I have using J.B. Weld for years. It works fantastic. I use rubbing alcohol to clean the surfaces before use. I once used it to seal a casting defect in a cylinder head between a water jacket and the combustion chamber. Worked good lasted for years,
I can't live without JB-Weld. I use it lots for computer repairs. Mainly hinge repairs for laptops. For those interested seek out Paul Daniels videos. Anyway is a fantastic product with so many uses! And anyone can use it really.
@@CharlieDIYte no worries! To be a little more specific. It's usually what's holding the hinge to the chassis on a laptop that fails. But yes JB-Weld to the rescue :-) I find myself using it for so many little repair or modification jobs.
I go Milliput for any repair from now on. I had to order it from a shop here online and not cheap , 77 pounds. My radiators are holding up great and no leaking .No need for new ones for some time.Thank you for the tip and showing it.
That camera worked fine. I've wondered for some time why RUclipsrs didn't use a head mounted camera. So often the one-handed repair is extremely awkward to watch and often the arm is in the way of the lens. All that needs to be invented now is a editing app that will allow you to identify the center of the frame and the app will keep it in the center with no movement. That would improve a majority of videos. Oh. And if all JB Weld material disappeared from America, most mechanical devices older than 20 or so years would fall apart. Magical stuff.
After used the milliput on stuff like this after using a JB Weld type of product before I sand & prime, seal & paint to help protect material. Something I've learned from the trade over the years. Might be overkill, but have never had a call back to fix the repair😉 Like these types of series....the part 1, 2, 3...etc... Thanks. Cheers, A
I'm surprised you don't know about JB Weld. The stuff is a miracle. You can build with it like a 3D printer if you have the patience. As it hardens, you can push it around and have it replace missing parts. You literally could have replaced that whole broken part if you have the time and energy to sit there and build it up. But JB Weld will weather wonderfully, even in winter and summer in full exposure. I have had things fixed under CARS, fully exposed to Chicago winters with all the sleet and salt. I swear by it, though it's certainly not easy to work with on certain jobs.
They now make it in a double tube with a plunger almost like a syringe and you just push down on the syringe and both parts come out at the same time in equal measure. They also make an extension tube that you can put on the end of that syringe if you need a very thin bead although I'm not sure how useful that would be since the two parts really need to be mixed before using anyway.
Thanks Brian, that's good to know. I wonder if the extension tube has a spiral in it, as some double tubes do these days. That would mix it as it was being extruded. 👍🏻
J-B Weld is really great stuff. I had a metal post deteriorate and I used that stuff over 5 years ago and it's still solid like the other metal. Been through all kinds of heat and cold and rain..it really is as solid as metal and yes it will last for years and years.
YOU ARE SO RIGHT. An office chair's back of the seat, kept falling backward re broken plastic lever. Turned it on its side, squeezed this mixed epoxy, pushed it with a toothpick into the "small space" where the the cylinder makes seat upright. Allowed a gravity drip-down to harden 24hrs,.REPEATED on OTHER SIDE Cylinder housing. Dried 24 hours/Seat arms and back as one unit originally anyway, frozen by epoxy, sat with BACK straight up! Fits my small %-foot frame. *Very EXPENSIVELY MADE* chair had been placed by my fastidios neighbor as curb trash the night before. :-) :-) :-)
Going to use this to hold piece on facet end. It keeps popping off and prevents purchasing a new facet. My cousin recommended this. Hope it works. BTW great video. Take care.
I love your attention to detail and the do it properly attitude you have, really enjoyed watching your videos over the last few days, thanks for taking the time to make them :) On the subject of degreasers, I have a bit of a brake clean addiction, I use it to clean all sorts of things, it is a really effective degreaser and like the spray you mention also evaporates leaving no residue or mess behind, also, with a pressurised spray bottle and buying it in 5 litre containers it is very cheap as well.
Have used JB weld now for yrs, its even good to repair engine parts too - that get very hot - its the best stuff out there, you can drill/tap it and do all wonderful stuff with it !
Ice caused it to crack, any water on the outside of the gutter downpipe would sit around in the joint. Expand and blow out the piece. .. Should seal around the lip of the joint with some gutter sealant.
J-B Weld sets in 4 to 5 hours, but takes 15 to 24 hours to cure, and from 3 to 7 days to attain maximum strength and durability. The label, shown at :03, clearly states the set time and the minimum cure time. Using strong tape to hold the repair together is a brilliant idea. Here's a comparison test of similar products from Project Farm, in Missouri USA - ruclips.net/video/XObmZIbHOzY/видео.html.
Great stuff this J-B Weld.. But if your like me and impatient, try J-B Weld Kwik... Goes off in 20 mins. Again full strength in 24hrs, but workable after 20 mins.
in the old days , that joint on a sewage pipe pipe would get moulton lead poured in to seal it, for guttering we used boss white as gutters are an open joint system.
My guess is that you'd be ok with that, as its uses are pretty broad, from metal to plastics and pvc, ceramic and tile, fiberglass, home repairs, craft, marine, toys, plumbing. The list goes on. How come the metal you're repairing is painted though?

I have a '12" metal mesh locker shelf' that I'd like to secure with some kind of adhesive. However, since it comes painted, would JB Weld SteelStik still work, or should I try something else? Should I use polyurethane based glues (ex. Gorilla Glue) or cyanoacrylate based adhesives (ex. Gorilla Super Glue) or an epoxy?
