Glad you were able to enjoy your time in Barcelona, Andy. Bummer that you weren't able to do the race, but that's okay. Travel is first and foremost about visiting and exploring a new place and culture, and enjoying that time with family/friends/travel companions. Running is secondary... and that's coming from me, the "Travel Runner". Ha! Travel is not cheap, of course, but I hope you're able to find other European races to do in the future. Best of luck in London this spring, my friend!
Ah Nick, that was so amazing to chat to you there… massive well done, it was windy out there on the day so big respect! Take care of yourself, I might see you out there again next year 👊
Was nice to meet you mate, gutted you couldn’t run but still an amazing city to visit. Good luck with the rest of your training and hope you’re feeling better
Loving these updates. 900 quid for a good few days in a 4br in a fun city is a banging bargain. I'm amazed at how many forms of public transit you needed to use to get there, but I suppose that's a euro norm. I might do this next year! -Nick in NYC
Any reason you didn't drive to Stansted? Would probably have been faster, more convenient and cheaper? I'm quite lucky in that I'm only 40 minutes away so European holidays get really really convenient! Get well soon, don't rush the return
Thanks buddy…. Quite a ballache from where we are to get there, plus our car has been in the garage recently for alot of work and we don’t trust it for long journeys, so we decided against using it
I raced it for the fifth time (I think) since I live just outside Barcelona. Always love this race. Got another PB at 1:28:44, super happy with that. It was a bit chilly in the morning and quite windy so I was doubtful about getting a PB, but during the race there was no problem. I managed to sneak behind people whenever there was a bit of wind. The shirt indeed looks great this year, usually they're more simple. Someone already called me Spider-man wearing it, but the blue and red elements are inspired by Gaudi. Hope you can come back some day and experience the race.
Obviously this is too late to influence your decision, but from what you have said about your last run there is no way on earht that you should move any faster than a slow walk. Clearly, you are ill. What would you gain by running a slow race? nothing. What could you lose by running? Several weeks more of enforced rest. Why risk anything. Watch the race, enjoy a few San Miguels and eat paella. Relax and enjoy a holiday. You have plenty of time to recover from the bug and get intp PEAK shape for London - if you don't try and force it while you are still ill.

Was a pleasure to meet you in the park on the Saturday! Hopefully you felt better for race day. I ended up running a 1:38 PB, so well chuffed 😊 Nick
