25 years ago, phew... Manos is one of my favorite albums *EVER*. Thank you very much OP for letting us remember how amazing The Spinanes' live sound was.
Am so glad somebody has this Conan appearance on here!! Such a good clip!... Whoever booked the bands for the first series of Conan was a genius. Case in point.
Beautiful! I love the Spinanes and sometimes I forget just how good Late Night could be. 20 years ago already. It seems so long ago and it seems like yesterday.
Simply love and miss this band. Saw them live twice and what a wall of sound from just two musicians (Rebecca and Scott). Tanks so much for posting! I check RUclips often to see if any new live material has been added.
Hello John, Thanks for stopping by and letting me know how much you enjoyed this clip [and their music]. Always happy to know these clips have made someone excited to see and hear something live, that may have escaped deserved attention, at the time ;)
So glad this is up here. I’m transferring stuff from an old VHS and I have this one too but in worse quality. I love The Spinanes, feel fortunate that I saw them a few times.
"Keep your tapes to yourselves", her arrogant demeaner aside, it's safe to say a bass player would have helped this band SO much, there's no bottom whatsoever.
Didn't hurt the White Stripes = everyone made a big deal out of it (no bass) like nobody had done it before. Witness the Spinanes- had two people and were just a way better (innovative, less derivative) band. With headphones on there is bottom end esp in the beginning of this song.. I heard she used to detune her low strings and or used a bass pedal (I think she accidentally left it off second half of song). Live they had a big sound for two people.

Rebecca Gates is such a great vocalist. Very distinct vocal style. Huge fan.
Amazing that she's getting that sound out of what looks like a beat up practice amp
shitty amps are the best amps

You are spot on....

It was a wonderful show back then, but once it became popular they seemed to stop booking a lot of the great bands that they had in their early years.

Just as good now as it was then
Thank you! Thank You! Thank You!
You're most welcome, chasspeed :)
Conan got some really obscure back in the day. This is why hes the last best american late night talk show host
Wow really rockin’. Ace!
Reminds me of college . Good times listening to pixies and the smiths too
Always play this album when I'm all pissed up...time machine
When they do the Spinanes movie the drummer should be played by Michael Cera
Manos is still the best sub pop album ever released.
I need to make this my ringtine.....but im too old😑
Looks like drummer is wearing those particular sunglasses in tribute to Kurt Cobain, who had died one month before this air date.
I don't know why, but I kinda expected her to talk like Daria's mom there.

By the third album, Arches and Aisles in 1998, Spinanes had a bass player. Welcome to 2019.

I disagree . I think it’s confidence she’s exuding by saying “keep your tapes to yourselves” and I love their sound . Plenty of rhythm from the drums…
