Guys I'm going to explain it to you. First off yes you do need a race that could work good with the class your picking but for example: If I said I wanted be a wood elf but the class I choose might not work well. You could still use the wood elf. because it might have an effect or it might not but it won't change the class. You see what I mean that was just an example to show you guys. Now on to the Class. If your wondering if your race isn't going to work well with the class you pick DON'T WORRY! because it really doesn't matter. And what I keep telling people is no matter what you choose it's ALL ABOUT how you rank and level up that character. So Make sure if you want to be a healer, DPS, Tank or whatever you level up that class as a healer, DPS, Or Tank. So I hope I gave good advice to you guys and remember it's Important how you rank or level up that class as I just said so don't worry just have fun with the class and Race you have. Reply to this If you liked my advice.
+Johan Andersson That`s how I always play . I never liked being stuck in a mold playing my character like every one else does and hate being told "your not playing your class right" when I can play how I want and still compete with those who stick to the mold .
***** I am usually casual, for a time I can go into the non-casual if many friends play the same game etc etc, but usually I just want to play it my way...
+Shaojin I share the Johan's point of view, and I'm far away from casual. There are more than one way to enjoy a game, and going optimal-for-the-killz is just one of them. ;)
+Johan Andersson then theirs me, i can have the shittiest race, on the shittiest class, and still have it overpowered as fuck. but i also just spend too much time on RPG's espicially the elder scrolls
thanks for your cool ESO videos! I can't wait to get this game on the PS4. Been waiting for ever for this game. Suffering each day... but your videos are getting me by.
I really wish they would do away with racials and just do like a birth sign system or something so you can choose what you want. That way my Nord Nightblade might be useful... My other problem with racials, is i like to do everything, and on one character. It's not that i don't like alts, i have a couple, but If i was in cyrodil, I'd hate to leave it and have to wait in que again for an hour, just so i could swap over to healing or whatever. For me, when it comes to choosing a race, i just choose what I like to play, which for me is Nord, and than build around for what I am doing. Always go max stats into health, and then enchant for either magicka or stamina depending on the build, which is usually stam-dps(bow/dw-2h) for when i am solo ganking/hunting or healing when im with a group.
Thanks Deltia. I found this *VERY* informing. I've been away from the game for a good while now and I want to get back into it. I have 4 characters that I never capped and I'm considering just starting over from scratch.
I have a were wolf wood elf templar. Interesting enough, a lot of the magicka abilities in templar function well without high magicka. And since jabs is a stamina morph, I can effectively use both resource pools and swap back and forth. They make a good sustainable DPS bow user for single target. You just cast light on your target, the stamina morph, and spam snipe. It does a ton of single target damage. And when you do run out of stamina, I switch to my healing staff bar and go into melee. You read that right. So my second bar looks like this. Explosive Charge Biting Jabs Blazing Shield (or Fire Rune) Repentance Honor the Dead So after I'm done with the bow, I shoot off a fire rune, then immediately explosive charge. By then my stamina is back and I Biting Jabs. When both resources are depleted, I switch back to bow, fire a few heavy shots. Then I go back to snipe spamming.
I'm doing research on this now, for when i get the game on PS4. Looks like i'm leaning towards a Kahjiit Nightblade... i was going to make an Argonian, but i have no use for restoration bonuses at all.
joseph sapp The Aldmeri Dominion* is Ingame actually a good faction. The leader even complains about racists that want to rid Tamriel off all the races other than elf.
EQOAnostalgia Same here. I almost always play as Kahjit on other ES games because I prefer the sleath/archer/assassin type gameplay. This video just confirmed that I should go with what I usually do.
@@michaelweiske702 shoulda kept the races aligned to their factions and not let u choose your faction for any race. I mean seriously? a Nord in the Aldmerri Dominion? COME ON! boo hoo if u wanna play as one race but ur buddy is in the faction that doesnt have that race. Stop being so picky and pick a race in ur buddies faction
+TheSaltyDays interesting points ,if anyone else trying to find out the elder scrolls online guides try Loctavan Scrolls Expert Strategy (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my brother in law got excellent results with it.
Sure you can play with whatever class suits you best but congrats to this guy he practically covered in short a mountain of things and showed us the perfect combinations of race - class and role and his choices are the smartest especially if you want 2 make a good score and impression in PvP this builds are essentials. Great job!
Notsuzpicious any race can fuck shit up with big swords but if that's all you care about then go nightblade since that's the primary DPS class (but all classes can be DPS)
Awesome video, I finally decided to give this game a try with the B2P update, I've seen dragonknight being a solid class, glad I watched this first to see how racials play into classes.
its a mmo not single player RPG. if there were no classes people would essentially become overpowered. Dont compare it to skyrim as it is a totally different game
Jerokhna Mainly because the game doesn't have the strongest builds for them, or are they a necessity in PvE or PvP. Regardless, as a veteran player, I can give you a few instances as a Khajit Nightblade where I misplay and get dunked by a Nord warrior, which I honestly think is your best choice for anything "warrior-esque." Otherwise, the Imperials are relatively strong in that category, as they don't need as much health as other classes due to their [stupidly strong] health increase racial passive, so they get points to toss at damage related specs.
NemesiSystematic Also, Imperials get that vampiric passive that can randomly save their ass. But Nightblade is basically rogue/archer designed, you've got the standard mage, Templar is tank/healer oriented and Dragonknight sadly is still Tank/Mage oriented... no REAL warrior baseline anywhere. Personally, I think 2-H is AoE oriented, Sword and Shield is Tank oriented, Staves are healer OR mage, Bows are ranged/stealth strikers, dual wield is close range damager but geared to stealth... anything else just doesn't have a good role and armor types are completely unbalanced. They basically want EVERYONE but mages running medium armor and tanks torn between medium and heavy. And lastly, for racial passives... they are so scattered that they aren't really good for any one thing except for like 3 races out of the 9 (because Imperials are just OP).
You're looking at it all wrong dude. All 4 base powers can be a warrior/fighter class, and yes even the sorcerer and nightblade, but everyone who plays are not creative enough to think of such a thing. Anyway for instance, my main is a dragonknight with 1 handed, but he plays nothing like a tank. He wears medium armor, with only damage abilities on both of his bars. Also it is very possible to be a sorcerer tank, and a healer nightblade.
Thanks for this guide Deltia! I think I will go with an Imperial Templar. Lately I have been creating characters, getting to level 10, then deleting them cause I was unhappy with my choice. But since Templar is the most flexible Class in the game, that means that throughout my entire playthrough. I can change around a few things if I am unhappy with my skill choices. Thanks again Deltia!
Awesome vid, lots of great info. I will be playing Imperial/Templar/Dps, as my main. I was thinking about Nightblade until I watched this vid. I'm not sure if the racial health skill from the Imperial would be "wasted" with a Nightblade. The builds in this vid are probably going to be insane to play. Plus I want a Khajit so I will have a Khajit/Nightblade/Dps.
Sweet! I picked Imperial-Templar-Tank right off the bat coming back into the game! Just by guessing it would be a wise choice, glad I'm not mistaken so far :) lol. Oh btw I really like your channel. Keep up the good ESO vids mate :)
this is nice. its explained really well. Im rolling a Temp and went Imperial for 1.6 stam two handed dps. I have a dk dps dark elf currently. i got lucky i picked dark elf and dk when the game launched not knowing any better
i am an Argonian Dragon Knight, fighting for The Ebonheart Pact i got to the point where i sweep the floor with enemies and can often solo bosses. i focus my skills chart on attack, defense and a bit of healing.
I'm currently using a breton templar. I find that most templars, regardless of race, are fine with their stamina and health regen (aka: repentance), so a boost to magika is a welcomed buff. Imperials are probably the best for templars however I really enjoy the Breton as some templar skills won't scale off stamina in 1.6, and thats where the passives are great.
easily the most informative video ive watched in a while, trying to brush up before eso releases for xbox1. Any thoughts on being a kajit (cant spell) nightblade vampire? i was essentially that in skyrim, but i dont want to bomb at pvp.
i love the nord templar as a tank i may not do a ton of damage but i can certainly stay alive for days. with a group dungeon or possibly pvp pretty good at keeping the heat off a team.
I'm playing an argonian as dragon knight tank. I'm using sword and board/resto staff, combining that with the werewolf abilities and race resistance to poison. Seems cool right now.
I'm a bit overwhelmed atm. I made a night blade and a Templar at levels 6 and 10. Both use bow. Both Redguard. Templar seems like like a class that would allow me to have a better time soloing so far with the Spear line. I just bought game 4 days ago. I thought i made a mistake choosing Redguard as a Templar but i guess i didn't. Now i can continue to immerse myself with out worrying if i choose the wrong race.
Great video! As you explained, I think Dunmer DK and Khajit NB are probably the two best "power combinations" in the game right now. However, I'm struggling to find a real synergy for Templar. Especially since I feel like both "stamina templar" and "magicka templar" are somewhat viable. I wonder what your opinion would be? So far I've been experimenting with two classes (imperial race is not available to me): - High Elf: magicka focused, possible the most versatile build in the game, fulfilling all three roles of tank, DPS, and healing to some degree; very enjoyable in PvE because you can't really go wrong with almost any (magicka focused) skill choices - Nord (wouldn't pick again; instead probably go Redguard or Orc or even Bosmer): as a pure tank, stamina focused; so far I enjoy it a lot, feels pretty much as strong as the classic redguard DK stamina tank build. What race would you pick for templar, aside from Imperial? Do you focus magicka or stamina? Do you spend points in health (especially for the tank)? And would Argonian templar be a reasonable choice?
Karl Lenasson Yeah that's a good question on a viable balance between the Templar. Probably something with magicka and health even a Dunmer would be a great pick.
Great video,Very informative, i just picked up the game and have no idea really what im doing, right off the bat i picked high elf sorcerer, would appreciate some advice on what abilities to have on my bar, what ultimate i should use and what passives/skills to put points into?
ok subbed ... youre very informative and precise... i like that.... im hoping this august i get this game for my birthday it looks great and im a HUGE ES fan... played them all so far except this one.... all of my friends have it and theyll be so far levelled i could use the information you suggest... thanks liked and subbed.
good thing i watch this video before i gotten too far into the game. I just start playing eso a few day, i was planning to built a fire mage / duel wield like i did in skyrim. so i pick a sorcery class/dark elf. I got to lvl 5 and realize the sorcery class don't have any fire spell that would benefit the dark elf race. I have to recreate my character to dragon knight/ dark elf.
Loving these videos so far, they've helped a lot but I do have a question though. When it comes to DPS in general, who puts out the most damage overall The DK Dummer or Sorc High Elf? I'm a big DPS build fan and since I plan to start playing ESO on PS4 soon I was curious as to which of those builds do you find has the smoothest time putting down enemies? I sure there is no simple answer to a question like that which is why I'm more interested in what you find works best soloing.
I think nords are a great choice, although their main ability is to tank, if you upgrade them right (as a dragonknight, I haven't played as the other classes) they can potentially fill the role of a DPS
Thinking of buying this game as a few of my friends will be getting it. Ive seen it played but I'm none the wiser as to what class I should be. As I'm really a novice to elder scrolls I guess I'm going to struggle to get to grips with casting and weapon upgrades..
Hie. Love all of your ESO videos. I am very new to Eso online. Have only played skyrim before. I wonder about if you go as a Dark Elf dps fire dude;) Do you put most of the points in magicka and use a destro staff? Or do you maby go dual wield and out points in Stamina. I know about the second bar(havent gotten it yet) , but i have no clue what to do;) Dps, tank, healer, dragonknight. Dark elf, orc, kajiit nb or what;-) haha
I started the game just a few days ago. I didn't know that much about races/classes other than the fact elves are pretty magical. I'm glad I picked a high elf sorc the first time around! I'm however struggling with the unique things I wanted to do like a bow mage for example. Is that even plausable? I'm fine with being an all around full mage but I came in ot this game also thinking I could be customizable. Now I'm not sure..
Hey BigBalls, Did I hear you right when you said the disintegrate procs on lighting staff? So as a Wolf High Elf Sorc should I be running a lighting staff instead of my master flame staff? That would mean impulse spam would have a 6% chance to one shot people? I know your busy mate, drop by sometime! We miss ya. Also last night, just before the server went down in PVP, Red stole Blues scroll, So the Noc boys and AD hunted Red down got the scroll back and returned it to Blue before the reset. lol. The devs must have been watching cause the took the server down just after Blue capped it. It was epic doing a dance in Red blood with the Blues. I got so many Red messages after that. lol Keep up the videos mate there awesome. Cheers Gober

He asked why we would want to play with Ebonheart Pact.
Answer: THEY ARE THEY BLOODY GOOD GUYS
I love Argonians but have been proven multiple times that I would be an Orc if it came to my play style. DAMN YOU TAMRIEL LOGIC!!
Damn, 6 years ago I watched this. And now hes back for good 👍
I play a Nord just for roleplaying and cosmetic purposes.
I play Nord because Vikings are the shit.
Whamathore I just made a AWESOME dk Viking today!
Ragnar Lothbrok not surprising that ragnar plays as a viking lol
I want to play Nord because I identify as a Nord
Same reason I play khajiits
Very impressive and informative video. Thanks! A really professional production, I must say.
Hmm, I hate optimizing, just select one you like and make it the class you want to play... maybe not optimal, but fun :)

2:16 "Based on lore."
That's why the mortal enemies of Argonians and Dark Elves are on the same side.
Very good guide, but shrek is an ogre, not an Orc
I just went for a Breton Nightblade. Actually ended up going for heavy armor a bit through, and now it's great. Moral is its okay to experiment!
I made a dunmer Templar dual weilder and it's awesome so far.
Thanks cause ive have been make hundreds of new characters trying to find the right one and i still am doing that to this day
what do you mean, "why would you go that" e.g. the ebonheart pact. I'm that alliance and we're dominating!
I really appreciate how well done your videos are. It really shows how much effort you put into this and makes it worth watching.
Im an argonian templar healer, a monster healing in dungeons and trials :3

Am I the only one that only plays in first person?
+Fisheo - Gaming and more! nah i do
same i go to third to look at my character on occasions or for sneaking to look around but other than that im always 1st
Third person for sneaking or seeing how far people are away while chasing me. Generally first person though.
First Person is really bad if you're completely serious in being the best
I explore in 3rd fight in first. :D

Interesting enough, a lot of the magicka abilities in templar function well without high magicka.

Thanks. this has been very useful in choosing a character and class in the game.
Though that is the reason why you made the video of course.
Great video, definitely gonna toss my friends this way before they make their characters in March.
easily the most informative video ive watched in a while, trying to brush up before eso releases for xbox1.
Dude. Thanks a lot. Watched the entire video. Helped a lot. Subbed.
Awesome video!..very detail and easy to understand. Thank you!
Disease resistance doesn't reduce the heal debuff, it reduces the damage from disease damage.
i made a Templar High Elf and its just good, since the altmer has magicka regen, so i can pretty much tanking and healing , and thanks for the guide
considering i have a breton templar thats acting as a healer your video basically covered everything
So far I've been experimenting with two classes (imperial race is not available to me):
- High Elf: magicka focused, possible the most versatile build in the game, fulfilling all three roles of tank, DPS, and healing to some degree; very enjoyable in PvE because you can't really go wrong with almost any (magicka focused) skill choices
- Nord (wouldn't pick again; instead probably go Redguard or Orc or even Bosmer): as a pure tank, stamina focused; so far I enjoy it a lot, feels pretty much as strong as the classic redguard DK stamina tank build.
Great video,Very informative, i just picked up the game and have no idea really what im doing, right off the bat i picked high elf sorcerer, would appreciate some advice on what abilities to have on my bar, what ultimate i should use and what passives/skills to put points into?
ok subbed ... youre very informative and precise... i like that.... im hoping this august i get this game for my birthday it looks great and im a HUGE ES fan... played them all so far except this one.... all of my friends have it and theyll be so far levelled i could use the information you suggest... thanks liked and subbed.
very helpful vid man, since there is no sub I turned my intrests back into this game!
good thing i watch this video before i gotten too far into the game.
Cool to see the game evolution
Good advice and am glad that my first 2 character a Sorcerer and a Temp both High elf where Correct, so for a nightbalde a Khadjiit you say! ok!
On the eve of eso release of consoles this is where I'll be this channel will save ya life
Only 45 mins left till its out here in UK:):):):)
Pick the Aldmerie domainon ps4 guys join the eagle
Thinking of buying this game as a few of my friends will be getting it. Ive seen it played but I'm none the wiser as to what class I should be. As I'm really a novice to elder scrolls I guess I'm going to struggle to get to grips with casting and weapon upgrades..
This is going to really help when it comes out for Xbox one

Hie. Love all of your ESO videos. I am very new to Eso online. Have only played skyrim before.
I wonder about if you go as a Dark Elf dps fire dude;) Do you put most of the points in magicka and use a destro staff? Or do you maby go dual wield and out points in Stamina. I know about the second bar(havent gotten it yet) , but i have no clue what to do;)
Dps, tank, healer, dragonknight.
Hey BigBalls,
Did I hear you right when you said the disintegrate procs on lighting staff?
So as a Wolf High Elf Sorc should I be running a lighting staff instead of my master flame staff? That would mean impulse spam would have a 6% chance to one shot people?
I know your busy mate, drop by sometime! We miss ya. Also last night, just before the server went down in PVP, Red stole Blues scroll, So the Noc boys and AD hunted Red down got the scroll back and returned it to Blue before the reset. lol.
The devs must have been watching cause the took the server down just after Blue capped it. It was epic doing a dance in Red blood with the Blues. I got so many Red messages after that. lol
Keep up the videos mate there awesome.
Cheers
Gober
What class would you recommend for an Argonian? Id love help.
Hinoceros Whatever you like. Their passives aren't generally suited for a specific role other than tanking for self heal.
This helped me so much thank you!!! Can't wait to play the game for ps4 (:
Good ideas very well presented! Thanks for the video
I settled for a nightblade High Elf. Epic Character! :)
Really helpful I just picked up the game
Good info bro. Just scribed up keep up the good work.
Im new to ESO. My first character is a Breton Tank with breath of life for self heals (my only magicka skill on my bar).
Need advice on how to actually play the game? Looking for a solid day one guild?
