It is no secret, across the internet, how impressed I Am with not only this song & Stan Walker, but also the deep impact of this masterpiece. My spirit is encouraged and my soul feels satisfied witnessing the deep validation that Stan and the Maori culture is experiencing. Sooo thrilled that Stan and his entire group are making their first trip out here to the mid-Pacific to perform next Saturday, May 4. What a thrilling time to be fully alive!!! I MUA!!! (Ever forward!!!) Interested to see what direction you take this journey next, Luke. You already have the link to the live performance of this song, which has also been groundbreakingly impactful. yesss, I'm so happy you got to react and vibe out to this song 🥳 sorry for the novel comment 😂😅 and Stan walker just makes me so proud to be Maori 💪 Also, Bob Marley came to Nz in 1979 and connected instantly with the Maori people here and our culture. No joke at all but a lot of us were raised believing he was our uncle 😂 He has influenced a lot of Nz artists here including Stan. Stan Walker also acts in the 'Mt Zion' movie with that live video footage of Bob Marley's visit. Stan just did an interview last month also with Ziggy Marley in regards to his film 'One Love.' The haka was originally a war dance but over time has evolved to be used for various occasions. This is how we display our History, with pride, unity and strength. ❤ Much love

When Marley came here to Aotearoa NZ in 1979, Stan wasn't born but no doubt his parents were at the one n only Western Springs concert ❤️💛💚🔥 along with the tens of thousands of us and our Polynesian whānau (family) .... We had 2 defining protests here with the Māori Land March in 1975 and Bastion Point in 1977 to 78 and Bob was talkin revolution ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾 ... and reggae beats are pretty similar to the way we play guitars and sing anyway so it is easy for us to play, there are many great reggae bands here as there are in Te-Moana-nui-a-Kiwa, the Pacific Ocean and Islands ... Stan is just a very humble Paboy doing what comes natural to him with his powerful pipes and his blessed talented whānau, hapū and iwi .... As Māori, we all trace our whakapapa (geneology) back to our mountain, river and lands (those that weren't stolen by colonial forces) and we stand on the shoulders of our illustrious tīpuna (ancestors) and their knowledge passed down through Te Reo Māori me onā tikanga, our cherished language and philosophies .... Our tīpuna fought and died for our future against all odds, the colonisers tried to get rid of us and failed and each generation continues the fight for our #ManaMotuhake, our right to self governance and for #ManaMokopuna, power to our generations to come .... Enjoy 😊 ....he poho kererū mātou ki a Stan me ōna pukenga mīharo rawa atu💓.... We are so proud of Stan, Karawhiua ki te ao e kare ... PS ... The weapons are real, the white patu the woman hold are traditionally made from whale bone, the green patu made from our jade which we call Pounamu and the Taiaha carved from native trees ... They are deadly in the hands of those who know our martial arts, js ....

Nz has one of the largest reggae following soutside of the Caribbean islands, the largest and most successful bands in nz, are reggae bands and/or reggae influenced ie Six60, L.A.B, House of Shem, 1814, Katchafire, Fat Freddy's drop,Son's of Zion, Tomorrow People, Corella, Kora, Salmonella Dub, Tike Tane,Herbs, Summer Thieves,The Black Seeds, Trinity Roots. Six60 and L.A.B are probably the most influential and popular, with Six60 regularly selling out 50/60,000 seat stadiums(which had never been done before for local acts)
