Because they don't play Metal music. Their music consists largely of chugs and breakdowns. Neither of which are characteristics of Metal. Asking Alexandria are, along with all bands similar to them (WCAR, Attack Attack, Woe is Me, Abandon All Ships etc.) are essentially punk bands. The style they play evolved from Hardcore Punk, not Hard Rock/old school Heavy Metal, like modern Metal genres like Power Metal, Black Metal, Death Metal, etc. did.
Sure, they all have the same source, but they still evolved into two seperate genres alltogether. Just because they came from the same place, doesn't mean they still are the same.
