I feel connected to Wallsend but have few memories, my father worked at the colliery and I think he drank at The Swan. I would love to come for a visit and look for a future home there and maybe have a pint with some locals! Your history shows are greatly appreciated and I love your accent, it makes me feel I’m living in the wrong place! @@julieswallsendhistory8671
@@julieswallsendhistory8671 my father worked for the colliery as a computer programmer…lol in the early 60’s, I have few memories but I feel I must return one day as Wallsend is in my soul.
@@julieswallsendhistory8671 I used to work in the planning department and there many old plans. A good starting point would be the Pevsner county guide
Thank you Julie. You always bring my memories flooding back with your brilliant informative videos.
Thank you, so glad you enjoy them
Thank you Julie loved hearing the history on these pubs 😊
Thank you, quite a few more to come, we have so many pubs ha ha 😄
Very enjoyable! However, it's sad seeing old pubs closing and the buildings unused ☹. I'm glad the Queens Head is still going.
Yes it is sad, we have lost many pubs in the area, but we do still have quite a few that are open and still seem to be doing quite well.
Keep up the Brilliant Work Julie Peace be With You
Thank you
ive been in all these pubs over the years ..great video thanks for your hard work keep them coming
Thank you, many more pub stories to come
Still plenty pubs left
@@derekmcdonald6682 not as many as 25/30 years ago though, that's for sure.
Knocked off many pints of Spesh there when an apprentice at NEM working with Davy Bruce on night shift, happy days, Have a nice Christmas Julie.
@@julieswallsendhistory8671 Have you been to Micky Mouses yet Julie ?
Julie I was born in Wallsend 1964 and moved away 1968 I don’t remember much but thinking of moving back there from Canada.
I think you would have to look at a lot of old photos to really see the changes, I don't remember much of how Wallsend looked in the 60's.

Canny pubs in their day
The Coach and Horses is a very fine piece of Arts and Crafts architecture. Do you know anything about the architect?
Yes it is quite amazing work. Sadly I know very little about the architect, might be something I need to do some research on

Was the Winning not a real den of drunks including the mortal female bar staff? I could be wrong like its been a while.
Not sure on that one, I never went there enough to really know what it was like staff and customer wise.
