Andrei got it right to the point. Pink Floyd says more in 3 words than most books say. You can't draw a better conclusion from it. Great !!!👍🤗
I am 65 years old now and all I used to listen to was all the mainstream music on radio .Then my friend at work said you have to give Floyd a listen and I am furious with myself that I have wasted all those years .I am now on my own personal journey from start to finish and I am in heaven .love you two new subscriber here from Warrington UK
Sorry for you. The radio will never satisfy again.
Have a great time, and the good thing is you want to listen again and again and again.....
I am 56 I’ve always listed to Pink Floyd
Agee all these years I still feel the way yall do every time
That is so wonderful ❤
Everyone's favorite Pink Floyd song is the one they just listened to.
Beautiful reaction guys. I forgot to say in my message, this Album, ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ is a concept album. It was designed to be listened to as a whole, so each song blends into the next one. Which is the reason for the abrupt ending. When you’ve both listened/reacted to all the songs individually, I’d highly recommend listening to the Album from start to finish. It’s a life altering experience.
Seconded. Or give up and start from the beginning of the album 😁
@@DazzleMonroe Agreed, as mentioned by both above,This Album is life changing...Peace.
And then Dark side of Oz
Yes, the songs were not intended to be interrupted. It worked fine on the vinyl but when the CDs came out, they had to chop it all up. Best is to listen to it on the analog vinyl record and not so much on the digital CD.
@@kevinerose welcome to the 21stC. I would imagine neither CD nor vinyl will be played. Today's streaming software doesn't leave gaps between tracks.
The genius of pink Floyd is they only tell you half the story, the other half is from the listeners experience of life making it that much more emotional
I so enjoy watching your reactions. Sincere, honest, thoughtful and understanding the brilliance and unworldly experience as you hear it. Bravo for the both of you. You are so lovely to watch and it makes me appreciate my first hearing all over again! Well done!
I am 64 years old and I have listened to Pink Floyd music since I was a teenager and everything they put out is good. Even the songs that never made it to the radio. They're good songs. They're they are well written. Well saying it's just awesome music and it's really hard to say which is your favorite because it's all good
The speaking voice at 11:57 is Pink Floyd's roadie, Roger Manifold. When they were recording the album, Waters got staff and random people to answer questions printed on flashcards such as, ‘What’s your favourite colour?’ and ‘What’s your favourite food?’, before moving on to themes of the album. (such as madness, violence, and death). The band’s road manager Peter Watts (father of actress Naomi Watts) contributed the repeated laughter during ‘Brain Damage’ and ‘Speak to Me’, and, "I never said I was frightened of dying," from the beginning of ‘The Great Gig In The Sky.' I believe the question Roger Manifold was answering at 11:57 was, "When were you last violent." His answer was, "I mean they're trying to kill you, so if you give them a short, sharp, shock, they don't do it again dig it? I mean he got off light, because I could have given him a thrashing. I only hit him once. I mean good manners don't cost nothing do they?" in which he's describing a near car accident he was involved in and got into a confrontation with the other driver.
Nice Info thanks! 👍
The Sax just pulls emotion from your body.
Sex can do it too😂😂😂
Jokes aside, best album by faaar 🙏
For me, there is no best Pink Floyd song. For me, the individual songs exist only to have an index to the music, but I see their music as a total work of art.
There's a line in a Marilyn Manson song called "Fight Song" that goes:
"The death of one is a tragedy. The death of millions is just a statistic."
Interestingly, that quote belongs to Joseph Stalin. When a tragedy claims many lives, we often care less than if a tragedy claims only a few lives. Why do far away wars affect us collectibly less than a deadly car accident in your own town. Roger wrote a powerful song called The Bravery of Being Out of Range...
In 1973 Pink Floyd introduced themselves to the entire world beyond their fan base with this beautiful work of art.
I've been watching you guys react all morning. I was taking chemicals when I went to my first Pink Floyed concert, with maybe four hundred people who had heard some of their music...about the time of the concert you looked at when they were playing "Echos" They have grown much since then...and so have you two. I also hung out with a gall who had escaped from Poland when it was still held in bondage by the Communists. She was a bit nervous about having to learn a new way of life in the middle of an old perception of it. She was able to relax as she figured out
how to move forward from 1917. Now since I spent the day reacting to you two I have to say the more you got into Pink Pink Floyd the more relaxed and comfortable you looked, and your smiles were more real and you faces became younger looking. Pink Floyed has a way of imparting knowledge to the listener which in turn makes the listener feel more alive and relaxed. Good luck and I'll keep watching. Your doing great.
Enjoy your new life.
My absolute favorite number one song all time from Pink Floyd is whichever one I am listening to at the time.
Also Pink Floyd happens to be my next door neighbor's favorite all-time group whether he likes it or not!!
You two, are my favourite reactors - thank you.
My favourite Pink Floyd song is the one I’m listening to at the time.
Love you guys ❤
Another stunning Floyd number. Really, the whole album should be taken as a whole.
Sax is one of my favourite instruments - one of the reasons I love Steely Dan too.
The language of music. We understand and feel it more fully than we do the spoken word. While nearly all of us can receive- hear and understand- this language, very few are able to create and transmit it effectively. These special few that are fluent in this language are the musicians that leave us shaking our heads in awe with tears welling in our eyes...
Pink Floyd is a thinking mans or(womams) rock band. That feeling you get is called being " lost in the sauce". They are masters of conveying emotion through the music and subliminal sounds and vocals pulled back into the background. They worked for years just creating sound effects with their instruments to create a mood. Its genius and nobody has ever macthed it since. Dont let the sauce overwhelm you just relax and "Breath"😊
Great reaction once again! So beautiful, one of Rick's most beautiful compositions (with lyrics by Roger, of course). Rick and his keyboards were the soul of Pink Floyd. When you listen to PF enough, it just becomes part of you. Do I have a favorite? Sure, but which one I say might depend on how I'm feeling, and what I heard last. Probably Echoes for me, but on any given day it could be Shine On, or One of These Days, or WYWH, or Sorrow, or High Hopes, or anything from Dark Side, or anything from Animals, or , or , or ...
Spot on, I asked a friend of mine what his favourite Pink Floyd song was, and he replied, "The one that I'm listening to at the time', and I thought, you know he is right.
I was greatly saddened by the loss of Richard. You are right. He was the soul of the band.
I read Richard rote these lyrics Roger allowed it
@jeffreywolff329 I thought that too for a number of years, until I read this - The song is about how division between people can lead to suspicion, anger and violence. It was written by Richard Wright with lyrics by Roger Waters, sung by David Gilmour, with harmonies by Wright. The song is 7 minutes and 49 seconds long. Us and Them" is taken from the album The Dark Side of the Moon.
It was decided after very careful consideration that the best Pink Floyd song is the one you’re listening to.
I was 12 or 13 hearing this for the first time. My friends and I listened to this album almost every day. Imagine being just a kid and exposed to this amazing music and the incredible lyrics.
Leave it to Pink Floyd to know exactly when to enter in with the subtleness of a saxophone to create a specific feeling or mood ! The reason why Pink Floyd has lasting power is because in the 1970s all the way to today they remained consistently excellent. People who ignored them (or even worse), rejected them, back in the early days, were not mature enough in their musical taste than they ended up being later in life. But, Pink Floyd was there, all the while . . . just waiting for them to catch up to their excellence !
"It ended like it didn't end".... 🎉 What a great metaphor for war... 😢 Domenica, I think you just coined a Pink Floyd phrase that doesn't exist! Your hearts are growing every day I watch you two ❤❤
Great job, guys. I like my reactor people to be smart and concientious, and you definitely fit the bill.
If you haven't looked it up yet, this is what Wikipedia says about The Spoken part before the second sax solo: one of the band's roadies (Roger "The Hat" Manifold) says: "Well I mean, they're not gonna kill ya, so like, if you give 'em a quick sh ... short, sharp shock, they don't do it again. Dig it? I mean 'e got off light, 'cause I coulda given 'im a thrashin' but I only hit 'im once. It's only the difference between right and wrong innit? I mean good manners don't cost nothin' do they, eh?"
Take care.
As long as one is open to it,, Pink Floyd has always had the unique ability to carry your mind off into the universe.
Whatever song I am listening to is my favorite song.
Where Words Fail, Music Speakes. Those words are on my wall because it's so true. Peace!
we talk to much. love it. all you got to do is keep talking.
You guys are awesome
With Pink Floyd you don't have a favorite song but a favorite album instead. All the songs on an album are connected. At the ends of the songs you hear the beginning introduction of the next song. You beautiful people are my favorites on RUclips! I am 72 years old so I grew up hearing all the great bands and you two always impress me with your insight and honest reactions. Your biggest fan in America, PJ ☺✌💛
Most songs Pink Floyd did are masterpieces by themselves. But to really understand, you have to listen to the entire album from begin to end. This, 'Us and Them', is from 'dark side of the moon', and that album in its totality is just nuts. Same with 'the final cut', 'the wall', animals, 'wish you where here'. Also note the concept albums Roger Waters made on his own: 'Radio K.A.O.S.' and 'The Pro's and cons of hitchhiking', as well as 'amused to death'. All those albums need to be listened to as a whole.
You both are beautiful souls
It is the only group in the world that you put it on and immediately transports you
Great reaction, guys. "Forward he cried, from the rear, and the front rank died." That line says so much about the 'System." Those in control stand at the rear, directing their hypnotized pawns to step into the fray and sacrifice their lives, and livelihoods, so that the privileged might gain power without endangerment. So much meaning, so few words.
Dark Side of the Moon is one song, and that song is my favorite all-time song.
My favourite Pink Floyd song is whichever I am listening to at the time.
Correct!
I have many favorites, but my absolute favorite is Comfortably Numb!
I love how PF hits Andrei. He gets it.
The " Live Versons " by pink floyd are yes brilliant....but you really should listen to the studio versions aswell , because they are so crisp and clean
There is background talking on several songs off the album. They brought a tape recorder into a few pubs and just recorded people talking to playback on the album. The girl saying "he was cruise'n for a bruise'n" is probably one of the most famous lol
Great reaction. I must have been in my twenties when I first heard this. I am almost 70 now and I still don't know what all the words are in that section. One thing I can tell you though, is buy the whole Album, every now and again sit down quietly and play it all through, both sides. It will transport you back, not only to the first time you heard it, but it will also transport you to places new, and will bring memories back to your mind from the rest of your past life too. It is TRULY a magical Album and TRULY timeless
Pink Floyd is really a band that makes you think and it makes you feel emotion that you didn't know you had. They were an incredible band. I can tell you a whole bunch of songs to listen, but there are just so many. I would suggest you listen to all of Darkside Of The Moon, as a serious introduction to Pink Floyd. Beautiful 💜
Love your reactions you really think about the song and lyrics.
P. S. LOVED that you were going to "go back" and Andrei was "lost in the sauce".... ❤❤❤❤❤
With Pink Floyd, timing is what makes them the best! The construct songs.
I love this song.
Floyd is always a spiritual journey
listening to pink floyd can be like drowning in beautifulness. It's overwhelming really ... for a shift in atmosphere take a listen to San Tropez from the Meddle album
They were uniquely talented and in touch with human emotions, all four of them, in different ways. Even Nick's drumming sometimes, as simple as it is, is just so perfect and hits me. Even with their talent and chemistry, part of what made so many of these songs so masterful was that they didn't just go into the studio and try to work out a song that one of them had a general idea about, like many musicians do. Many of these songs were perfected over several years, started as live versions in different forms. In other words, they took the time to create their masterpieces.
I really appreciate being able to experience this again with you two. You are thoughtful in different ways to me now (I'm 58 and I bought DSOTM in 1983, so I was 18) and are honest in your opinions. I find myself rethinking and wondering exactly what I did think the first time I listened to this. The bottom line with this music and this band is that it truly is therapy for people. You can relisten indefinitely and keep the faith. It's that good.
theres a reason why this album stayed on the music charts for ten years plus....
Hey U2! I hope U KNOW how much I´m in love with your Rammstein-reactions - I still do, but i love you even more, because we meet here again, with Pink Floyd, lost in the beauty and eternity of their music, and diggin their lyrics, showing us sometimes the absurdity and sometimes the overwhelming sides of menkind-style of life, be good and take care! 😍
It's been said before and I agree, the best Pink Floyd song is the one you just listened to.
Pink Floyd is one of those bands that makes you a part of the music. They are my all-time favorite band for the exact reasons that we can see on both of your faces. Pink Floyd is much more than music, it’s an experience. Great reaction to one of the greatest bands of all time.👏👏👏👏
I like Andrei's reaction every time on PF: "I don't... I cannot.... I don't.... I cannot...I don't.... I cannot...."!
Looking forward to both your reactions on Shine on you Crazy Diamond (studio version first!).
Come back to your stuff regularly, as often pick up stuff, I feel the same about, or missed.
The verses are sung clearly by David, including the harmonization and doubletracking. But the chorus brings the beautiful mix of David, Roger and Rick's voices, with the backing of Liza Strike, Leslie Duncan and Doris Troy, brilliantly mixed by Alan Parsons
Timeless music, timeless lyrics because the human condition seems to never change. Pink Floyd wants it to change. They want US to change. They want THEM to change. Hope or hopeless?
How can ugliness be so beautiful. They have depth and soul.
Pink Floyd's music is basically the grace of the Muse filtered through the well attuned souls of those talented few.
Actually Pink Floyd needs to be done by the album. This is one of my fav tunes by them! Keep up the great work😃
Melanie - Brand New Key. Lovely song.
Again another great reaction to Pink Floyd. The music is so powerful, its spiritual. The sax is the most beautiful sound in so many of their songs. Speaking of spiritual, I would love you to react to Spirit In The Sky by Norman Greenbaum. God Bless!🐢
My two top songs are shine on you crazy diamond and time
Then probably welcome to the machine and learning to fly
But I have never heard one I didn’t like ..
I also love run ..
It’s powerful ❤
A really emotional song from David Gilmour is "Lost for words" Lyrics by David Gilmour, Polly Samson
Which one is my favorite ? Hum... let's see... "Shine on you crazy diamond", oh no wait, "Dogs", or maybe "Sheep", unless it is "Any colour you like", I meant "One of these days", oh and "High hopes" is up there too. And "Echoes" of course..... Anyway, I think you get the point... after hearing each one about 1000 times (and other ones too), I still love them all and cry on them most of the time. Sad ? No, overwhelmed by the beauty and emotions.
I can't pick just one favorite Pink Floyd song and I've been listening for close 50 years but this is one of my favorites. They capture the meaning of endless wars and propaganda perfectly in their lyrics and music. Pure transcendence.
My favorite album is always the one I'm currently listening to. :D
I love listening to your discussions and seeing you get the relevance of the music and lyric's which are quite often ambiguous so what you feel about it is personal that is the magic of Pink Floyd and why it resonates today to you as it did to me when I first bought the album in 1973.
Some information the Dark side of the moon is the fourth biggest selling rock album of all time some 50 million copies now it is also the only album to stay in the billboard top 200 albums chart for 736 nonconsecutive weeks (from 17 March 1973 to 16 July 1988).
Listening to individual tracks each song is a masterpiece but to get the full impact you need to listen to the whole album from start to finish like a book telling a story with different chapters.
The music broke out into chaos!
Another beautiful reaction both.
1 of my top 10 tracks of Floyd and definitely better in studio than live in my opinion , there’s is still a few of my favourites you haven’t got to yet 👍
My favourite Pink Floyd song is Dark side of the moon the album 😊
The music is so soothing, as your brain and body relax, they are able to insert these beautiful and meaningful words directly into your brain and emotions and you block them
Stunning and your reactions are always wonderful, the reason I watch your channel, please don’t apologise for telling us how it affects you
Blessings on your home
I meant to say : you can’t block them
Studio versions should always be listened to first, but i could not even pick my favourite PF album, let alone song lol
You two are so fun to watch! :-)
Pink Floy really likes to give you time to think about the lyrics.
Please react to David Gilmour and Rick Wright's performance of the song Echoes, live in Gdansk. The last time the two played this song live before Richard's death. The performance is magnificent.
The reason that many "tracks" end suddenly, is that there are NO breaks in this album..you MUST listen to the whole album.
Hi Andrei and Dominika. You guys are great. I'll never ever forget listening to Dark Side of the Moon for the first time as a 16 year old way back in 1977. I don't know whether I was mature beyond my years, whether it was the fact that I had smoked some weed for only the 2nd time in my life or whether it is the sheer magic of Pink Floyd that they can make anyone, at any age and in any time period, totally immerse themselves into their world. Love you guys. ❤
“For want of the price, of tea and a slice, the old man died.” Is a reference to Roger Waters’ father who died during WW2. Roger never knew his father. A lot of the songs are about Rogers feelings about war.
A recommendation - in all modesty - don't try to pick favourite songs of Pink Floyd - pick favourite ALBUMS! And then listen to them - together- in the dark, all the way through. Especially Dark Side of the Moon is MEANT to be heard that way. You will see how each "track" eases imperceptibly into the next. Especially important with Time & The Great Gig in the Sky. Your reactions are pure joy! ALLEZ!
This is what the whisper says:
"I mean, they're not gunna kill ya, so if you give 'em a quick short,
Sharp, shock, they won't do it again. Dig it? I mean he get off
Lightly, 'cos I would've given him a thrashing - I only hit him once!
It was only a difference of opinion".
You MUST check out Pink Floyd's "The Wall"😎
Happy belated 4/20+
Completely agree with the person who sent the request - I also prefer how clean the studio version of this one is. (for everything else to go to the Pulse concert.lol) Automatic thumbs up for the song and my fav reactors. 👍
Short, sharp, shopper got it!!
I love that,😂I don’t know how I feel I just feel,gotta be lyrics in there😂
Hi guys again, love to see your faces and comments when you listen Pink Floyd like you say my God, their music is just the best blessing to us isn't it. Guys do yourselfs a favour and check out Russell Morris film clip of The Real Thing and Part 3 Into Paperwalls, it's from '69 black and white but it will rock your socks off. The Real Thing is part 1 and 2, Paperwalls is part 3 as the tittle says. You guys are the best Peter
I love your reactions, i like all there songs, can I request here? Ever heard from Enya? And the song “Humming"
Beautiful
In the pocket is jazz. Also it can be traditionally emotional. 😂
Probably my favorite PF song. The lyrics, so simple yet so powerful. Talking about the evils of war, and the greed (the haves and have nots) and suffering in society. Still so pertinent today.
Over and over again, Pink Floyd moves peoples emotions and speaks to the heart. Brilliant musicians!
A lady never tells her age, but yeah, this is a gem somehow implanted on a pearl. Other commenters are correct. Its the whole pearl that needs to be examined, start to finish.
I just can't wait to see my guy sling the rock for the New York Jets this season!
72 yes old now,was 21 when I bought this in cassette form when it was first released.love it just as much today but the track Time is much more relevant.
Got a feeling that the saxophonist is Candy Dulfer the great Dutch musician.
Timeless.
Hello from Vichy France ! you like David Gilmour so you should listen the Red sky at night live you will enjoy to see David playing saxophone 🤩🤩🤩
Throughout the early years of Pink Floyd, at least after Sid Barrett, the main lyricist was Roger Waters and the music was put together by David Gilmour and Richard Wright. When Roger left the group, there were various lyricists. David Gilmour always stated he hated coming up with the lyrics. His present wife is a writer and poet so wrote a lot of the lyrics starting in 1994.
I first heard this when I was 12 when it first hit the record store, I had an older brother who had a massive stereo system, and He, and I, and so many others, all over the world, collectively
sat in amazement, and listened to the Utter Brilliance, and Overwhelming Profundity of this Masterpiece of an Album. It became the topic of many discussions, and defined my generation.
I think the word that you want to use in place of "simple" is "primal".
Their music finds the sockets, of your soul, to plug directly into.
It connects on the same level as ozone in a thunderstorm, or food that triggers a fond memory.
It just invades you, on a primal level.
