I am a truck driver, i have driving trucks for 5 years, i have driven for CFI, and USA Truck. Based off of my experience driving in most of if not all weather conditions, you dont use your jake in snow or ice or in the rain. It can cause you lose sudden traction and lose control of your rig and jack knife.. Just for future reference. My main comment is about the detail of these trucks and how realistic they look. Very impressive. Edit: For more realism, when doing a ‘tug test’ make sure you lower your landing gear down, in case your not fully connected to your trailer and that it doesn’t slam to the ground and all that fun stuff.
I was thinking the same thing....No Jake in slippery conditions...Jeff does a great job, unless you have actually driven a truck in the snow, ya wouldn’t know about the Jake....
Plus it's a game that doesn't fully go by actual physics which doesn't help but since it is a game I say whatever it takes. In real life stay safe and don't go by game physics. My dad drives which is where I learned most of my skills. Drivers ed helped shape those skills and time obviously can't fully perfect as we are human but as perfect as you can get. Stay safe out there guys and thank you for everything you do for us
Fun trivia: Ontario is in a different time zone from the rest of Oregon. Malheur County is in the Mountain Time Zone, the rest of Oregon is in Pacific.
Estes! My dad works for Estes. He drives for Home Depot. running a 53 foot flatbed with a moffet on the back doing local deliveries like wood, grills, cabinets, etc. (they’re subcontracted with Estes) but he works for Estes.
Yeah i think it would be awesome to see a red dead series, i played the game once and i know almost nothing about the original so it would be good as new to me
Im amazed at how amazed Jeff is about the day cab maneuverability while the European cabovers do all that with ease haha. Difference is huge between semi's and cabovers.

Re: using the jake in snow. I live where it doesn't snow, but we're told to not use auxiliary braking systems in slippery conditions, because you can lock up the drive axle, whereas service brakes have ABS/antilock and you have graduated control over them.
Something I learned. If the detour puts you too far out of the way, then break immersion and just drive around the detour accident. Its a tight fit, but you can drive through/around it and keep going.
Yes please to a RDR1 series. I hope Rockstar produce an enhanced version of it for the PS4 as we sold our PS3 after getting the PS4, as we never used it!
They say not to use Jake's in bad weather but I've been driving 15yrs using them whenever and never had a problem. thank God Never had an accident in a truck ever
So the bend part is spot on. I actually live 30 miles south of bend in La Pine. That's freaking awesome Jeff. Would love to see more videos of Oregon, especially runs thru bend area.
Estes nice. Looks dead on. OMG the inside is exact I use to work for FedEx Freight and the only thing I see that is wrong is flat spot on top the dash it was big enough for a CB. Even has the highbeam and trailer light flash buttons on the left part of the wheel. Yeah all the Volvo daycabs I drove were all regular 10 speeds never went over 10. Never use a Jake in snow or rain.
Rep trucker here. You can use the jake in snow and ice. Obviously though when you do you don’t wanna be empty or in curves as that torque change to the wheels will cause you to lose traction and off you go. I was a jumper driver for 5 years of my like I would just drive trucks in the winter thru the passes up north when the new driver were to scared. It is no fun and but no doubt fun.
I use a real world company mod in ATS and ETS2. I get Walmart trailers all the time. FedEx, Dell, Tesla... they're all in there. I can look and see which one it is, if you want. I believe it's in the Steam workshop.
There's something almost hypnotic about watching the wipers wipe the snow away. lol I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed with that detour. It's a bit ridiculous having to drive 6 hours out of the way. I hope SCS fine tunes the detour system so they only show up where there are plenty of other optional routes, or they add new ones. While not realistic, for gameplay purposes, I might have to invent new routes [cough] driving against traffic [cough]. lol That definitely needs some fine tuning.
Just for shits and giggles, if you can you should follow a random npc car or semi to see what there destination is. It might make for an interesting time!
New viewer here, wanting to say thanks for the quality videos! In addition to showing us the game you also take the time to discuss & go into some of the great mods available out there. It is much appreciated, and I find your videos and manner quite relaxing.
Loved this episode! If there is a mod for an old school Kenworth W-925 would you consider doing a video with that truck? I think it would be awesome to have it decked out with the same paint scheme as Sonny Pruitt’s truck from “Movin’ On” or the Snowman’s from Smokey and The Bandit.
Yes! Please play Red Dead Redemption! Putting the complete chronology of Red Dead Redemption together in a single playlist would be awesome. And Undead Nightmare would be awesome, too, if you're so inclined. It's somewhat challenging to fit Undead Nightmare into the chronology since it's not canonical, but it appears to be set sometime between "The Outlaw's Return" and "The Last Enemy That Shall Be Destroyed", except that "On a Pale Horse" is obviously set sometime after "The Last Enemy That Shall Be Destroyed".
Great video. If you have the time and patience, you should do the ultimate challange if it doesnt break the game. The new special transport dlc in the snow with the new winter physics.
we have a company here in Baltimore city , Maryland called Estes . its pronuced and spelled Estes . my dad worked for them when i was a kid , im 29 now will be 30 on 6/4
You are not supposed to use your Jake brake in the snow, just because it can lock up your drive axle, but when I do, I use mid to low range depending on load weight and conditions of the road.
You can use it as long as you don't use the service brake to activate the jake. My jake is set to automatically turn on when I push the button. I don't touch my brakes and down shift and never had a problem.
Looks cool. I know the mod is limited but a few things that are going on won't work IRL. first if you had your wipers on that long in a snow storm the snow would accumulate and eventually ice would form and make the wipers useless. You would have to stop and beat the wipers against the windshield to get rid of the ice. I have heard there are heated wipers but in 19 years OTR I have never seen them. Another thing is you don't use Jake brakes in snow or heavy rain. The Jake brake only works on the tractor and it creates a push push situation at the kingpin that, in low traction situations, can cause the drives to slip sideways and result in a jackknife. Also in snow weight is your friend. Driving a 15k lbs load will have you skimming the surface and you'll be slipping all over the place. Stopping is damn near impossible in a thick snowfall with a light load. If you have 35k or more on the weight you'll get much better traction and the brakes will work better with less slipping. And finally if you're going to drive a day cab you need to haul ass into the shippers and receivers and just back into any spot you see without checking first. It's even better if you cut off a real truck driver and steal their door while they're setting up to back in.
it's actually the opposite, when taking off in snow, you want to be in a higher gear so there's less torque going to the wheels to make them spin. And NEVER EVER EVER use the Jake brake in the snow. Best way to jack knife a truck!
Hey Jeff have you seen Squirrels video about the Physic Improvements in ETS but I guess also works in ATS. Looks interesting. You should check it out if not.
I think seeing the continuation of red dead would be sweet. Especially for those who haven't played the first one. And I enjoyed watching that series as well
I agree with what Jeff said about christmas shopping. People just make it so stressful that’s why I just give my family money and let them do whatever they want
That Vale detour is brutal. I don't know why, but it seems like I have that random chance happen pretty often when I have to go through there. I've just gotten in the habit of going off of the road there to bypass it. Most detours aren't too bad as they usually have an easier way to get around, but that one is absurd as there's no good way around so you can either do a bit of off-roading or you can take the extra long route.
Had a delivery from like Reno to San Francisco while the highway was closed off. Had a whole lot of time, do i decided to wait it out. It was still going on after I rested. Ended up going south to take the mountain pass towards Oakdale. Just so it could say "No Commercial Vehicles Allowed." They need an update to call the destination.
I hope this winter mod will be adapted into the full game. I belive developers should work more with modders who make the most popular and epic mods and then make it just defaultto the game.

If that “thinking of titties” line doesn’t make it into best of December 2018 I’ll be disappointed😂
“You can just turn and the trailer will follow you. It’s wonderful” -Jeff Favignano 2K18
Hi
When He said?
Fun trivia: Ontario is in a different time zone from the rest of Oregon. Malheur County is in the Mountain Time Zone, the rest of Oregon is in Pacific.
@1:14:10 When you accidentally say what’s really on your minds 😂
This is not realistic you have no radio on lmao
Estes! My dad works for Estes. He drives for Home Depot. running a 53 foot flatbed with a moffet on the back doing local deliveries like wood, grills, cabinets, etc. (they’re subcontracted with Estes) but he works for Estes.
Yeah i think it would be awesome to see a red dead series, i played the game once and i know almost nothing about the original so it would be good as new to me
This video was one of the most satisfying ATS video ever. Great drive.
That winter weather sure makes it tougher. Let's hope SCS eventually add seasons and variable road grip into the simulation to add to the realism.
I really dig the industrial looking low optioned "work trucks". They don't often get the recognition that the big purty long haul rigs do.
Im amazed at how amazed Jeff is about the day cab maneuverability while the European cabovers do all that with ease haha. Difference is huge between semi's and cabovers.
Nice truck, Jeff. My only complaint is you drive a little fast during the winter.
"no detour we'll be good to go"
nice foreshadowing jeff

These videos are so peaceful to watch, I love watching them on my free time.
We may have a 2015 Freightliner Cascadia coming to the Steamworkshop soon.
You should try out the Freightliner Argosy if you haven't already
I'm thinking of "tiddy's" err tidbits - Jeff's epitaph. I legit had to go back and listen for that again. LOL!
Keep up the great work Jeff. Love seeing more ATS Content on your channel to watch and enjoy. Loving that snow mod in game too!
ATS needs to use whatever program that Spin Tires uses for mud build up for the snow build up, that would be pretty sweet
Something I learned. If the detour puts you too far out of the way, then break immersion and just drive around the detour accident. Its a tight fit, but you can drive through/around it and keep going.

Why do I keep watching these videos on my breaks... i literally do this for a living
Too funny me too 😂😂😂😂😂😂 99.9 real
Guess that means you truly love what your doing

Take a shot every time Jeff says "daycab"

Detours can be a good thing, it gives you a chance to explore mother nature.
Hey Jeff just wanted you to know that your videos are the best this is why your my favorite RUclipsr and the Graphics are the best
Just for shits and giggles, if you can you should follow a random npc car or semi to see what there destination is. It might make for an interesting time!
I tried that once and it went around the same route over and over lol

Love the Estes livery! I wonder if there’s a R•L Carriers livery, I see a ton of those. Fantastic new truck and video!
I just purchased American truck simulator i enjoy it so far
Its a good game. Download the real companies mod and some more transmission mods and it will keep you entertained for hours and hours
well i didnt see you do a DOT inspection before run... rip.
Please bring back another cab over
Super cool. I'm a dockworker for estes . Maybe someday a driver
Its waaaay more easy to stop with 38000 pounds in a trailer in snow than when its empty
Jeff you should try the Google GPS mod for ats it's looks realistic and it works for 1.33 open beta
I literally just got off work, from estes!! 😂
Almost an Ice Road Trucker Eh! with this winter mod just love it. almost like Canada or the Northern US States
Yea ! RDR revisited would be awesome.
It will be a trip down memory lane.
Omg Jeff!!! My Mom literally works for Estes.
No one saying good video yet...
Because there hasn't been time to actually watch it. :D
Common up here to northern Minnesota in the winter....we will gladly show you driving in the snow! Lol. Great video though as always!
you can use your jake in the snow but it is best to use a lower stage to start of because you can still slide using your jakes
Jeff i love your videos, ive been watching you since late 2015, your the reason I want to be an officer when I get older you really inspire me
Looks cool. I know the mod is limited but a few things that are going on won't work IRL. first if you had your wipers on that long in a snow storm the snow would accumulate and eventually ice would form and make the wipers useless. it's actually the opposite, when taking off in snow, you want to be in a higher gear so there's less torque going to the wheels to make them spin. And NEVER EVER EVER use the Jake brake in the snow. Best way to jack knife a truck!
Is it ok to use it in the game since it doesn't cause that problem?
Hey Jeff have you seen Squirrels video about the Physic Improvements in ETS but I guess also works in ATS. Looks interesting. You should check it out if not.
I’m confused as to why the Sun is setting so quickly. I’m curious how this game keeps real time. Thank you. :) ❤️🙏❤️
Kaejb
I’d like to see a video or mod video or a big rig wrecker where you have to go out on the highway, pick up a broke truck, and tow it back to a shop.
I wish the traction control light flashes if your tires start to break loose like in real life
The r model mack it on the workshop and also the Freightliner Coronado been updated for 1.33
I think seeing the continuation of red dead would be sweet. Especially for those who haven't played the first one. And I enjoyed watching that series as well
30:04 Kenworth K100. That's a fun cabover.
I agree with what Jeff said about christmas shopping. People just make it so stressful that’s why I just give my family money and let them do whatever they want
i try to get people gifts that they ask for but if they dont tell me then ill give them gifts cards or something like that
Yes you should play the the first red dead
so close to 900k subs wow congrarz man your the best :)
That Vale detour is brutal. I don't know why, but it seems like I have that random chance happen pretty often when I have to go through there. Nice to see an Estes truck on a game. I work for them and drive them. To see you doing it on a game is just legendary!!!! Nice vid bro!!
amazing reality, it just looks like you had a gopro on. haha nice vid jeff!
Had a delivery from like Reno to San Francisco while the highway was closed off. Had a whole lot of time, do i decided to wait it out.
It was still going on after I rested. Ended up going south to take the mountain pass towards Oakdale. Just so it could say "No Commercial Vehicles Allowed."
They need an update to call the destination.
The tornado mod videos are you doing right now baby I love you so much and I'm sorry I didn't mean to God
Hell yeah for a RDR1 playthrough
I hope this winter mod will be adapted into the full game. I belive developers should work more with modders who make the most popular and epic mods and then make it just defaultto the game.
Loved the rdr2 series rdr1 sounds like it'll be great on the channel
46:13 The Detour
"This is a detour folks!"
You should drive XPO logistics with a reefer trailer or R+L Career with combination trailers
I hope you are doing the Red Dead Redemption 1 thing... can't wait to see it!!!
Funny to see how that winter physics mod is destroying the AI :))
A little bit of snow and people don't know how to drive anymore.
(PS. I hate driving in the snow/sleet myself.)
Jeff I would like to see the first red dead redemption! Thanks for asking!
It looks more like icy rain than snow fall...Sure snowy roads are slippery but not that much! Also, main roads are usually salted too
Oh damn, that engine sounds amazing! Great vid Jeff, keep up the great work!
Could Idaho be the next state
My cousin was driving before Cell Phones were a thing. He said he loved it when they got the Satellite terminal in the truck. He was half way across the country when he realized he wouldn't be able to deliver the cargo to Nevada because of the Fire Hydrants in the back of the truck going to California. He sent a message to the dispatcher who then called the customers and worked out a new delivery schedule. We should be able to call ahead and let the customer know when you run into a detour.
Was this due to having the 2 separate loads in one?
@@nicka2929 yes I guess they call it LTL.
It would be really great if they could incorporate some type of LTL terminal system. You can have city trucks go out to bring freight in and line to travel it across states.maybe even have a choice like that when you set up your business.
Try a Mack R700 and im all for a red dead redemption series. the one you did for rdr2 was outstanding
Sure if your going to drive in the winter turn on the heat? And try the MACK Super liner.
Strictly speaking, you are not supposed to use the engine brake in slippery weather conditions as it might cause the drive wheels to lose traction.
In practice, it only ever happened to me once in real life. However, it was in a situation so thoroughly terrifying (descending a hill in the BC Rockies) that I've never used the engine brake in such conditions since.
You do a pretty good job of driving. I run a heritage Canadian Motorways fleet in my personal game at home. I'd love to do it with a wheel, shifter and head tracking, but other expenses take precedent. Keep on trucking!
Cool video man right on man
jake can cause drive wheels to slip in snow ice wet roads per manual
39:00 - I always see framerate drop at those lights too!
I would like to see some more house flipper videos. Love your stuff!!!
other than the missing E, it is all real! Ik this because my father driver at Estes as a LTL driver.
Retired truck driver 3 yrs cool mod jeff u do driving well be cool to,see a chain up mod for snow lol well
Yes. The detour are random. Sometimes you just need to go off/on ramp and sometimes it's this massive ones.
When I get a detour I slam through the blockades...
Even though it cost more money at least I don’t lose xp
You should do a play thorough of the first red dead, would be great to revisit it again
Love that Mack Anthem, you were right!
Keep up the great work! Always enjoy your videos. Would love to see more RP on OCRP like you, Buggs, Dave and others used to do together! Also love to see more in RDR2!
