  • Leg 5 & 6 of the Cheshire Flyers FAF 3 2023. Swansea to Oaksey Park and then on to White Waltham! This as the hottest day of the year with temperatures well into the 30's. We were all roasting and the thermals came out in force but it was a fantastic day of flying with a lovely bunch of people.

    So good to see this video!
    I’ve desperately missed flying & this content has served as a wonderful reminder of what it’s all about 👍🏼
    Let’s hope we get some decent conditions again soon.
    Thanks for another great episode & beautifully edited 👏🏼

      The weather is absolutely atrocious at the moment isn’t it! I can’t wait until we have some clear skies to take advantage of. Thanks for watching. Very much looking forward to the next Flying Dark Lord Production!

    Well I'm NGL Nick, I kinda liked the voiceover section of the video...
    A little different than usual
    But if you are gonna film on your phone, the least you could do is add it to the video 😂😂😂
    Lovely to see Anna laughing when you throttled up though 😂😂
    Nice flight guys 🛩️

      Glad you enjoyed it Phil! I’m glad I’ve finished that edit - that’s all I have to say on the matter 🤣. I don’t think she appreciated NIIX turning into a 100hp hairdryer did she 😅

      But the voiceover work was great, like I said something a little different

    Nice one Nick. Anna is getting a bit good. She actually looked totally at home on the controls when you were taking photos. How's the shoulder coming along? Hopefully fully recovered now. Why do helicopter pilots never think the rules apply to them? They seem to think they can go where they want when they want without talking to anyone. I see Waltham is still as bumpy as ever.

    • @LetsGoFlying
      @LetsGoFlying  9 месяцев назад

      White Waltham was so bumpy!!!! Taxying to the parking area took about a week and in that heat it was just unbearable! I’d forgotten about the shoulder by this point so luckily it wasn’t causing me any issues. Little did I know it but I caught Covid at some point on this trip but didn’t start getting any symptoms until the day after we got back. Yes Anna is getting a lot more confident which is great!

      Thank you! A friend of mine “Ben Atkinson” has a RUclips channel where he documented his entire journey of learning to fly including most of, if not all of his lessons. I would highly recommend it! It’s a great channel and he’s a really nice guy as well.

    You need to take Anna to Kemble, its a nice airfield with a choice of hard or soft runways. The cafe is good too.

      😂 it’s not through lack of trying! Something usually crops up last minute or someone asks us to change our destination so they can join us. It’s become a bit of a running joke for me and Anna now! 2024 is the year though…💪

      😄I definitely plan to go back there again, if only the weather would just become normal again. I haven't been in the air since early October due to a waterlogged runway. Although after watching your video I am putting Oaksey Park and White Waltham on the list to visit, so thanks for that.

    What frequency do you use for air to air?

    • @LetsGoFlying
      @LetsGoFlying  9 месяцев назад +1

      We use the microlight air to air frequency which is owned by the BMAA and used for situational awareness in the air!

    Hello Nik, thank you for posting another video. I always enjoy them. I've been to Oaksey Park myself, it's a beautiful location. Do you use Avgas on a trip like this or manage to find Mogas?

    • @LetsGoFlying
      @LetsGoFlying  9 месяцев назад

      That is actually a really good question. I run NIIX off shell V-power E5 or equivalent usually but when I am touring or need to refuel away from home, there aren't really many places where MOGAS is readily available so I begrudgingly have to put 100LL or UL91 in - my preference obviously being the latter, however, that is not always available either!
      NIIX is actually going back to the factory for some factory modifications - one of which being wing tanks instead of the standard tanks behind the seats and part of the reason for this is because being one of the new generation 600kg microlights and having such a huge payload that I can't currently get anywhere near using all of, it just made sense to do this so that I can depart on a weekend of flying like this one just gone and not have to refuel at all! I worked out that if I had the wing tanks, I could have done the entire trip without refuelling and still had an hours reserve! In fuel alone that would have saved me around £0.50 per litre on average!
      Oaksey is a lovely place and extremely friendly. I have been in a few times now and like to call in when I am down that way! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.

    I'm afraid I have to say your lookout is pretty poor Nick. You seem to spend a lot of time heads in or straight ahead.

    • @LetsGoFlying
      @LetsGoFlying  9 месяцев назад

      What do you mean?

    • @theflyingfool
      @theflyingfool 9 месяцев назад

      @@LetsGoFlying you aren't actively looking out of the aircraft 95% of the time, in a pattern designed to see and avoid other traffic at least in your front hemisphere.

    • @LetsGoFlying
      @LetsGoFlying  9 месяцев назад

      @@theflyingfool My lookout is excellent and something many instructors with thousands of hours more than me have complimented me on. You have to remember that these episodes are heavily edited and are purely for entertainment purposes. What you just watched was over two hours of flight time boiled down to about 15 minutes of flying content on that video when you take into account the time on the ground etc so your comment of “95% of the time I’m just looking straight ahead” is completely unfounded. I mainly only use the rear facing camera angle when I’m interacting either with the radio or Anna! Just because I’m not making a point of what I am doing doesn’t mean I’m not looking out properly and I don’t think that was a very fair comment to make. My eyes are absolutely spot on and I pride myself on safety and situational awareness. I seem to remember you telling me you infringed in the Manchester LLR once before so maybe play nice if you aren’t perfect yourself. I was also keeping track of the other aircraft in our group whilst slowly roasting at 32 degrees inside the aircraft. I make these videos purely for entertainment purposes and my own memories and I happily put my skills on show for all to see. I’m not hiding behind a pseudonym either. If I do something wrong I own it and put it right but in this case, you are incorrect but thanks for your comment regardless.

    • @theflyingfool
      @theflyingfool 9 месяцев назад

      @@LetsGoFlying OK, it's a fair comment that your videos are heavily edited, but during those time lapse sections when the video was sped up it covered at least a few minutes when you didn't look to either side. Just saying... it might save your life one day.

      @@theflyingfool I feel for you Nick, this is exactly why I’m posting less & less now. The stress of dealing with the relentless & sometimes unwarranted scrutiny & criticism makes me question why we bother 😔 I know how safety conscious you are & I would trust you with my life. Someone watches an edited 15 min video & believes they have the full measure of you 🤷🏻‍♂️ Put a camera in the cockpit of ANY pilot & I guarantee you could find fault!
      I’m thinking carefully about whether or not to return to filming as no matter how hard you try, there’s always a superior anonymous individual there to ‘offer advice’.
      Such a shame as it will only end up with less content for those with a genuine interest or looking for inspiration 😔🤷🏻‍♂️
