The Cousins is Karen M. McManus's worst book. I kinda liked the ending, but the book itself was so boring, literally nothing happened until the last few chapters.

One of us is lying is one of my least favourite books of all time 😂 although I'm not sure I can really say that because I only read about 6 pages before I guessed the twist, looked it up to check because I assumed I must be wrong and it can't be that obvious...😑... I was right and it was the same old harmful mental health stereotypes and just had no time for it 🙃

i've read all of karren m mcmanus' books except her most recent one and i'd probably recommend the cousins the least out of her books. two can keep a secret and nothing more to tell were my favourite of hers

Your thoughts on Educated were really interesting and so true! I loved the book but there were parts that were skimmed over and I remember thinking, hang on, what?

I agree with you on Educated! I read it a few years ago, and I felt like it was marketed a way that made it seem it was something it wasn’t. I liked it, but I unhauled it a year ago.

I really enjoy Karen m McManus! The cousins is good, but just a bit separate to her others, the rest feel like AGGTM- esque, the cousins is similar but just no school setting
I read The Cousins this year and thought it was okay, I liked some stuff, didn't like others, the book was overall too long for how little happens and one relationship felt a bit icky because of how it was set up; I haven't read One of us is lying, since I don't think I'll like it but I found Two Can Keep a Secret really fun; just know that they're all VERY MUCH YA, you'll probably think of them as "young YA"
Agree, I don't think The Cousins is her strongest book. She usually writes great couples/friends relationship, but not in this one.

Have you read the Unwind Dystology? It's YA, and a Neal Shusterman (Scythe/Thunderhead). It's really good!!

You could always put a few you are struggling to fit into vlogs and then do a vlog thats like "ahhh if i dont read these i have to unhaul them!"
I know you talk about not liking to do long videos bc you don’t think ppl will watch. But I actually watch all of your videos over 25 min and seek them out. Not saying you gotta make them all long, just that your long videos are def appreciated as well as shorter ones like these!

I love Karen M McManus' books but I could not tell you any of the plot of the books...they are truly just quick fun reads for me

Please don't feel bad about skipping Cousins. It is McManus' worst book. The premise is interesting, but there was not true connection to the characters, there were so many characters that it sometimes felt hard to keep track of, and the pay off was actually kind of lame, in addition to the book just being slow. Her other books are far better.
Apparently this is an unpopular opinion but The Cousins by Karen M. McManus was one of my favorites of hers!

The Wife Between Us is the best book by that author duo.... but that isn't saying much. And it's the same book as The Last Mrs. Parrish but better 😅
