It was one of the few dunks I've ever seen that I didn't even have in my imagination as something a human being could do. His body is folded like a chair right next to the rim, it's ludicrous.

@@parkermudsen1063 It's not about someone just executing a particular difficult dunk. It's about the difficulty + how gracefully and acrobatically you executed the dunk. Aaron Gordon, as difficult as that dunk is, used the mascot as leverage to gain more vertical clearance as he was jumping, not to mention he looks a little silly. Vince Carter's dunk is not only difficult, but the way he pulled that off is just flawless acrobatically. It's the same logic as why often figure skaters who pulled off triple axel jumps do not win gold medal over skaters who flawlessly finished their programs without triple axel jumps in the Olympics. Why? did you pull off the triple axel jump? Yes but how did you pull it off? in what fashion did you pull off the jump?
@@babbattaDAdentist if you’re talking about the “sitting in the air” dunk AG didn’t push off of the mascot to get clearance at all. He straight jumped over a 6” tall mascot on skates holding the ball up in the air. He made that dunk look easy on the first try. Like I said, I’ve never seen any do that dunk before or since. But I have seen plenty of people execute Vince’s dunks. Now those dunks were amazing, but that particular dunk by AG was several levels beyond that.
@@parkermudsen1063 Watch that dunk again, you can see the mascot moving backwards a little bit because Aaron Gordon is applying force to uplift his body more and the mascot is trying to pushing forward against the force created by Aaron Gordon. He definitely used the mascot as leverage. Again I'm not knocking his dunk. It's an incredible dunk, but not better than Vince Carter's. Also you can't use the arguement, "That dunk has been done by others so you can't call that the best dunk." By that logic 99% of dunks in dunk contest shouldn't even be attempted.

Jason Richardson Off-the-Glass Between the Legs, Dwight Howard's Double-Tap Off The Glass, Desmond Mason's lean Between-The-Legs (with the commentator's reactions), and Dwight's Superman Dunk all need to be on the list. Dee Brown's was cool and the pumped shoes was historic, but it's not over that stuff.

The only dunk that no one will ever able to repeat was Aaron Gordon's dunk... it should be #1. That vert height, hang time and control after the dunk defies the law of physics..
Zach Lavine and Derrick Jones Jr. in any other year (save for 2000) absolutely deserved to win. But for those two contests Aaron Gordon was probably the greatest dunker I’ve ever seen performing in a dunk contest, with only Carter being in the argument.

How AG hoverboard 360 isn’t #1 is crazy
Personally I think you could make the argument that Aaron's dunk where he grabs theball from the mascot spinning around on the hover round was better. Certainly looks harder to pull off IMO. Timing has to be perfect, you have to be able and cup the basketball just right and be athletic enough to spring around and slam it. Probably the most difficult dunk I've ever seen performed and he got it on the first try which makes it my personal favorite of all time.
I’m tired of these old people pretending like the old dunks are better than what Zach and Arron did. Like I get adding a few old classics to pay homage but let’s not pretend like it’s the same level.

I get the historical moments like Dominique off the glass, Vince arm in rim, etc. My list is solely based on skill and difficulty. Spud dunk is hard to rank cuz his height makes so much difficulty.
No way #8 Dee Brown no look tomohawk, #5 Dominique off Glass, #3 Jordan from Freethrow, #2 Dr J from Freethrow but #9 Lavine Between the legs from Freethrow and #4 Gordon umder both legs over mascot. 2 best dunks in my opinion they ranked #9 and #4.
