The artist Lorde wrote this amazing song. We thought we'd pay tribute to it by performing it the most inefficient way possible!

Lyrics
Lorde- Royals
I've never seen a diamond in the flesh
I cut my teeth on wedding rings in the movies
And I'm not proud of my address, in the torn up town
No post code envy
But every song's like gold teeth, Grey Goose, trippin' in the bathroom
Bloodstains, ball gowns, trashin' the hotel room
We don't care, we're driving Cadillacs in our dreams
But everybody's like Cristal, Maybach, diamonds on your timepiece
Jet planes, islands, tigers on a gold leash
We don't care, we aren't caught up in your love affair
And we'll never be royals
It don't run in our blood
That kind of lux just ain't for us
We crave a different kind of buzz
Let me be your ruler, you can call me Queen B
And baby I'll rule (I'll rule I'll rule I'll rule)
Let me live that fantasy
My friends and I we've cracked the code
We count our dollars on the train to the party
And everyone who knows us knows that we're fine with this
We didn't come from money
We're bigger than we ever dreamed, and I'm in love with being queen
(Ooh ooh oh)
Life is great without a care
We aren't caught up in your love affair
And we'll never be royals
It don't run in our blood
That kind of lux just ain't for us
We crave a different kind of buzz
Let me be your ruler, you can call me Queen B
And baby I'll rule (I'll rule I'll rule I'll rule)
Let me live that fantasy

That feeling when you discover an amazing band, and they've been around forever. Gosh, I'm old. These guys are great.
Totally agree. I must have been living under a rock as only discovered them today 🤷♀️😁👍🏻 (may 2023)
Cause this is the same feeling I'm feeling
@@ajcurran100 I think I was on another planet too find out today 05/2023
Lindsey bring me here, just found this band today 😂 November 2023. Better than never
My son and I spent about an hour analyzing this. Boy, that was a lot of fun! There is SO MUCH going on! What a performance! How many of you noticed...
1) the number of times the girl and the guy on the end hit the bells in front of them?
Edit: It was 24. They had to take turns depending on which had a free right hand while taking a ukulele with the left hand.
2) that the middle two guys are playing the drums with their feet all the way through?
3) that they had to use four ukuleles for this (four colors of the little hand-clappers)
4) how thick the strings on the bass ukuleles were?
5) that the guy who rolled in was doing vocal bass, since the bass ukulele wasn't being played? Notice how long he sustains that deep note.
Edit: Oops! It wasn't vocal. He was blowing into instruments like didgery doos!
6) how much physical stuff the guy next to the girl had to do?
7) that the girl's teeth twinkled at the end? Perfect special effect!
Edit: 8) what the two guys in the middle are slapping that's hanging in front of their necks? It's silverware.
Hey, I'd be interested in any discoveries other viewers have made. This whole thing was like analyzing a magician's act, only there's no sleight of hand or deception. It's all happening in plain sight (except for the drum playing).
And it was a darn good song! Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to spend so long studying it.
Edit: Oh, and what might be the most amazing but least noticeable part: It was one continuous video. No edits!
Fascinating observations! Sounds like something my long gone Daddy and I would have done! N one of the other video comments, someone said that their music teacher showed the class 1 of their videos then gave them the opportunity to replicate it! Even with time and instruments, they never came close. I bet they will never forget how much fun making music is and how much dedication music takes, even with unconventional instruments.
@@vikithomasson7772 There's another video showing them making this one. You gotta see it.
@Donny D Yep, the two guys on the right are doing it, too. If you look at what each person is doing during that part, it is completely symmetrical -- the left two are a mirror image of the right two.
Like I said. There is SO much going on, here.
Even your comment dude hard to analyze
Their Hey Ya! video is just as complex and also perfectly executed. Just amazing. ruclips.net/video/Z7R8XRKqHAI/видео.html
omg bearded guy swoopin in just killed me : D:D
Mike's a friggin nut. He almost HAS to do something goofy towards the end of their videos lol

Rest in peace Mike "Beard Guy" Taylor. You will be missed 😭
Very very sad,such a guy.
Oh... Rest in peace mr. Taylor🙏
Wow, I have been out of touch with reality...what happened to BeardedGuy??
Is he dead?
@@luccavs yes he died dec 31 2018 If I remember right
Some of the most talented musicians I've seen! 👍🍻💃✌
Jajaja Jajaja Jajaja that's hilarious, very good!
Really enjoy the song, but "most talented musicians?" You can learn to play a uke and a didgeridoo in a stoned afternoon. In fact, I'm pretty sure there is legislation saying you're only allowed to learn the didgeridoo high.
I agree to you bruh!
Jeffery Davis
uh, they play multiple instruments, often at the same time. have you watched gianni's cover of drifting? that most definitely takes longer than a stoned afternoon to learn to play. as for the digeridoo, taylor plays piano
Blasto2x With the exception of people who just played in high school band or something like that, every musician I know, myself included, plays multiple instruments. If you make playing and performing a part of your life, it's almost hard to avoid learning a handful. I like their music, and yeah I've seen his cover of drifting. It's very cool how he organizes the piece on the instrument, but it's one of those things that looks much harder than it is, especially to people who don't play, or don't play well. It's actually precisely the type of thing that I, or one of my friends, would learn on a stoned afternoon.
There is a stunning amount of talent and skill on display here.
And dexterity, let's not forget that.
Ok, these guys are freaking AWESOME!!!!
My friend just showed me this very video the other day.
David Callaway since you posted another version of this Royals (redhead beatbox) sing this morning, I've not been able to get this song out of my head! Love this. It's my absolute favorite now.
Shazafar Khaja hehe. There are so many cool versions. I think this is my favorite video for Royals. Very creative. Pentatonix do a great version too.
I no thay are
Popped up again after a while. Great band. Rest Well Mr. Taylor.
I Was Like Who's Missing? Then The Epic Beard Guy Came :D aha!
Epic beard guy is easily the best.
Marshall Crowe agreed
+Marshall Crowe That face the whole time :) Makes me happyu :P
+Marshall Crowe I agree
Marshall Crowe all of them are😡
This band should be called, Walk of the Earth & Majestic Sea Captain
lol Much better nickname than "Bearded Guy"
Majestic Sea Captain. Epic. lol
I saw that comment on Facebook, which brought me here... xD
Hilarious!
Josip Hlavacek Jajaja
I just love how they will make literally anything into an instrument, throw instruments around, do cool stunts and have people appear out of nowhere. More than just a band. True bards.
Legend goes they got it done in the first take...
Kieth Fitz liessssssssss
"My nose it itchy" LOL AT THE END. And epic beard guy being epic again
This is true talent.
I can’t imagine how many takes this must’ve took to get right! I love this cover so much tho💗

How did I not hear about these guys? I only found them out recently when Jack's Gap liked their videos. Gosh, RUclips has so many amazing musicians!! Thumbs up for Walk Off the Earth, Pentatonix, Boyce Avenue and all the other amazing musicians that RUclips is home to.
Luffy!
Jay Patel Oh God, I suddenly fell in love with you the moment you said Luffy lol
I listened this one before the original one...
Man it's hard to enjoy the original one now!
I thought that this one was the original...that's how good it is.
I can't believe this is the first time I'm seeing this but it's pretty fucking brilliant.
just discovered them too. They are awesome! Good to see there is still some talent around!
For sure. Listened to a bunch of their songs now. Really enjoy the humor.
Tuff Luff please don't swear
Same here. I friend send me their Feliz Navida video on WhatsApp. He didn't know who they are nor a link. I found them in a first trial. "Feliz navidad with one guitar" did the trick. LOL. They are really talented and I love her voice.
Saw this played during the Grammys when lorde won pop vocal performance, this was amazing. Better then the original
Combine great lyrics, super tune, unbelievable talent, sensational showmanship and finally, groovy singing... this is what you get!
This is better than the original. Seriously, every time people sing the original or I hear it on the radio, I say, "yeah it's okay but Walk Off The Earth's version is better." Your covers are always better!!
I love you guys so much
What I love most about your videos is that you guys understand how to keep the ball in the air. There's something new and interesting happening just often enough to reward continued attention despite the repetition necessary in songs. So few content creators understands this, whether they are amateur RUclipsrs or big time Disney execs. Video has a heartbeat and if you want your video to really keep people engaged and happy.... you keep that god damned ball in the air.
I always watch this from time to time when I am having a bad day. And of course I watch just to hear it. Performed great!! My family has seen live, but I haven't. However, I just heard today that Beard Guy passed away. It is odd with music, not knowing the musicians personally does not keep the mind from forming a "friendship " of sorts. Musicians are so unique. Must be the gift that comes across when we see them. I'm old..59...and if I could do something over, it would be to involve myself with music. Hard to hear that he is gone. So talented and funny. I'll watch the video over a few more times since I'm having a bad day. Thank you to Beard Guy. Mike? I think?
Still gives me goose bumps hearing these cats doing this song. Even after all this time. Miss you beard guy, Mike.
absolute stunning
Glad everyone's loving this!

Concert for voice, ukulele, bass ukulele, digeridoo, cymbal, bass drum, silverware, and bells!
I'm pretty sure that's never been done.
OMG that was so impressive!
You guys truly are some gifted musicians.
How many takes for that one? If it was first take I will be on my knees worshiping you as gods!
Ha ha! Good job WOTE. The thing I always love about your music videos is that Captain Majestic Beard Guy always makes an intro like a BOSS. People can't help but love the guy in some way. He's like a badass Chuck Norris Captain of the Majestic Sea type dude. Keep those intros of his coming because it's a highlight in these videos. My wife and I make bets of how he will enter a music video next.
Not my song, not my genre, but damn if the execution on every single freaking angle possible isnt amazing. Great artists, great sound engineering team.
It's kindof cool to see what they put into the music, the forks on thier necks, and hands on guitar
Hi beautiful
the sea captain always gets me laughing... even though he doesnt do much, this band wouldnt do much without him..
Sue McQueen He always has the best parts
Sue McQueen I agree :D HAHAHA
Sue McQueen Haha he always creeps in from out of shot and i rarely notice him until hes right in center screen. This pleases me greatly.
Anyone knows his name though?

HitmanJake2113 Well Jiminy Crickets, Thank you for replying! That one I saw . . for some reason, my comment is supposed to be on the Happy cover video! LOL!
can't watch the behind the scenes
Hello WOTE!
You are amazing, all of you! I just wanted to say that, and this:
I have a suggestion for a cover you could do! I know that you put a LOT of work into making a video, and recording a song, but please consider doing a cover of Space Oddity, by David Bowie. I think you would make an absolutely marvelous version of that song. Please consider it!
I so envy your togetherness!!!
thank you for existing and sharing your genius
love love love

Alabaster Eyes Thank you I'll be here all night.
I just realized that Sarah and Marshall were trading off hitting the hands and hitting the bells. They had the hardest parts I believe.
+Kelly Stout They sure did. However I did notice that Marshall hit the wrong last bell every time in the first half. Like, at 1:13 he was supposed to hit the orange instead of the red. He hits the red correctly at 2:58 and it suddenly has a completely different sound. I'm not gonna watch it again for the bell, but I don't think Marshall hit a single orange bell xD he hit red instead every time. Anyway, no hate from me. I support the decision to re-record the audio to make it perfect. No doubt they have the skills to do it live, but it would've never sounded this perfect if they did.
+Kelly Stout But similarly, giannis and the tall guy had to do the forks on their knifes, tap on the ukelele, and do the bassdrum and crash, so I think the jobs are distributed pretty well
+King of Khaos Close to the end of the song, at 2:50 or so, Marshall and Sarah "switch places". What I mean by that is that Sarah usually plays the first bell at the start of the chorus, but after 2:50, that's Marshalls job. This means they have to change the 'pattern' they are pressing the bell. Marshall does not. He plays the same pattern no matter what. Like I said in the original comment, listen to Marshall's bell at 1:13, then immediately listen to Marshall's bell at 2:58. He hits the same bell, but with completely different sound. It is obvious that Marshall and Sarah have the same set of bells, and that Marshall hit the wrong bell every time before the switch at 2:50. Again, as I said, I'm not hating. I love to see that they're human and can make mistakes, and I have no doubt they can actually do it live. But it isn't. Which I also approve of. Love them!
Joel's part is definitely the hardest.. between the kick drum rhythm, the utensils, the bass uke and the regular uke he's got the most on his plate
Dark Knight And none of it would actually have to be played correctly for the video as the audio is pre recorded.
You're going to be a hit for a long time, guys....well done.
I miss Beard Guy so much. He was a talented guy, and made WOTE unique. I saw them in Dallas just before he passed. So sad. 😮
The beard guy always does the best entrance
Lets be honest, everytime you guys cover a song, you do the song better.
Rip Mike the beard guy
I wouldn't say everyone, but this one.. yes I agreed
You mean the red t show Rd?
Sorry I meant the red t shirt
They are so good
Omg he died?? Rip..
You know, I didn't really liked the original song of this...you guys made me love this song, simply because your cover is so much better
My thoughts exactly
Our favorite song, legends💙👍🏼
I am absolutely in love with Walk off the Earth's music! So much talent! I have been keeping an eye out for their touring dates. I sure would love it if they would come to Kentucky or somewhere close. Will travel for divine music!
ABSOLUTELY the most creative group I have ever seen! Amazing focus, talent and voices. Keep on AMAZING!
These guys are unique and funny and talented. Nice job. Couldn't care for the original but they made it more enjoyable.
Yea I really like this version of the song
Dominick Stewart Definitely
Dominick Stewart I didn't like the original much... love this one though!
Bomgle a
I agreed 100%, I'm not impressed by the original.. this version sounds much better.
It's creations like this one that will never make me give up on what people can do.

Luca Vichemont or the "hoverboard".... its not actually a hoverboard, to my surprise when I got it in the mail
Kiwi here. Somewhat embarrassed to discover this group more than a decade late, but at the same time grateful view the awesome talent on display. And to find out your Canadians, that’s practically related.
you were just on the grammys!
Crazy how this works, doesn't it? I just good hooked on this band and their amazing covers and I immediately recognized them as soon as I saw them on the Grammys! Kudos WOTE!
***** and... do you expect me to know that...?
I AM SCREAMING, YES!!! I REALLY THINK YOU GUYS ARE SUPER TALENTED AND THE LITTLE LADY TOO! Thank you for your music
UNREAL! Love it guys!
I hear this on the radio all the time and I'm sick of it. But WOTE makes this song manageable
i cant even express how much i enjoy listening and watching you guys/gal. it's a rare occasion i really enjoy what i hear .
+camille sylvester im addicted to these guys,,
they deserve a hell of a lot more recognition,
christ, they have more talent than all of the top 20 combined,
if you guys ever gig in Scotland,, gimme a shout lol
How can they have much more recognition than 172 million views on their top video?
Ben Gardner
likes and views on youtube lol
im talking mainstream success,,,
i dont think spotty you tubers count as success lol
theherbilgerbil2029
When I listened to the radio more (a couple of years ago) I would regularly hear their songs on the pop station. I'm not sure if that's how it still is, but they at least spent a while with mainstream success.
Absolutely Awesome
I'm taken aback! Perfection+talented people+a fantastic sense of humor. Thumb up from Poland again... :-)
why would anyone dislike this?
and yes this is live, doing it in one take. it is not lip synched to a pre-recorded track
Not so sure about the one take part, but the rest, yes. They'e awesome :P
it's pre-recorded. you're a fool.
They use some of the ambient sound from the take, but you can't tell me if it's not pre-recorded that they overdubbed certain parts of it for crisp sound. I have watched it many times and I am still not sure how they did it. I have a feeling they pre-recorded, they added in certain things from the live, and they made sure the video hit every note in the song (an impressive feat on its own.)
+MLJonny Let me rephrase my self 1 year later: The whole video was shot with no ''cuts or edits'' meaning everything is choreographed, it took several takes (watch behind the scenes). One mistake and they have to do everything again. They even did a mistake at 2:32 with the hands. The Audio was taking from the video were they played live like i said.
The could have ''sharpened'' but some extra effects, mix the souds so it sounds better. Nothing to the extend to what you usually do in a music video. But the it was not pre-recorded.
I swear to god this cover is better than the original.
It's good, but it's not.
Jello Bean 21 is not everyone, neither is 36.
Jello Bean That is a very immature thing to say. No, it doesn't.
Agreed!
haha wow pre school much???
Amazing!
Beard guy coming in majestically
Crazy over this love it
The beard guy is just so...majestic
Like the father god of all .
Only the girl doesn't have a beard.. ;)
Music Talent and Music Creativity!!!!! Walk Off The Earth ,Thank You For Being You!!!!
my daughter loses it when you throw the ukes. we love your videos, it is the only time she will chill out on my lap since she turned 2. thanks.
Hahahahahahah
I showed this to a couple of friends last week, and when the uke catch hit, they were like, WHUT. ;)
The coordination that went into this is stunning ... really love this!
Love the ukulele swaps xD
This group of people are awesome.
The guy in the back definitely carried the whole performance.
He's the FAMOUS Beard Guy off Walk Off The Earth. They're probably the most loved cover band out of Canada.Beard Guy doesn't really sing, but his nonchalant expressions & background antics are kind of well known now.
I practically freaked out when I saw the beard guy behind.. He was like:
SOON.
Who did you suspect with the didgeridoos in the background?
This never gets old. Love you guys!
There's just something magical about this song.
1:16 like a boss
Epic beard man is epic.
1:15 the beard guy walks in. I saw him right away.
Floats in. Walking is only for us mere mortals hehe.
Corbin Bishop good for you
those flying ukuleles!!!!! definitely fascinating me!
They always take covers to a whole new level ❤😌
My other fave! This, and the Shape of You 😍. I would luv every minute of being part of your tribe...for now I at least get to watch and enjoy every minute of that!!
1:17 he’s literally so majestic
OMG the intricacies are astounding.
So creative :)
they did this so perfectly that when they pass the ukuleles it looks like a side scrolling video game where you end up on the other side.
I guarantee they are super good at Bop It.
That comment cracked me up! XD
Especially the "pass it" part 🤣
Fantastic!
Coming back here seven years later, still loving it.
me too! 👍
Nicely done you guys!
Did you see their "Somebody That I Used To Know"? fabulous!
Yeah, it's pretty amazing.
amazing musicians!
I figured out the perfect way to describe Walk Off the Earth.
A band of One-man Bands.
FANTASTIC!!!!
The man at back is a badass
Hats off to all the members * Super talented and Gifted 😍
So smooth, I love how y'all work together, and never disappoint!
