  • Mrs. Thompson is hoping her daughter Larissa will be accepted to Mango Park Preparatory School, one of the most prestigious schools in the country. Despite its reputation, Larissa is not impressed and wants to remain at her current public school. During the interview, while being questioned by Principal Montgomery, Mrs. Thompson is told that there is no longer an open spot for her daughter. Then, when Larissa wanders off during their meeting, it becomes evident that this particular student is not just gifted, but a potential genius.

My sister went through this with one of my nephews. He was always so smart and when school started he just caught on so quick. I recall when he got to high school the school claimed he did not know how to draw a circle. This was a geometry class, which was not true. So when he gets to college majoring in Engineering the Engineer professor told him he would never be an Engineer. He graduated with a double major in Engineering/math with almost a 4.00 gpa and then his MBA with a 4.0. He was just born really smart.

The child is acting like a child, and the principal labeled her as having a behavioral problem. This happens a lot, and once a child is labeled as such, a lot of other educators look at the file, and not the child, and therefore that child will not receive the best education because they will treat them like a problem child, based on that file, and not treat them like a child needing help to develop and learn base on who they are as a person...praying for the days of true change and true equality🙌🙌🙌🙌

The principal of the school failed to treat both the mother and the daughter with care. This will cost the school millions of dollars annually and perhaps it will be closed due to poor management.

Amazing!I have a genius daughter too like her Jochebed Dickson . She is five years old in basic five here in Nigeria. When she was transferred, they never believed she could cope, but amazingly, she is even toping her class and about to graduate from the primary school. She even corrects her teachers and teach her colleagues quantitative aptitude and many more. She actually started reading adult books at two with big vocabularies...

I would never want to send my kid to some “top notch” school where authority is uptight, rude, and bias towards certain kids. Regardless of their grades or intelligence, I’d never want my kid in a place where they feel unwanted and unappreciated. That can screw up their mental health and self-esteem. Which is distract them from academic learning anyways.

The most impotant thing in life is not your happiness. Happiness depends on “what happens” which is why our children are screwed up
Today. Joy is independent of what happens & gives you grit to endure the worst of situations. She should have taken the full ride all the way to the Ivy leagues. Unless your public school is in an affluent neighborhood it is deficient because they have a larger tax base by which to educate their youth by having AP classes that boost your GPA. The kids in my youth group in their community had obsolete books, not enough books to go around, no science, labs, no computer classes, welded the lockers shut, and not one AP class. Their valedictorian cannot compete with the average student in our wealthiest city neighborhood. They have smaller classes, teach coding. Numerous AP classes, ACT and SAT prep courses, and the list goes on. If they are not physically abusing our kids, we need to take every scholarship and let them know that not only we, but our entire community is standing for them and behind them.

The guy giving a 50, 000 dollar donation is considered a bribe to get their child enrolled in this prestigious school , this is not right , it would be different if it were a down payment on their tuition fees . Reminds me of an incident with my son when he was 5. My wife submitted an application for him to go to a summer camp at a prestigious private school. He had to be tested to see if he "qualified" for their summer program. The testing was done by the principal and we had to sit in the lobby until it was done. After the testing the principal brought us into the room and told us that our son not only didn't qualify, but; she said he couldn't read. There was a U.S. government E.E.O. sign on the wall behind the principal's desk. My wife told our son to read the sign. He proceeded to read the government regulations without missing a beat. The principal looked in amazement at the reading ability of our 5 year old. She had to apologize and she immediately accepted him into the summer camp.
