What I liked about Discovery when I was growing up is the way they never talked to me like a child. Discovery was a children's program aimed at the adults we were expected to become in the future. As a result, Discovery has a unique place in history as a childhood introduction to the meaning of civilization.

Thank you for bringing back a cherished childhood memory. I used to look forward to Sunday to watch this show. The introduction song and the art (the little bird was my favorite) always got me ready for another fun and educational adventure.
How I wish things like this could still be done today...

I remember seeing this when it was first broadcast, I had to get up and manually change the channel with a small dial with the twelve numbers of the channels on it - though there were only four actually on the air. Then fine tune a bit with the outer dial on that channel changer after having moved the rabbit ear antennas around to tune in the station and turn the volume up with a small knob turning it to the right.. Then just as I had it and went to sit down I would have get back up - go over and adjust the horizontal hold so the black stripe moving from bottom to the top of the screen would quit. Man we had it good.

Hard to believe there was a time when Michigan was one of the greatest production areas on earth. It seems like another world now. Sad and disgusting.

Yep, that's capitalism. American workers realized what they were worth, unionized, and then the capitalists decided to move production to areas where workers have no power.

"This is an ABC color presentation." LOL. I remember our first color TV. It was in a cabinet as big as a Subaru.

On Sunday mornings, I remember watching this show, I always found it to be quite a fascinating bit of information that most kids & adults would enjoy, too bad they don't have a show like this anymore, it's a changing world, but what is it changing into???

On CBS on Saturday mornings, they have a show about technology called Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation, which is similar, although host Moe Rocca tries to add humorous wordplay & puns to each feature.

Hard to believe going from 1967 back to Model T’s is the same as nowadays going back to the First Gen. Mustangs.

Boy, they don’t like ‘em like this anymore! Very informative, all things considered, but I did feel as though at any second I was about to be offered a fantastic deal on a brand-new Ford.
