Excellent explanation on braid Tyler as always thanks for your time and great Info

I run low profile baitcast reels with shallow spools and use braid due to the smaller diameter to test weight so I can maintain a higher amount of line on my reels with adequate strength. With that being said I usually tie on a 6-12’ fluorocarbon leader to combat the line float and visibility issues.

All my rods have braid on them. I prefer high carrier for castability. I use Goat Rope made by Bruiser Baits. It is a 12 carrier braid and it never lets me down. I also use 6 to 10 feet of fluorocarbon leader on everything except my flipping rods. I live in Florida so most of our waters are stained with low visibility.

I remember WAY WAY BACK IN THE DAY when Roland Martin brought out the first braid, it was made from KEVLAR.
Nothing like the dyneema and Spectra or gel spun polyethylene.
    Many many years ago.
I’m trying to make it to next spring time and my big 71 🦉💯👈🏻🎣. In a physical rut right now. Trying to catch up for time lost. Wishful thinking on my part.

Great video and explanation! I’ve found you can’t beat suffix 832 imo best all around braid, I don’t like the “slippery” braided lines, just don’t trust my knots with those… could be totally in my head though lol

I fish with straight fluorocarbon 100% of the time. I do not use spinning reels, only regular and BFS baitcast reels. I try braid once or twice per year and can't stand the rough feel of it. I don't like having high end rods and reels that feel like I'm reeling in sandpaper. Also, the added stretch really helps with keeping a fish hooked. Obviously the fact that it's much less visible in water gets me more bites too. I've had many days where I catch two or three times as many fish as a buddy of mine that runs straight braid.

I just modded a few 150/200 sz crankers with shallow spools and ceramic bearings and carbontec drag washers and pulling out one thrust washer out of the drag stack. They fling around 1/32 oz jigs and micro baits with ease.
Don’t forget about the curly tail grubs that you have hidden. 1/32 oz jig plastic tail and hang on. I’ve caught almost every different species in my area. Trout, catfish, perch,Stripers, Crappie, ALL of the pan fish, turtles, frogs, wipers, pickerel, no eels or carp yet. Fire line FUSED 2/6 lb test in acid green and yellow so you can see the light pickups.
For quick change leaders I use two perfection end loops and run one inside the other. Looks great on paper. It’s been 20 degrees and windy and at 70 I’m not willing to give up my life just yet by freezing my chubby Butt off. 🦉🎣 fish smart, fish again and again.
CATCH AND RELEASE, unless I would like a few for dinner. Maybe 4 or 5 Crappie sandwiches 🥪 🦉🎣

How does the fluro fish with top water?

    • @nottomgreen
      @nottomgreen 2 часа назад

@@vaughnmcbride It does just fine in my opinion. Sure it's more dense than mono, but it's not like it sinks like a rock. I think Tyler mentioned it in this video, but saturated braid sinks as well, and everybody seems to use straight braid when using frogs. I'd say give fluoro a shot! I use it with poppers, frogs, buzz baits, etc.

@@tphvictims5101 That's an interesting way to attach leaders to your main line!

@@tphvictims5101 That's an interesting way to connect your leader to your main line! Another bait that just seems to catch everything under the sun for me is the Z-Man 1/8oz flashback mini. I throw away the junk plastic trailers that are included and use small plastic craws or paddle tail minnows instead.

Braid is my favorite, I’ve probably lost out on bass not biting but at the end of the day it’s saved me from losing a lot of fishing lures i use 50 pound test so I can pull it out of whatever I get caught in compared to mono or flouro I bank fish mostly, but I still catch a lot of bass despite using braid.
But I just bought two poles with mono and flouro so far I still don’t like it 😂 but just wanted to try something new, maybe it’ll grow on me but so far I’m like “ehh”

To answer your question you asked in this video, yes, I want your input on when to use leaders vs straight braid or fluorocarbon. I use braid to fluorocarbon leader on just about everything. Thanks. 👍🇺🇸

I have noticed I need mono or flouro in the winter, even in our stained florida waters. The braid works fine the rest of the year, but once it gets cold I have to switch it up.

I’m a weirdo… I use 13 lbs Almight sinking braid to a 30ft leader, 7 lbs FC Leader.. get the best of all worlds.. Alberto knot in the spool isn’t an issue

    Been fishing for 40 years
The last 10 years, once a year I buy braid- cast it 2-3 times- and it backlashes so bad I have to cut it out
