I have also tested the same 3 brands along with another cheap imitation one from Amazon and I had the same results.
The Franklin and the off brand one basically fell apart within the first hour of use.
The bauer one didn't last more than 3 week's worth of use. The bottom got chewed up fairly quickly and the edge holding the stick blade started to warp outwards.
The Hockeywraparound has been by far the best of the blade protectors in terms of durability and protection. I find that you don't need to full cover the wraparound with tape. To reduce that "tape weight" just do 3 wraps around the heel, mid, and toe area and it's on there and secure and still remains relatively light-weight.
Hockeywraparound wins this competition by a mile.

Crazy the Franklin I got from Amazon has lasted over 15 sessions of roller hockey still shooting on tennis courts for 8$ values pretty good as it's still running fine. that's my experience with it tho

I’m very surprised by the Bauer. I’ve had one on for about a month and use it in my outdoor roller league twice a week and haven’t had any issues. Given I’m not sending clappers all day with it but I think it does very well. Only think I can think of is I still keep the toe of my blade taped and maybe that’s why it stays on perfectly for me. I haven’t had it move once on me and when I take it off to check the blade it’s very secure and hard to take off to be honest

I use the Bauer Blade Protector on a Warrior Alpha LX Pro W03MAX stick. I did also many slapshots and had no problems. I saw first time on the video that the protector toe can come off..

    Thanks for the video.
I have gone through multiple blade guards over the last month.
I have an outdoor roller hockey rink near my house and I play in an ice hockey league. I use my game sticks on the out door roller rink much more for practice than I do games.
Most of the these wrap arounds are over priced garbage. 20 to 30 dollars per wrap around. I had a wrap around “The Wrap around” break after my first slap shot, AND I had it fully tapped except for one spot, the one spot not tapped. Now I do live in a cold climate so maybe the temperature made the plastic break easier. Perhaps.
But! 30 bucks for a piece of plastic I’m not impressed. They need to make these damn things cheaper for how flimsy they are. Coming from the old school days of high quality 2 piece sticks. These plastic wrap arounds cost as much as a nice replacement blade. Put that in perspective. We’re getting screwed by the hockey companies and they know it. These wrap around are a big disappointment, bring down the cost for what they really are ,disposable trash to protect your blade for a few sessions.

We’d love to see pictures or hear more about this. We have never heard of a Wraparound breaking on the first shot and we test them extensively to make sure that doesn’t happen. As always, you can always contact us directly if you have an issue!

I saw Pavel's video before this and I was very sceptical as he seemed to gloss over the obvious shortcomings of the bauer, intentionally or not.
This test is exactly what I hope he would've done, thanks guys!

is it not simpler just to grab a cheap ABS stick for pavement and just accept that the weight and curve aren't going to match up to on-ice?

What a bad review in case of the bauer stick protector. We are using it in our league games and practice. Our skater hockey is played outside on a more or less smooth asphalt. It lasts about a month. 2 practices a week and a game a week. Last but not least, it never comes off if you use a bauer stick.

I use the hockey WrapAround and the Sherwood version, they work well.
To me you were not using it correctly while taping the blade from heel to toe because the purpose of getting these, in my opinion, is to keep some glide from the blade without damaging it on the street or concrete. I use it with tape at the toe, and at the heel, and the middle section stays in place and it glides better without tape.
My brother tried some other versions found on Amazon and they are fixed to the blade with tie wraps. He likes it.

I wish you had reviewed these just for off ice handling drills etc. No shots. Fun review and sorry to be critical but I think I should. I own the wrap around. Interestingly I haven't used it with tape I think exactly like y'all have but close. While I agree, I do take shots with it, and haha he's right, we all take a shot or two if we can but it would be nice to see the others from just a stickhanding perspective

@@HockeyWrapAround wraparounds are good for stickhandling/playing on asphalt. There is no point to test it for slapshots, if you want practice your shooting just use shooting pad, it is 10 times better then shooting from asphalt

Those wrap-arounds weren't around when I was a kid , but in all fairness , they don't seem to do a good job and they look pretty cheesy too.
