Brother, you are the mascot of all shy people around the world. I know that you show them your cellphone right after starting a conversation so that you don't have to speak too much and they are slightly distracted, which makes it easier to convey your message without much eye contact. But you coming up and trying to open up while making people smile is amazing.
We’ll if he gives them the phone and they see proof that he’s not just a creep it makes it easier to get a yes. I don’t think he does it just cause he’s shy it’s basically his best chance of making it happen. It must’ve been hard when he was starting out

If he was just wanting to take pictures of people without any evidence that it’s his profession, career, hobby, etc, then I’m sure most reasonable human beings would turn down his offer, and even if they don’t turn him down, he’ll still come off as creepy or at least unprofessional. Showing people evidence that it is your profession and your credibility is probably one of, if not the most important thing when in a career such as this.
@@ivwvy No offence, but that's BS. I mean, I respect that it might be how you, personally, would feel when asked. But it's certainly not a majority opinion. You can see so many people doing street portaits, on RUclips or wherever, who mostly just walk up to people and say, "Hi! I'm a photographer taking portrait pictures of interesting people I see on the streets, would you be okay with me taking your photograph?"
Of course it's beneficial and smart to have your phone ready to go to support your introduction. Absolutely. But you're talking as if the definite, undisputable truth was that it's totally required. Whereas I think that most street portrait interactions are already finished before you handed your phone over in yours.
Additionally, a tip from me would be to just be honest. Saying, "Hey, I'm a photographer trying to step out of my comfort zone and shyness by asking random people if I could take their picture", does work and makes people relax.
Putting yourself out there like that is very inspiring to an unsocial introvert such as myself. Genuine interactions, beautiful smiles!

I'm in the same boat, but to fair it's part of his job to take these photographs, so I guess it's a little bit easier ? I'm not taking anything from Danny though he's doing an awesome job ! But for an idiot like me that's extremely shy and has social anxiety, where do I even begin?
@@Chopper95 where do I even begin?” That’s so true and I feel this so much! I had three childhood friends, one on the same street and the others 15 and 20 minutes away which I kinda struggled to keep contact with since lived a bit away. I understood they had other friends with whom they spent more time with which made me feel awkward. Anyway we moved away when I turned 12 and after 6 years I still haven’t found any friends really. But, it’s never too late and I just gotta go somewhere I’d find likeminded or interesting people…
@@Chopper95 hey bud you’ll learn that talking to girls is kind of an art form and if you practice it you’ll get better just like anything else. Once your older (but now too) go to social events that cater to your skills or passions (which you need btw, get knowledgeable or good at some things). Talk to people especially girls and figure out what kind of comfortable formula you can implement to have an alright conversation. don’t think of the awkwardness and even if you do poorly sometimes, in the end you’ll get better. It’s hard to be bold with social anxiety, BUT THE ONLY WAY TO BEAT IT IS BE BOLD AND BE YOURSELF.
You’ll say stupid stuff some times, conversations will be shit some times. Regardless you need to continuously converse so that those things happens less frequently soon and you overcome your social anxiety. Beat the social anxiety out of yourself, force yourself to converse for the improvement of your conversation skills.
Please make more of such small videos. The context is much nicer & also the reactions & conversation after the photos taken are always very pleasant 👍

I kind of thought I'm weird because most of my friends love saving ugly pictures of others and use it as a meme or something (harmless fun). I suggest you start with an introduction of who you are, what you do, then ask. If they hesitate. Say “let me show you my work”. Then offer to take a “free photo” of them and ask to post the results. It becomes smoother and less awkward then just walking up asking to take a picture of someone. Other than that, good video!
