's attention, and he wants to be equal with his boss and not to be kicked to aside. There hasn't been that kind of story for a cyborg / synth in the Alien universe yet. At least i hope he isnt just typical "i'm evil, i hate my boss, and i just want to kill all the humans" - kind of guy, like David was.. :/
This is two years before Ripley so these models are defective they have way to much freedom of mind and no clear base commands to report anything vital .they seem to have a lvl of free thinking probably thought a good idea when first created but they seem neglected in time and forgotten in plain view of new and better thing's . They themselves were a pinnacle for a short time yet relegated to butler status made with a lvl of humanity that is constantly disregarded making them feel more like posh hoover

Probably why they made a new character like him for this show because he doesn’t survive leading up to the ‘Alien’ film. You think this show hurts or helps the Alien franchise in the long run?

I thought it only my issue. That I need subtitles for some of contemporary British productions. Especially for some of the Guy Ritchie movies. For example Lock, Stock, And Two Smoking Barrels - it is as if all actors had stroke as same time, or maybe I had and couldn’t distinguish separate words…
My wife is from Czech Republic and she speaks great English but sometimes tv shows/movies are hard to understand either because accents or speed of talking. We watch everything with subs. Even as an American I think I’ve missed out on jokes and references my whole life because sometimes it is hard to understand. We recently saw Snatch for the first time, thank god for subtitles 😂
@CinemaHookedCHRIS Try Scottish indie productions - that’s complete hardcore. I watch American productions without subtitles and with no issues at all. But movies like those Scottish indie films, and also Guy Ritchie’s gangster series, can be a real challenge. For example, Filth with James McAvoy was sometimes impossible to understand, while Welcome to the Punch with the same actor I watched without any problem :D

@CinemaHookedCHRIS I didn’t mean the artistic value of those films… If I were to recommend something with McAvoy, maybe Trance by Danny Boyle (not his best movie, but still more interesting than most of what’s coming out these days). Also with him in a supporting role - a kind of “they shot the guy and he still saves the world” type of movie - you could try Atomic Blonde (especially for the scene where the heroine takes down a group of German cops to the rhythm of a George Michael song :D ).
From a different angle, really good films with a capital G, I’d recommend first Pig with Nicolas Cage, and second Escape from Pretoria with Harry Potter himself in a leading role :D.
From the newer stuff, you might try the horror ‘Together’, ‘Substance’, and maybe something lighter: ‘Companion’.
You probably know most of these, but maybe there’s one you haven’t seen?

People need to be honest. Episodes 1 + 2 were great, I let a lot of things slide because we had a lot of hope... 3 4 5 6 have all been beyond nonsense, written by a 10 year old laughable. Lets hope and pray the last 2 episodes can end on the same high note the first two started off on. Most of these characters are so stupid and unlikable, im honestly routing for the xenomorph maybe Wendy to join team xeno and then also t-ocellus... every other character outside Morrow and Kirth are beyond terrible.
Morrow and Kirsh are super compelling to me. Kirsh gives me David vibes from Prometheus and I love it. Timothy Olyphant is great in the role. I’m hopefully these last two episodes will be absolute bangers

Are you enjoying this show? I feel like the folks chiming in inside the comments here are split. Some say it’s terrible. Some really like it. I personally enjoy it, it has flaws but overall I find it entertaining
@CinemaHookedCHRIS 50/50, some eps are really good, others no so much; I kinda feel Im watching two shows in one: one about ill kids turned into robots in a isolated island (a very good plot for a SCI FI show) and the other with all the Alien background, with the showrunners not knowing how to mixing both well to work

some of these comments must be bots. makes me wonder if all they want to see is alien hunts humans, humans hunt aliens back, no story what soever, no character building what soever, no world building what soever........ i would love to see what kind of movie they make in 8 episodes. alien hunts human and human hunts alien for 8 straight episodes and thats all we get......... the views will drop off fast in my opinion.

Some have theorized maybe the eyeball somehow gets to boy Kavalier. I think Kavalier dies. There’s a reason we’ve never heard of prodigy in any other alien movies. I think this franchise should stick with frightening sci fi/thriller/horror and not tv. The best episode yet was the one that took place on the ship. It felt most like an alien franchise movie

@CinemaHookedCHRIS like i'll admit the 1st predator with arnold in it was really good, but i'm not going to watch that on repeat. if some folks want to watch it on repeat then more power to them. just watch that and do not watch anything else and quit B!tching about it. if they just want to watch aliens 1 over and over and over and over then watch that and nothing else quit B!itching about it. if they cant handle them trying to resurrect a DEAD franchise by breathing new ideas then dont watch it......... what is so hard about that??
i'm sorry but if they want to act like they are smart and say this or that is stupid then they need to use that same logic and make sense to why it is logical.... case and point is if kirsh has been scheming this whole time and he is in charge of research then why????????? would he want to put guards in front of the research door??????? anyone scheming will take the path of least resistance. it would make ZERO sense if for example i want to rob a bank, but i want guards to be there to make it harder on myself......... if some folks take it personally then i'm sorry there are 2 sides of a coin.
@icekangz817I think we might get some cool reveal with Kirsh. At least I’m hoping so. We don’t know exactly what his intentions are at this point. Boy Kavalier puts too much trust in him. Someone should be monitoring Kirsh. Hoping this next episode is awesome. The teaser looked great to me

It’s show about idiots probably written by those. Examples? Wendy saying she is perfecting pronunciation of the Alien language. Wtf? What pronunciation? & How suddenly good old Aliens have their own audible language, similar to ours?I hope authors won’t suggest that they have complicated grammar and vocabulary that would be utter stupidity; Even better was when in the previous episode Kavalier asked one of the characters: “You studied French, can you make something out of it?” Seriously? Or Wendy’s conversation with her brother about how this particular Alien might be good. And the whole idea of making children in the bodies of super-strong synths as a heroes is just absurd. Sometimes they act like adults, other times they’re messing around poking water with a stick like little kids-depending on what the script needs at the moment. What kind of complete idiot writes these stuff?
I agree with most of what you said but I really like and understand Wendy questioning on if the Xenomorph could be good. I’ve always wanted to know, as a fan of the franchise the nature vs. nurture argument. Can a xenomorph have a conscience? Be good? Or are they ONLY bred for killing? I find it to be a very interesting question. If a xenomorph was in a loving positive environment, could it be good?

Giger - he usually played with topos like Eros and Tanatos - sex and death, mixing it using bio-mechanical designs. Very prime instincts, urges, without questions about morality or consciousness. At first movie we also didn’t get those questions- Alien was force of nature, ultimate personification of brutality of nature, environment leaving humans powerless against it, with strong sexual tropes - like simulated rape scene where Ash try’s to impregnate Ripley with alien embryo using rolled porn magazine or just Alien itself with its ambiguous design, movement, and disturbing life cycle consisting of face-huggers stage that impregnates humans orally.
@CinemaHookedCHRISalso… Alien was never ment to be series it was lightning in a bottle, good horror happening in space. With designs by very talented artists like Giger (aliens and derelict space ship, Mobious (space suits) or Ron Cobb who designed Nostrono interiors with all details like iconography visible inside.
It touches some of us because it plays with primal instincts and fears. But it’s hard to expand this universe without falling into clichés, which was avoided only in the second Alien, but also at a certain cost-the film became more comic-book-like, an adventure-style sci-fi.

Episode 3: Why can the protagonist carry a large knife, while the other android kids only have a small knife (what's it for? Opening Taobao cardboard boxes?)

Episode 5: Using a glass container that shatters upon falling to seal the multi-eyed little creature???
Episode 6: The male scientist randomly opens the sealed chamber of the alien object to save a kid???

Someone pointed out how flawed and corrupt these companies are if you look back at the original Alien films. They’ve always been terrible with protocols and their decision are almost always bad. Either it’s bad writing or it’s staying in tune with past iterations in the franchise.

@CinemaHookedCHRIS You're both wrong. They were never terrible with protocols, or bad decisions in the original Alien movie. Ripley followed protocol, and refused to allow the organisms onboard. It was Ash, who had received secret orders from Mother to secure and deliver it, and it was Ash who opened the door. In Alien: Earth everyone is a dumb as a box of rocks, everything is a plot device, nothing makes rational or logical sense even when we're "on an island of scientists." Anyone entertained by this has an incredibly low bar, and should not be taken seriously. It's not Trumpified, it's Kaiju-ified.

I’m enjoying the show. Does it have flaws? Absolutely! To say we shouldn’t be taken seriously is a bit much. Unlike lots of RUclips channels, I tend to stay on the positive/optimistic side of things. I know 💩ing on shows and movies gets more click but it’s so disingenuous.
There are some very interesting characters in this show. I really enjoy Kirsh, probably because he gives me David vibes and Fassbender is amazing.

Alien Earth: Disney Strikes Back!
As Lt Ellen Ripley had rightly commented that IQs have really plunged while she was drifting in space. Imagine you have a trillion Dollar expedition, to all corners of the galaxy. Then you put dipshits as crew for this ship, with a mission that would take 65 years. A moron that accepts a post as an apprentice, who is more illiterate than an amoeba, does not know what an apprentice means, can't tell the difference between biology and geology, and his engineer master craftsman who carries a coke can for his spittle, is as boring as crap. The other 'scientist' brings food and drinks into a biolab with extraterrestrial specimens, which she feeds by hand! This show has some nice plot elements, story, action, and development but must be targeted for the lowest smarts on this planet. On the other hand, if this is an indication of how stupidity and ignorance are getting normalized, then I am not at all surprised Elon Musk's SpaceX rocket ships keep blowing up! Not keen on the choice of teenage / younger morons having roles in high stakes space adventures, as it really paints this demographic very badly.
Overall, the writing is amateurish, despite the lore being so rich and diverse. It also shows total disregard to canon. At first, the idea that NH was writing and in charge of this TV series sounded good to me, and I was hopeful that the franchise at last will have some decent direction to move forward into. Now, it seems this is unlikely to be much better than what came before. No talent cheap lazy shallow and very uninspiring!
It’s definitely not as great a quality as some of the films before it. I think that this franchise should stick with films. I understand them wanting to streak television but I don’t think a franchise like this works for TV. I like when it plays like a sci fi horror and that formula doesn’t work as a TV show. I really liked Romulus though. That definitely worked for me
@CinemaHookedCHRIS Agree. For a TV show to do justice to the Alien lore, whether a prequel, a sequel or a standalone has to be especially outstanding in terms of premise story development script and character building. The problem is that we have idiots for writers. Mostly.

@CinemaHookedCHRIS I wish I could be as hopeful and optimistic as you appear to be. I was so thrilled at the beginning and really wanted this to bring back the magic of Alien. But, alas..... it's all gone.... like tears in rain. 😪
Mind you, what is sadder is that you can estimate from all the traffic on RUclips channels how general education and ignorance have become really major issues and that entertainment, and I am even upset to say this, domains such as Sci-Fi have dropped to such a pathetically low standards since the 2000s it is just beyond imagination. Something to do with people not reading any more, and people not going to school any more as I pointed out elsewhere.
Then it become easy for Disney et al to shove their crap on everyone and get rich while doing it. It's not funny.

I'm bewildered by Prometheus and it's mediocrity that teased only to lead to nowhere but back to familiar grounds. Ridley Scott proves to be weak on his own but brilliant when working on good material, hence, Dan O' Bannon and Ronald Shusett.

@CinemaHookedCHRISI don’t want to be rude I absolutely respect your taste and cinematic choices, but please could you satisfy my curiosity, explain why do you like movie written so poorly with characters acting as if they all suddenly had lobotomy? Few examples: Zoology expert petting space-cobra, another character of a group of the brightest scientists in the world, during they first walk on the surface of alien planet decides to take off helmet because he had a hunch, very scientific, very logical. They go into alien structure, see alien corpses, find room full of containers with dangerously looking alien substance (black goo) and not only they aren’t concerned but two of them decides to spend night there, after they were cut of from mother ship during dust storm. That’s room where space cobra grew from space worms infected and accelerated by black goo. Another one: very huge long straight object falls at Wickers and what does she do? Runs in straight line forgetting that she could just jump sideways. Another one, how did space squid taken out of Shawn’s womb grew so big? It stayed in closed room without any source of food and it was obviously biological alive thing so to grow it had to digest some biological material - how without any nutrients it grew so much from size of a palm into beast bigger than polar bear? Another, they flew across universe to ask engineers about immortality same time they were able to revive Engineers head. Em, wtf?
@CinemaHookedCHRISone side note to my questions about Prometheus. I know it’s a gorgeously looking movie with some good design choices. I am not sure about one thing their choice to change Gigers design of Space Jockey into Engineers suit, they could done it other ways, thing they decided on is just another creative shortcut, but apart of this this movie is done very well - visually. Same time as I think my questions proved it’s very poorly written thing. Should we accept things so simplified, treating audiences as fools or children without any knowledge unable of thinking. Everything must be so self explanatory, whole plot is just series of bridges between action scenes.
I wish I could truly understand wtf Alien Earth fans are enjoying about this show. All of this is contrived bullshit yet hype channels are acting like we have the next Breaking Bad or Walking Dead we are witnessing… Are we watching the same show?!?💯
If you’re new to my channel I tend to be an optimist and I tend to not 💩on things. RUclips is oversaturated with just picking apart things in a negative way. Is it a perfect show? No. Do I find entertainment in it? Yes. I think the truth is, I’ve seen truly bad and horrible shows and this isn’t one of them. It has an entertainment value
Nah I’m with you. I’ve been trying to give it a chance every week because I loved Romulus but the story decisions pacing and entity choices outside the xenomorph are pure dogwater. A huge cgi fly and eyeball isn’t intimidating at all lol.
@link12992the next episode with the private military looks interesting. Penultimate episodes are typically great, hoping it’s great and hoping it might give restored hope to those on the fence. It’s not a perfect show though, it’s got its problems

@CinemaHookedCHRIS 😂sorry to just leave a statement and not explain. I like the show out of love for the franchise but it's ruining the lore that the movies set up. The decisions made by people who are supposed to be geniuses or scientist are idiotic and it makes you wonder how did they get the job in the 1st place. I've seen chief's handle raw meat better than these scientists handling parasitic organisms. The show would've been better set if it was set after aliens and if they crew had better safety protocols so that I'm not questioning the intelligence of each individual
@demguttswhen it did the flashback episode and the lady just did the list twist top on the enclosure I was like “are you f****ng KIDDING ME?!” 😂. Totally understand what you’re saying. Yeah it’s interesting they chose this as a prequel series instead of taking place post Aliens movies
