Summary of the Webinar:
• Use high quality material...Preferably the ones developed by experienced tutors
• Take several practice tests…Not just one test, multiple tests
• Make a study plan and stick to it…don’t get discouraged easily, but rather see every mistake as a learning opportunity
• Don’t ignore the importance of pacing…allocate valuable time to worthy questions
• Don’t underestimate certain sections of the GRE test (Quant, verbal, AWA)…Maintain a healthy balance
• Don’t rely on the calculator…train your mental math
• Don’t undervalue vocabs…study them and incorporate them in your study plan
• Read a lot…whether fiction or non-fiction…good resources (The Economist, The New Yorker, Politico)
• 3 minutes per question MAX…if not done, move on to the next question
• Practice, practice, practice
• For AWA - allocate 5 minutes as a perp time for brainstorming, define a good structure for the essay…use 20 minutes to write the essay
• For Verbal, favorably go through the time efficient questions first (e.g. Sentence Equivalence, Text Completion) before going through the usually tougher ones (e.g. Reading Comprehension, Inference or Paragraph Argument)
• Best material for AWA: ETS has two webpages, one for the Issue Task and one for the Argument Task
At least we know one person was paying attention! Great work :)
