Hello. I have no skin in the game. I know this channel orientation is centre right but I am just wondering about history. Why would there be socialists in any society? Are there issues that they are trying to address? Historically the playing ground hasn't been level for everyone. IMO that is the genesis of left leaning thinking. What is wrong with that? A lot of the problems in western economies come from hard capitalist thinking such as maximising profits. Thats how everything got outsourced to China. My personal belief is that there must be a balance between left and right.
I have tried to discuss with persons like this (some of my close familly). And I have stated from the begining ..."OK, Putin is bad, we agree on that...can we go further? Being both agreed on that?" I have been in the academic world for over 40 years. I can tell you there are lots of Marxists in academia, but there are very very few Marxist-Leninists.
When I say we have Marxists, I mean, only people who have studied the works of Karl Marx and find some ideas with which they agree, and things which they do not agree, or which they considered to be out dated. Most typically academics in the US see Marxism, as a way of understanding capitalism societies but do not find Marxism useful in building a democratic socialist society they would like to see in the future
But governments often have 'big governments' in order to make employment figures look better. Then when the good times turn bad, they make those jobs redundant. They certainly do that in Australia. I agree with 99% of this, I would just dispute the term "Marxism-Leninism" as a description for the identity politics moral chaos of the West since China has is doing pretty well with their Marxism-Leninism even though it took them decades to figure it out.
I agree with you. I only used the term because that's the term they used in the material. China has created a hybrid system that is far superior to what we have in the West, so it does work if applied properly.

Hello. I have no skin in the game. I know this channel orientation is centre right but I am just wondering about history. Why would there be socialists in any society? Are there issues that they are trying to address? Historically the playing ground hasn't been level for everyone. IMO that is the genesis of left leaning thinking. What is wrong with that? A lot of the problems in western economies come from hard capitalist thinking such as maximising profits. Thats how everything got outsourced to China. My personal belief is that there must be a balance between left and right.
I have tried to discuss with persons like this (some of my close familly). And I have stated from the begining ..."OK, Putin is bad, we agree on that...can we go further? Being both agreed on that?" Guess what? We can't! And now I am the dinosaur, the antique relique! Because I cannot appeal to moral standards, social rules, religion as liant and familly as nucleus of society! All of those are nonsense for the younger generation and for the "cool daddies and mommies"!
