Jane Levy's go-for-broke acting in this movie is yet another example of "awards-worthy performances in horror films" - I just wish the big award shows would get over their anti-horror bias already. Great reaction as always! :)
Levy's complete lack of props would be followed by Toni Colette getting snubbed for Hereditary, clinching that the ego(t)s just shouldn't be taken seriously as they want us to if they keep pulling this malarky
In a very strange way Mia ended up having like all the horror movie cliche roles in this one movie! The Junkie, the villain, the victim and final girl!
omg I never noticed that for some reason she is also the one who is not just ignoring the creepy stuff like she knows this isn't because shes is off the drugs
10:14 Her acting here is superb. I've never seen such a genuine display of fear in a movie before. And this was VERY well done remake that greatly rivals the original, possible even surpasses it.
Your reaction to her seeing her reflection in the mirror was perfect, that scene will haunt me forever.. I remember thinking to myself as it played out “well that’s going to give me a nightmare or two”…
Such a great remake, it gets a hard time for not having Bruce Campbell involved, but that just shows how loved he is. Some people just can’t accept Evil Dead without him. There’s a new Evil Dead movie coming with Bruce and Raimi producing, let’s hope it’ll be great like this one.
It's sad that this movie didn't get love when it came out, I'd blame that on the dozens of lack luster remakes that came out before this + the lack of Bruce rubbing people the wrong way, I'd say the time for a new installment couldn't be better and people will probably be a lot more accepting this go around in the same way that people have been receptive to the new hellraiser.
Bruce and Raimi produced this 2013 remake also. Bruce has doing the promotion for this at comic con along with Jane Levy and Fede and everything. He was really backing Mia as a character and Jane's performance. Sad how they got a lot of unwarranted hate when the movie was so damn good, just because people wanted Ash.
One of the best remakes ever in my opinion. Regardless of genre, this film was sensational. I'm forever bummed Mia's story ended here. I think she could have easily carried her own trilogy
Jane Levy was actually buried alive for the scene where shes dug up.. they wanted shilo fernandez (david) to actually feel the stress of having to get her out before the air ran out...shes a badass
One of the greatest horror movies ever made. Not many jump scares, but actual chill factor. Excellent directing, perfectly paced. This, and Bram Stoker's Dracula are my absolute favorite horror movies.
I finally got the cojones to watch this one recently--- after avoiding it for a decade because of its reputation for being so brutal and gory. Glad I saw it, because my curiosity would have itched forever. Yes, it's a supremely brutal film to endure for its relentless mayhem and wince-inducing savagery. I just wish it had a tad more humor because comedy relief is a necessity in something like this. Gore for the sake of it doesn't please me at all, so I can't say I fell in love with this movie. Have to admit that I loved the little homages and nods to the original franchise: hearing the demonic, deep voice saying "Join us" over an establishing shot of the cabin exterior (it was rather subtle but effective); seeing Ash's decrepit old car, The Delta, sitting by the cabin; a light bulb filing with blood in the end credits, and so on. I expected touches like this, being a fan of the films and the show, and it was nice to have them. Thanks for sharing your shock and your grimacing, squirming, and recoiling, LOL! It was fun to watch.
It should be noted that this isn't a remake, it was supposed to be followed up by an Army of Darkness 2 with Bruce Campbell coming back and joining forces with Mia. The director and Jane Levy had an issue with each other apparently but it seems to have been cleared up so I'm hoping one day it still gets made.
@@whichDude That was way after, iirc Ash Vs Evil Dead kind of replaced Army of Darkness 2 and when that was cancelled he said he was retiring the character. And there has been rumors that he is at least getting a cameo in the new film.
LOL 😆 👍 This was such an outstanding reaction video for spooky season. ❤ 😱 🎥 Brandon gleefully laughing at truly horrific scenes in this film made it an absolute joy 🏆 😂
I’m so glad you watched this! A lot of people haven’t and they just don’t know what they’re missing. I was I. Theaters for this and can tell you it’s the only movie I’ve had to hide my eyes during some scenes. And the sound in the theater was terrifying on its own. I also didn’t sleep right for a long time after watching it. Jane Levy’s possessed demon face haunted every dark corner, the demon thing at the end lurked around every turn just waiting to crawl out and grab my legs. Uuurrghh. I have a really morbid fascination with this movie. Wish more people saw it.
same and I love horror the creepier and cringy the better but when she cuts her tongue with the box cutter or when the guy with the long hair pulls the needle out his face
Jane Levy's performance is what makes this remake just a little bit more interesting than the original. The scene where she says there's something in the room with her scared me for life.
29:08 Brandon represents all of the boys with that inital reaction 🤣 One of my favorite movies, it just has this unique feel for me.. thank you so much for doing this 😍
Jane Levy is such an underrated actress, her performance here is absolutely incredible and horrifying. The way she goes on w/ the “we’re gonna get you” rhyme sends shivers down my spine every time I watch this movie
Originally, they wanted a sequel to this, then Army of Darkness 2, then both Mia AND Ash together. But things changed and we got Ash Vs Evil Dead for 3 seasons, which was still a blast. We might get an animated sequel to the show too.
Jane Levy should have been nominated for an academy award. I’m serious. She remained truly frightening while also being beautiful in a dark sad way. Plus her arc is great.
To think this remake was a year or two after The Cabin in the Woods made fun of the Evil Dead setup every which way, so to make a hyper serious Evil Dead as well as they did was probably no easy feat.
31:05 That was the plan initially but Bruce thought it would have been too cheap of a cameo for Ash to do. However Fede Alvarez (director/writer) always wanted to connect Ash and Mia in future sequels of this Evil Dead which never materialized sadly, cause i would have loved to see those.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this film. One of my favorite horror films , if not my favorite one of the 2010s. With that being said... I still believe that the way Eric just went out of his way to summon that demon is one of the biggest "wtf is this guy doing" moments in horror that i've seen 😂 Like, he goes out of his way to read, out loud, words from a book they found in a basement full of dead cats with blood all over it saying "Don't write it, don't say it" Come on Fede, you could have found another way. 🤣
By the way, it would be dope to react to "Don't Breathe" also starring Jane Levy and directed by the same director of this movie. It's definitely worth a reaction
I really liked this flick! The originals are classics, but there’s an emotional primal weight to a lot of scenes in this that really upped the scariness for me.
This is definitely my favorite Evil dead. I love Jane Levy - new favorite final girl. " Feast on this MF ;) " Reminiscent of Ash's " swallow this " but back to you Brandon ... where you been 10 months? I ask fondly- I miss your movie reactions : ) more please
I love Saw, seen all kinds of messed up shit online, and yet this movie still has some of the hardest to watch scenes I’ve ever sat through. The face sawing and tongue split is ROUGH
This was definitely one of the best horror remakes in recent years. So gory but over th top yet realistic to the point of making anyone even horror fans uneasy. Jane Levy killed this role and her second film working with director Fede Alvarez, the first being Don't Breathe (2016). That film was so original and very thrilling and should be next on your list for October.
Back when this came out it was indeed intended to have a post-credits scene where Mia got picked up by some driver while wandering down the road after all that happened just like it did here, but just like you mentioned the driver would turn out to be Bruce Campbell's Ash, connecting it to the original Evil Dead not as a remake or reboot but as just another instance of a group of people coming across the Necronomicon years after Ash did in the original movies. I always thought that would've been pretty cool and it's too bad they didn't ultimately include it and chose to separate it from the originals.
One of, if not my favorite horror movie remake that also stands on its own. Bummed they never did the sequels with Mia and Ash as planned. Excited for Evil Dead Rise though.
this movie should have been the revival of traditional horror movies from around the 1970s until around the late 90s but instead it sat alone as a 1 off and we just went back to endless jump scare movies it's a shame imo there has to be a place for this stuff, I'm sure this movie made profits
Really good remake. Had me super uncomfortable and cringing while in the theater. I’d highly recommend Don’t Breathe next which is from the same director!
Same director of this is directing the new Aliens movie with Ridley Scott Producing. Allegedly, He pitched it to Ridley awhile ago, and it resonated with Scott. A few years later, R. Scott called him and asked if he's interested in doing his idea. I wonder if it'll come out the same year as (Fargo series) Noah Hawley's Aliens FX/Hulu show will come out the same year.
Brandon I’d love for you to react to Ash vs Evil Dead to complete the franchise! It’s a phenomenal show and has a similar vibe to something like Peacemaker. I reckon you’d dig it
Amazing reaction Brandon. My favorite horror remake thus far. Mia is a absolute beast, the raining blood scene is stunning. Fede Alvarez did a brilliant job.
One of the better horror remakes out there. Was pleasantly impressed when I saw this in the theaters
It got so much weird hate, it's an awesome remake
One of my favorite remakes to date
Jane Levy's go-for-broke acting in this movie is yet another example of "awards-worthy performances in horror films" - I just wish the big award shows would get over their anti-horror bias already. Great reaction as always! :)
Definitely deserved some type of award for this. She was just insane
Levy's complete lack of props would be followed by Toni Colette getting snubbed for Hereditary, clinching that the ego(t)s just shouldn't be taken seriously as they want us to if they keep pulling this malarky
The bathroom scene was insane like the face reveal alone was terrifying
Dude you have no idea how happy I am that you reacted to this! Legit might be my favourite horror movie ever, I'm happy you enjoyed it

The face of pure joy when you realize _we're getting blood rain!_
In a very strange way Mia ended up having like all the horror movie cliche roles in this one movie! The Junkie, the villain, the victim and final girl!

This film has the record for most fake blood used in a movie with over 50,000 gallons used just for the blood rain
That makes me wonder how many gallons they used for The Shining’s elevator scenes
Dude. I would definitely tune in every week for ash v evil dead

The rare case where the remake improves and is a valentine to its original. Great watch.
"If Ash says: 'GROOVY' it's a good day."
😈I WANT THAT QUOTE ON A SHIRT!!! BRILLIANT!!!😈
The Evil Dead is one of the most consistently good horror franchises IMO
LOL 😆 👍 This was such an outstanding reaction video for spooky season. ❤ 😱 🎥
Brandon gleefully laughing at truly horrific scenes in this film made it an absolute joy 🏆 😂
One of the best horror remakes ever made. I’m sooo happy I got to see this one in theaters!
10:30 Love how Brandon just stops talking
He said 😟
Absolutely one of the very best remakes out there. Loved it.
In an alternate universe, Evil Dead: Necronomicon meets Puzzle Box.

When are the HoD reactions coming? The show just keeps getting better!
Fun Fact! All the characters first initials spell out Demon!

Watched this movie at 3:00 in the morning, expected a cheesy hack n slash, was not expecting the nightmare fuel that it was to be.
I reccomend Event Horizon and In the mouth of Madness. both are sam neil horror movies, and are great watches.
I rewatch both every year or so. Both creepy as hell in their own way.
‘Nastiest thing I’ve ever seen’ bro, you went through Bone Tomahawk lol, thought to be fair this movie certainly does bring it
Somehow I never saw the post-cred scene until now. I love your reactions, Brandon. I hope you do more horror movies this season and in the future. ❤
the one with her on the road? it's new. This is an extended/directors cut released not too long ago where they added deleted scenes back in.
@@jimmybonez7528 Ahhh okay. Thanks 😊
LOL that look of glee on your face when the chainsaw came out.
Jane Levy should have been nominated for an academy award. I’m serious. She remained truly frightening while also being beautiful in a dark sad way. Plus her arc is great.
i think, besides susperia, this is my favorite horror remake
Yesss! Such a great reboot. Love your content Brandon. ❤️
Ash vs Evil Dead is amazing, can't wait for you to watch it👍👍👍👍
To think this remake was a year or two after The Cabin in the Woods made fun of the Evil Dead setup every which way, so to make a hyper serious Evil Dead as well as they did was probably no easy feat.
I love that you have the same reaction I have to messed up scenes, just laughing. The mark of a true horror fan
Actually my favorite evil dead movie, the final confrontation is pure cinema!
Ash vs Evil Dead is a great show too!
This and the first hellraiser are my all time favorite horror films. 100% perfection 👍
So glad you watched this one Brandon, one of your best reaction videos expression wise. In my top 5 horror movies since 2000
A mic stand? Ooh la la!!! You're getting fancy on us!
Jane Levy is so good in Don't Breathe, I hope she gets more work in this horror/thriller space
I've loved the original Evil Dead movies pretty much my whole life and I really enjoy this remake!
Yes! so glad you watched this one. Seeing this in the theater is the most scared I've ever been watching a movie.
One of my favorite theater experiences that year
Psychiatrist: You don't need to fear, Not Holder of a Microphone Brandon is not real.
Not Holder of a Microphone Brandon:
Fun fact, for any Green Day c.2004 fans out there, Eric (the hippie lookin’ blonde guy) is St.Jimmy in the Jesus of Suburbia music video.
only horror ive seen in theatres where i've left and just wanted to watch it again immediately, ending was so hype lmao
We got the show atleast😃
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this film. One of my favorite horror films , if not my favorite one of the 2010s.

Saw in theaters with the wife. she stopped watching about halfway through, i gave a standing ovation at the end
Haha yes, I watched this is in college in 2015 and was so stoked to see the changes. That final scene was forever etched into my memory
Hey Brandon I subscribed to your channel a few months back and your my favorite to watch. Thank you for the great reactions and chill vibe 👍🙏
Happy you're enjoying the videos 😁
Lol I just noticed your picture of Charlie on the shelf and I'm jealous
I really liked this flick! The originals are classics, but there’s an emotional primal weight to a lot of scenes in this that really upped the scariness for me.

10:29
When Brandon says ,,bruh" you know it's shocking
Great reaction
Fun fact with this movie, if you take the first letter of everybody’s name, it’ll spell out DEMON
Whenever I saw this in theaters, the entire theater went nuts during the chainsaw reveal as well as the one liner-you know the one
There needs to be an Evil Dead vs Lawful Good Dead, maybe even Chaotic Neutral Dead.
I would absolutely love it you reacted to the show Ash vs Evil Dead!! It's so funny and amazing!!
2nd this big time
I fuckn love this channel
I love Jane Levy, shes such an under rated actress, ever since Suburgatory; but her acting in Evil Dead was just superb.
Loved seeing your reaction, dude! Can’t wait for you to get to Ash vs Evil Dead!
i remember when i saw this when it came out in 2013 at 17 i was scarred lmao

I was a little iffy about the characters in this but when I found out it was help directed by Bruce Campbell himself I accepted it

One of the theories behind this is that Ash is their father. Never confirmed but his post credits cameo helps the idea.
Was this an extended version or something? I never seen a couple of those scenes & I think they kind of weren't needed.
