I asked God to lead me to a true Mt 16:18 church as a young teenager. In my 40s it happened. I listened to Through the Eyes of Spurgeon; Official Documentary before this one. God is not moving like that anymore. But He is still moving. I drive 3 hours to my church.
I am so glad to see so many people of different countries, atnicities, cultures agree that G. Whitfield and Doc MLJ are great preachers of the Gospel of our Lord.... So it means that we all agree with they doctrine and if so we must then be brothers and sisters of the faith... God bless you all till we meet one day in glory...
Of both Whitefield and Lloyd-Jones, great preachers in their respective times, it can be said, "For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling, and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God." --The Apostle Paul in his letter to the Corinthians.
Billy Ray Thanks! I have spent a good deal of time with Lloyd-Jones in Romans and John's gospel. Eventually, I'll get to Ephesians if the Lord does not come before. And as much as I enjoy the Doctor's teaching, I'd rather be with Jesus by far!
This is wonderful. As Dr. MLJ says, George Whitfield became a true believer after reading *Henry Scougal's slim volume: "*The Life of God in the Soul of Man." (*which was a long letter to help a friend of his. ) Henry S. was born in 1650 and was an amazing young preacher and scholar who died at the age of 27 from tuberculosis. It is recorded in an autobiography by former slave trader, John Newton, ("Out of the Depths" 1764) that *John Newton read Scougal's work too whilst searching for God. God has raised up amazing men in the past. But even more wonderful, is the fact that God still teaches us believers if we seek Him "in Spirit and in truth", according to His word. (I got H. S.'s 'Life of God in the Soul of Man' off the Internet, and God blessed me through it! ) What a wonderful preacher George Whitfield was - AND Dr. MLJ too! But thank the LORD, most of all that "Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever"!!!
This video is a very valuable contribution to our understanding of George Whitefield but also teaches us something of what was important to the Doctor. This is a gem and should always be publicly available.
I'm looking forward to reading more of Whitefield. This was an excellent document by Dr. MLJ's. We need to take the Gospel to the people. Let us learn that we need to share the Gospel in the open air.
i was baptized in Jesus name, and about nine months later God filled me with the baptism of the Holy Ghost, it caused me to speak in tongues. thats how i know its real. just like acts 2:38 says to do to be born again of the water and the Spirit
The experience being raised up by his mother in an Inn where all sorts and classes of people frequented played a great part in his feeling a burden for the plight of the common man. Equally amazing is the ecumenical spirit he and John Wesley had through their lives. Though different in their soteriology, they both had a love of the other through out their lives. May God raise up another Whitefield for Wales and the World!
"One should always preach a felt Christ". I hear quit often, in some of my fellow Christians that we are "not to go by our feelings". This is true in its place but I wonder why, these days, so few seem to feel the presence of God through the Holy Spirit. I imagine the Christians in Africa and China feel the presence of God regularly. I hope and pray that a felt Christ will be the experience of many today.
For so long I have wanted to see the place in the open air where Whitefield preached in power. God has finally answered my desire and I must believe will now fill my calling and send me to his pulpit in his ordained place.
The Spirit of God must teach us the truth, and then guide us as to which truth is to be spoken. Then the Holy Spirit must inflame the minister. The man who never takes fire, how is he sent of God? He who never glows and burns, what knows he of the baptism of the Holy Ghost, which is also the baptism of fire? Pray, therefore, for the supply of the Spirit. Without the Spirit every ministry lacks that subtle, I was about to say indescribable, something which is known by the name of unction.Spurgeon
My father was a friend of MLJ. This video brings back many memories from my childhood. Thanks for posting.
He has some great books on the book of Roman's
What was he like as a person?

This was beautiful. That's all I can say. These men surely were a gift from God.
WHERE ARE THE WHITEFIELDS OF TODAY?
MAY GOD RAISE UP MORE PREACHERS LIKE HIM IN TODAY'S "CHRISTIANITY"

Can you not go?
He has raised you ! Go out and preach the gospel to everyone
DR MARTIN LLOYD-JONES IS MY INSPIRATION. HIS BOOK 'PREACHING AND PREACHERS' REALLY INSPIRED MY HEART AND MY PREACHING LIFE!
I love MLJ! His calm spirit puts my mind at ease 🙏

💯
I think just as you do . Blessings .
Indeed the moving hand of God's Holy spirit used common men for such mighty work. How we need his Spirit!
This is so good. The greatest preacher of the 20th century talking about the greatest "open air" preacher of the 18th century. Amazing!!!
Guy Lacelle Have you read Steve Lawson biography on him?

Well said Ray. You sound like you may have read Lloyd-Jones commentaries, i.e. on Ephesians. If not, here's your recommendation. God bless.

Acts2:38 pattern of being born again most have not even gotten this far for salvation.
Thanks for posting this. The zeal of brother Whitefield is a great challenge to all who preach the unsearchable riches of Christ.
Thank you for sharing this video.

It's a major problem in the UK. The "churches" either have no doctrine, or they have sound doctrine but no power.
A wonderful video with the Doctor. Thank you for posting.
Amen. Can listen to this many times. God bless you all
This is a treasure. Thanks
Thank you for posting this! Very encouraging and inspiring!

George read his Matthew Henry Commentary on his knees 20 hours per day for about a year before he preached his first sermon! !
That’s an inviting place and great documentary
Love this !

MLJ could have presented about Jonathan Edwards, too. ❤
These two were real preachers.
