That is a very nice model. It's such a shame that no NYC Hudsons were ever preserved in real life due to NYC's very poor financial situation in the 1950s, but there is one surviving tender, and a few other parts that have also been salvaged. Hopefully, a new Hudson is built in the future, like with the PRR T1.
Actually, their position wasn't so bad. Albert Perlman wanted to go modern, so virtually all steam was erased from the roster, as he didn't want any steam saved so they could start fresh. There was lots of value in scrap from those steam locomotives. Luckily, there were a couple of Mohawks saved, probably because they were 'hidden' and weren't scrapped. He also adopted CTC and went from four track 251 territory to two track, 261 territory for the New York to Chicago mainline, expanding to other lines as time progressed. He was a visionary in the railroad industry.
A gorgeous, classy locomotive
The black with Grey stripes and NYC lettering looks great, and a sleek looking loco
Very nice. That is a gorgeous locomotive and it looks perfect in the black paint scheme. Correct color doesn't really matter, as long as the passenger cars match the engine. Purists may crab a little, but it is what it is, I guess. As far as wiring, buss is usually the way to go, especially for us conventional guys. My new layout is a 24x18 L, with the two mains up and running. I'm using three lockons for each main, while I stage the industrial and commercial switching areas, so I can get the wiring worked out correctly. As always, an excellent video.
The “Dreyfuss Hudson,” designed by Henry Dreyfuss the famous industrial designer
Beauty!
I recently purchased a great looking scale lionel Pacific locomotive in B&O blur for president Harrison for a bargain price of 325, Trainz had same one listed for over 900
Looks really sharp, Chris
I love when a fantasy scheme makes one go "why didn't the actual railroad think of that?" What a gorgeous paint scheme!
Awesome video 😊
What a Beautiful Train.
I love that locomotive, it looks and sounds great Chris. I was excited to see this model had the smoking whistle. Thanks for another awesome video.
Beautiful custom run Dreyfus Hudson! Such an iconic locomotive and era of streamlining. Correct me if I’m wrong but is there no chuff sound when the bell is activated? I replayed that segment several times with the volume up and couldn’t hear the chuff. Besides that I also really like the drive wheel lights on these. Such a small, but neat looking feature. Thanks again for another great review!
Wow! That's a sweet one! Thanks for sharing! ✌🏼👍🏼👍🏼
beautiful engine!
Thanks once again for a fine review, Chris. Liked also the layout of your correspondent, William. His layout track plan reminds me of Jason's (in Detroit). Nice long runs!
Jr Junction has a lot of MTH Dreyfuss engines still
That is a gorgeous engine Chris. If I had the NYC on my layout, I definitely have one. I mean, I could get one with matching passenger cars... 😁
Trainworld's absurd custom run price markups, in upwards of $800 on some items, have soured me (and a few others) on any future Trainworld custom runs. A shame...MTH did a nice job on these, I've been very pleased with mine. Really like the lit driving wheels too.
That version is sweet! But I still like the version I got better. 😁
Very nice
Looks great
And a
I am not a big fan of fantasy schemes
Maybe because I can't afford prototypical and fantasy schemes 😅
As usual you produce awesome videos
Awesome engine I have a question I have a mth sd70 ace it's locked in neutral it will run with my z,1000 transformer it is equipped with dcs I have a dcs commander and it wont run I watched a video on how to unlock to dcs on the transformer you hit the horn and then 5 bells you get two horn blasts it's unlocked then you hook up the dcs turn the power off the track for 15 seconds then hit sound button then direction button then the grey button and it' supposed to start up it worked on his engine but not mine it won't even start up any suggestions
Sweeeeeeet.......
Chris do you have a Lionel version as well?
And if so which one do you prefer?and why?
I don't ask to put you on the spot, but I value your opinions
William - I do not have the Lionel version. A friend of mine does and I hope to run it soon so I can answer your question!
