That really is the crown jewel of American museums of aviation! Thanks for visiting!
My brother lived in Dayton and when I visited him I visited the Airforce Museum. It is a great place to visit.
Great seeing you at Hamvention! I had the pleasure of working and retiring just 1 mile from the memorial at WPAFB. Love doing POTA from the memorial.
I need to go back and finish my tour of the museum. We missed the early years and a few other exhibits.
Believe it or not my Dad was stationed at Wright Patt when I and my Sster were born. I had been visiting that museum since they just had planes out on the flightline rusting. Now, they have them indoors and look like you could fly them. I have made 5 trips, and I have over 2 hours of VHS tape on one visit, and I still didn't even get 1/2. Thanks for the memories, Michael.
There is certainly way to much to see at that museum. I was talking to one of the docents and he said they are planning a 5th hanger.
I also went to the air force museum while i was at Dayton. Very cool place!
I am a 50-year career aviator and retired airline pilot. I really enjoyed the museum tour. If you EVER come to Arizona I would love to take you to the Pima Air Museum, right by the “Boneyard” at Davis Monthan AFB near Tucson. From there to the Titan Missile Museum. The reason for that stop? There is a HUGE discone antenna there that is available for hams to connect to and use. My club does an annual trek down there. Airplanes, rockets, and radio. A good mix.
I'm glad you enjoyed the tour. The Titan Missile Museum is on my bucket list for the the reason you cited, I want to hook up to the big discone. Well that, and I have a fascination with cold war history.
Super coverage of that location. Really makes me want to visit. Just toured the air & space museum in McMinnville, Oregon which included a cook’s tour of the Hughes Hercules H-4 (aka The Spruce Goose). Got to operate the Morse Code key which is right behind the pilot’s seat. Thanks, Michael. Keep the videos coming. -- 73 de K6KRG
Another really cool aviation museum is the Airventure at the EAA grounds in Oshkosh, WI. I'm fortunate to live close enough to that to have visited it a few times.
If two bicycle mechanics hadn't developed and executed a plan, we wouldn't have used airplanes in World War 1 to the extent we did, if at all. Those guys took something people said was impossible, and proved it was possible. Enjoy Hamvention, and give a report when you put out your next video. 73.
