If the piston to valve clearance and valve to valve overlap is good. It could be a valve guide issue opening up the clearance especially on a bronze guide to prevent valves sticking/bending when the engine is warm. Also on alchohol/ethanol fuels it's always good to use a quality fuel lube

High rpms require very heavy valve springs or else youll have valve float which is what happened.. so heavier springs is all you need to prevent the same failure from happening again. P.s. im a seasoned mechanic.

Aluminum rods will grow a lot more than steel rods when they heat up! The engine is under max load much longer going down the track compared to a run on the dyno. Check the piston to valve clearance, the rod manufacture will have the suggested minimum clearance. Or the stock cams should fix the problem, with some loss of HP. Good luck!!!

@@neosam8053 no way to tell lol. That was no npi 2v. It was certainly a cobra 4v and those side brake cooling ducts told me that it wasn't a clone. Very seldom do cobra clones have the functional brake ducts rather than just a gt insert.

I have seen in other 4cly if the valve springs are not heavy enough the 2step can force open the valves and make the exhaust valve hit the intake valve or piston.
Might have to give your pistons a very small fly cut for the added clearance. It might not be needed, but will give the added room for a mistake/miss shift.
I think you should start checking more clearances when building these high hp motors especially when using higher lift cams, check your piston to valve and degree the cams, those are very very important, limiters won't cause that if the motor was built for it in terms of parts but you gotta dial in those cams, never over look these things bro , make sure to lock the vtec when you degree the cams ,that way you can degree it with the higher lift lobe ,hope it helps bro
I agree. You can slap together a slightly built engine running low boost and get away with it, but on a multi-thousand dollar engine running MASSIVE boost and high rpm, it needs to be done properly. It's only worked as well as it has purely out of luck...

The 240 column actually extends at the bottom, ( engine bay side) it has a double ended splined slip fit. it may be seized from age, not sure if itll help but this may give you enough room to move the rack forward.
Yes make sure you roll up your windows, rain can come out of nowhere. To be successful you have to be creative and willing to take risks. I give you a lot of credit for doing what will ultimately help grow your channel and brand. Put a little dish soap in the bleach, that will help suspend the dirt particles and wash them away.
You can pick up a soap injector for the inlet side, goes between the garden hose & the pump. Then it'll works just like a car wash with high pressure soap coming out. It's really the way to go for little home game washers, you just put a little dish soap in & away you go.
What’s was the valve to valve clearance? Edit: double check you’re cam specs and see what you’re max +\- timing is before you’re valves tap and double check all that with vtec lobe to.
Hey Florida Man! Bleach does not clean, just makes the dirt white. Now "new" dirt will stick easier to your walls, the surface being rough, causing more work in the future. Soap for washing dishes probably would ve been fine as a basic solution, people often underestimate how powerfull that stuff is. Just remember to work from bottom to top, whatever you use. Need more advice on things like this, send me a pm. I ll throw in my 15+ years of experience in cleaning up other peoples sh*t and find you a cheap solution. It s the least I can do for all the awesome content you guys gave me the last few years! My dad is a recently retired mechanic, and since his retirement, I am trying to convince him to do a car project like the MR2 K swap together. When you are done cleaning the walls. Home Depot or Lowe’s has this stuff called “set and forget” it’s meant to keep the metal walls clean. Spray that stuff on 1 time a year and you don’t have to worry about dirty walls.
Ask your machine shop about valve guide clearances. Our machine shop has to ream about the guide for a little extra clearance on our race motors due to heat causing the valve to expand and stick in the guide, resulting in a bent valve.

Adapt off the steering joint with some plain round bar or the end of another steering shaft, drill a hole through the joint and the bar and secure with a bolt. Weld it for added strength

If you change the rack, make sure the rack ends have to be as wide as the lower control arm inners or it'll bump steer.

That was a long walk but I agree
coke is so bad for him man if you guys love him you will get him off the coke. You can see he is having some breathing problems from the acid reflux and it will cause him to be low energy as the caffine keeps him going in overdrive. I been there done that with the soda so hard to quit. Guy is 44 should be taking care better.

When you are done cleaning the walls. Home Depot or Lowe’s has this stuff called “set and forget” it’s meant to keep the metal walls clean. Spray that stuff on 1 time a year and you don’t have to worry about dirty walls.
We hot rod builders typically use flaming river u joints or borgesson u joints, steering racks are from the same companies
That feeling you’re having of it being year round is the same feeling I had when moving from New Hampshire to Georgia.
For the steering shaft look up what alot of swapped drift cars use it might point you in the right direction.
possibly aluminum rod stretch causing piston to valve clearance issue if it happens again might try a thicker head gasket
Ask your machine shop about valve guide clearances. Our machine shop has to ream about the guide for a little extra clearance on our race motors due to heat causing the valve to expand and stick in the guide, resulting in a bent valve.
Kyle you need to use some simple green and pre spray the walls and just hose it down. Works like a charm!

Woodward steering can make you whatever kind of linkage extension or adapter you need
Adapt off the steering joint with some plain round bar or the end of another steering shaft, drill a hole through the joint and the bar and secure with a bolt. Weld it for added strength
