Hello PJ! For some reason I don't have that middle line on the outside of the ring shank that you use to get the length and to flow onto. What have I done wrong? Thank you
I just spend hours and hours on the exact same ring trying to get it right for a customer last week only to see how easy it could have been . lol thanks for a great vid again 👍
I have been watching your videos and was curious about scaling a diamond to certain size...say I import your 5 mm diamond and want to quickly scale it 1.9 mm. In Matrix you have two options to change but I am lost in how to do it here???
I use Rhino only. If you are in Rhino or Matrix. You can 3D scale by turn on the vertex Osnap. Snap on the diameter of a diamond and type the size you want.
Thank you, this was very helpful! I just have an issue with using the flow command to transfer the stones and prongs onto the the ring. When I use it, the stones and prongs don't sit flat on the surface but instead are rotated. Any idea why that might happen?
I don't know what you did on your model. and how different is than mine. if you want to send me your 3dm file and explain what you did. I can take a look. pj@pjchendesign.com
The stones for invisible setting have a cut on the pavilion. It is not just the model part, it is also critical for how the stone is cut. Unfortunately, that is the only one that I don't cover in my stone setting course.

You can use the Extract IsoCurve to extract a line.

Can u explain if we use flow along curve command stone become stretch then how we will drill to shank?
Sometime you can flow with rigid option on, it will prevent the object to be deform.

I have a stone setting CAD course at pjs-school.thinkific.com/courses/StoneSettingModeling
You can check out the course content with a free account.
Recently upgraded to Rhino6 what are you doing for cutters on your stones? How do you flow them without distortion? thanks
when you flow along curve. there is an option "rigid". Make sure that is check., so it won't deform the object.

how to make any modification in split shank example increases step Hight ,metal width how to modification
I always keep the original curves. so I can redo the sweep to change size. if it only need to be wider a little. you can try 1D scale.
How you made it diamond?
