The pre-game intro was nice. Seeing all the different hand-shakes and celebrations within the sequence is a major plus.

how does it feel though? some animations still look a bit clumsy so I'm kinda wondering if you feel that in the controls as well
When I slowed the pace down (65 from 80), the game felt good to me. There's some inconsistencies with the collision system, but as far as handles, I think it's pretty good. It's all about the timing with the dribbling.

Commentary is kinda bad tho
Johnathan Bravo commentary is terrible. They've got Mike & Jeff in studio together like they've never done games with each other before. If the Live team can do what the Madden team has done in making commentary as up to date & conversational as possible, it would only get better from there

+Marquan Pittman actually commentary can be something that could impact actual gameplay. At times it could be very entertaining and realistic like 2k13 was in my opinion. Plus for a franchise like nba live every little thing matters if they want relive their old status

This video was exciting to watch. I'm seeing too many comments negative comments about live some of y'all are nick picking honestly. 2k have a book full of flaws and yet y'all are criticizing EA for little things. I give EA props because live 16 wasn't playable in my opinion but 18 is. If they can build off of this moving forward than NBA live is looking promising. 2k will be 2k y'all so quick to run on here and defend a game that try to get extra cash out you(some of you by Vc more than anything)
Live definitely has made a HUGE step forward since their last *almost* release, but it still doesn't beat 2K this year. Body types are a little off, it still has those clunky "Live" animations when running/dribbling, and idk what difficulty this is on, but too many shots were falling. Could see them really putting up a fight within the next couple of years though which would be a nice change of pace, making 2K really have to step their game up.

looks nice ...while the crowd sounds great but the put back dunk 13:57 to take the lead..should have the crowd/the play by play announcer going crazy and the players too..very anticlimactic and another problem.. EA should have the true reaction of the players..LeBron he celebrates but not like that and not in that situation..the movement in both NBA2K and Live is robotic but Live seems a little more smooth and realistic like...

Contact layups needs to be tuned, this is getting ridiculous!
I turned down blocks and some other things, because the amount of blocks in the game was getting ridiculous. This is a highlight video, I assure you a lot of lay ups were missed in this game. I would rather have the contact lay ups than 10 blocks a game. I'm definitely going to test these current sliders I have when the full game drops. I think I got the game to play to my liking, but some things still need tuning. Hopefully EA Access on Friday so I can find out

ThaLiveKing I love Live this year, getting it for sure...but I won't lie, some of the players are OP to the 10th power. LeBron will jump 20 feet, KD is virtually unguardable (although I did make him miss a lot of shots with the Rockets). And all of sudden, this new patch has DRose making contact layups and dunks like it's 2011!! It's cool, I don't mind the OP factor, I take it as a challenge...a little NBA Street vibe mixed in there

Some of these layups killing me who does floaters and layups 15 feet away from the basket that what kills me but other than that and stuff body movements I'm buying both so I will give it a fair chance.

Pretty damn good for live. Crowd is more lively than on 2k. You'd prob hear crickets or at best a golf clap after a big play lol. Live does the little things well. If the fluidity of the game play improves..who knows

Live's graphics are better than 2K's IMO, the lighting is the difference. I may have found something in regards to smoothing the animations out too, just gotta dig deep.

The gameplay look stiff and the commentary and so choppy. The commentary doesnt flow and they go completely silent for long stretches. Idk what people saying about the crowd. Its lit because they dont sit down?

2k has better graphic but Live has better gameplay and detail(notice no cheese when dribbling, better layup animation packages and more combo moves when dribbling). The ONLY reason why I'm buying 2k is because of the classic teams. I MUST have that feature in a basketball game. But if you don't care about that feature then CLEARLY live looks better. I have no reason to hate on any brand. Live looks more robotic but at the same time, it's smoother. 2k STILL has canned animations, the SAME layup package, the SAME signature dribbling and they didn't even work on individual sigs. They have been pumping all of their true intellectual capacity into their Prelude/ My Park feature. Their 5 v % game play has improved but not nearly at the level that Live has made the jump from Live 17 to Live 18. You can hate but at one time Live had the dominant market share. If they get those classic teams I GUARANTEE Live will start to take back its market share. I mean look at the views for Lives demo. 2k dominates the market but CLEARLY more people are excited about this game than ever. If anything it's going to make 2k step their shit up for next year.

What game speed do they recommend? 80 or 70? and which speed do you play on?
I play on 65, they actually sped the game play up in the last update (to 80 from 70). I think to control your offense, it's better to have it slower than the normal speed. It varies.

i've said this for maybe the last 3 NBA Live's, the 1 thing that really makes me cringe about their games is the commentary. Mike Breen sounds like he's only reading from a script & JVG has annoyingly generic lines like "to be in the finals, you've got to win this critical game." even the halftime show with Jalen desperately needs work when you hear "this guy is cold, this team is on fire." EA MUST use their ESPN integration to full force for NBA Live 19 & beyond

One thing I don't like is that it looks like layups are nearly automatic. I'm halfway into the vid, and I've seen way too many contact layups made.

ascendedmastery I play on both on the PS4 and Xbox one and I have to stand by this I found myself playing Live slightly more than 2K and there was a time all I played was 2K

Both are great i like live commentary and presentation gameplay is solid graphic are ehh but i love playing with myplayer online which is great pro am is fun. BUT 2k is just great with their fluid gameplay my carrer and neighborhood. So im obvioulsy getting both becuase both have pros and cons

The movement and running just look sloppy, 2k looks and feels a little smoother, certainly wasn't the case with these 2 games in the mid 2000s, 2k definitely made a bigger step at the end of the last decade

the game overall seems good but the animation just feels a little off
I'm a nba2k fan but at least NBA live looks very playable this year for live fans and lives crowd noise has always been better than nba2k for some odd reason....nba2k crowds just animate better

Commentary still doesn't match what happens on the court. Way too many threes being made. Shot selection and circus shots are off as well. Live still has a lot of catching up to do with 2K.

8,000 people got Live 16, yet everyone wants Live back because of one poorly made game in 2K17. Did EA fix anything from the long hiatus with Live before so why trust them now. From the differences from 2K17 to 18 that I saw are big minus MyCareer and the other online modes. Great changes to player faces, like Iggy, The Truth, Wilt, Shaq, Lebron, Brook and Robin Lopez, MJ, Pip, The Worm, Kareem, Larry Legend, etc. The All-Time Teams, more Classic Teams, putting some more Legends in like Carlos Boozer, Kevin Martin, Al Harrington go to the '07 Warriors, Caron Butler, Gerald Wallace, Clark Kellogg, and some more that are role players also, while Live 18 only has the WNBA which should be a different game, the coloring of the players which is a heluva lot better than 2K17.
If Live wanted to they can do those legendary teams, but for some reason, in the EA Structure, they haven't done it. NHL 19 is looking to add legend teams, hopefully Live follows with them. It's very possible.

2k18 has better player graphics than live. Live has better player realism. Live wins in effects and style. But, the only thing I don't like about this live is the basketball feels fake. It bounces and plays more like a volleyball than a basketball. Espically when it bounces on and off the rim they could have done a better job. But live is deff doing a better job with actually making you feel like your really there than 2k.

uploading some videos tonight and tomorrow with the default sliders, it's the best way to go. Most of these videos are with me tinkering with the sliders, that's why some looks good, and others off

tbh, this game is a significant improvement compared to the previous one.. But damn, it still looks and feels like garbage, lol I know people are more willing to give Live a chance, considering how shitty the 2k franchise turn out to be after the 2 last entries, the new 2k18 also looks like shit, etc The reality is that bball fans lives in a dark age, lol There is no parity in the real NBA and the "simulation" games are fucking terrible. Maybe in a couple of years things can get back on track again, but right now, I will pass on both live and 2k, the real NBA only the playoffs matter, fantasy leagues... naaah
