Got mine last week. It’s perfect, BUT we really need someone to save us with a smiling Superman head sculpt. It’s surprising that nobody has done this yet
The mezco one is doing it but who knows when that figure will come out. Mezcos track record of releasing figures that aren't under their own license is God awful. Mr freeze and batman 89 have been on pre order for 2 years.
Great review bro. I like how Mafex covers the ankle ball joints for figures like this that have boots. But…when it comes to a leggings look like Jean Grey, the ankle aesthetic looks wack. So I’m not a fan of ball jointed ankles most of the time. Has to blend in with the sculpt in order for me to like it. But that’s just my opinion.
Missed out on the hush superman so might have to get one of these (i dont have a superman figure in my collection been looking for the perfect one lol)
I dunno if it's the lighting on this figure or the way you posed it, but your review made me cave in and bought this. I generally don't like how huge he looks, but I love the colors and his regular face sculpt AND THAT CAPE. Also love the neck range for flight poses. I tried to resist this because I already have the Mafex Hush Superman, but it got too hard after this review.
This guy blends really well with Marvel Legends figures. You should’ve had him stand side by side with Street Fighter figures (sh figuarts or storm depending on scale). Their body types are very similar!!
This Superman looks amazing, however I have to limit my collecting and unfortunately this Mafex TDKR line is one I know I would love but have to pass on for now. I really hope Mafex has a WW figure planned soon, because I think they would absolutely crush it.
I think this one might be it for me. I've been looking for a Superman figure that goes well with my largely Marvel Legends collection for over a decade, and none of them were quite right. The Mafex Hush is an excellent figure, but a bit small for Legends, in my opinion. Cap and Superman are technically around the same size, but Superman should be bigger in my mind's eye.
@52G Right. That's why I didn't bite the bullet on the Hush version when he was more affordable. I was waiting on the new Mezco Supes, but I'm still not totally sold on the soft goods, and I'm not sure if they will push the release back again.
Great review. Really appreciate the head swaps. I'm not a huge fan of the way Miller drew superman's face, so that was holding me back from this figure. Glad to see there are options!
Bro i laughed when u put that mafex next to Mcfarlane 😂😂😂😂i mean its all good but i just started following you and i was jus shocked u own that figure i dont like Mcfarlane at all.except for the bikes(no offense..love your content bro I respect how u always keep it real when speaking your mind about a product
i think it's kinda crazy that no mafex superman figure comes with a smiling head sculpt. In my mind i always imagine superman smiling, but in figures he's always so serious
Agree. The Jim Lee body mould has been overused The Thor looks too scrawny and so does the DC Steel which also uses the same body mould. I only ordered the Thor after they showed their comicbook Captain America. But ironically I like that same body mould on it.
Your cameras super crisp…Perfect figure, and that head on the McFarlane figure is tooo nice. And sorry but why does it bugs me so much that the hush Superman is so much shorter than hush Batman.
Noooo was really lookin forward for a head swap between both mafex supermans😭 I love the hush super man head but prefer the more bulkier buff body from hush
Yasssss definitely need a DKR Green Arrow! FOR SURE. Aside from the lining on the cape, I wonder if it would have been better with a SLIGHTLY thinner material. I love the wire along the bottom and hope this becomes a standard feature on Mafex capes going forward.
I do not like the DKR designs, And have never purchased a figure based off of them; but, i’m really tempted by this. especially with that McFarlane head swap! This DKR Superman looks like it fits in with every line. I think I could stand right next to the Hush Batman as a normal classic Superman, despite the DKR influence.
Noooo was really lookin forward for a head swap between both mafex supermans😭 I love the hush superman head but prefer the more bulkier buff body from DKR
My vote would probably go to Gambit but they have done lots of great figures. This DKR Superman and the DKR Batman figures have been amazing. Also, I would say take a look at the up coming classic Spider-Man too
Oh, because you mentioned HobbyLink Japan's customer support, I figured I'd also vouch for them. When the first MAFEX Wolverine came out, I ordered mine from them. There were 2 of the right bicep pieces on mine, so I contacted customer support and they sent me a replacement piece pretty much as soon as they got to my message. And even though the order was shipped all the way from Japan, they were super quick about it. Highly recommend them. Thankfully this was the Wolverine figure notorious for the arm popping off, so I was able to replace the piece myself with no problem. But also, I never really had issues with the arms popping off easily once I pegged them all the way in.
my triumphant batman had the hip issue, ordered from amazon and they werent super helpful so i had to fix it myself. i essentially coated the ball joint in vasoline, put it back in place and isue a tooth pick to hold the ball joint inside the socket. vasoline prevented the epoxy from freezing the joint, as long as i dont look too hard its fine.
Mine should deliver today or tomorrow, finally. Also, huge thanks for the headswaps! 👍 It's always one of my favorite and most welcome segments to your reviews or comparison videos, that other ppl aren't doing.
Man, this figure is really nice. I truly like the face and I agree with that notion of McFarlane's not being so cool, but the rest of that figure I do like. It's only the face. This guy here looks cool overrall and this was a nice review, I missed watching them!
The folds on the cape shouldve gone straight to the chest connection. But I guess they couldnt cram it in the chest. That and no extra clean angry head are my only gripes.
That last part was so cute lmao 😂, also if you take more photos than what you already use in the vid plz include them. I love the photos at the end, and figure looks awesome
Would it really be so hard for a toy company to give us a good Superman action figure with a damn smile! I know this is DKR, but just one please. Just so he doesn't look so stern with every figure release.
Mezco is releasing an updated Superman pretty soon that will include a smiling head sculpt...though they might be a non-starter for you if you aren't a fan of soft goods.
@@Doctopian Rumble Society is more of Mezco's thing, they're much more successful with their releases on RS figs. Unfortunately, it's more likely that they'll delay all the licensed figures again, including Superman.
@@UnparalleledUniverse Even better than the Hush Superman? I wasn’t able to get the Hush Superman, but you and DAmazing have me believe this guy will stand in just fine

Thanks for the review. I love mine as well. What is it about the Mafex Thomas Elliot Hush that you didn't like? Did you buy it? I love the head sculpts, body proportions, paint and accessories. The jacket with the arms popping out was slightly annoying, but didn't ruin the figure for me, but can understand other people's frustration.
Mafex has the best butterfly joints on the market. They mimick a real rotator cuff with two points of internal articulation. That allows you to move the arms from the shoulders like a real body. Of course there is some limited movement but it’s pretty damn good. You can move the arms of their figures as far as any real person would normally move their arms. I wonder if their design is patented because no other toy company does it like Mafex.
There was one older figure that sorta had that kinda butterfly joint. It was a Spider-Man figure. I can't remember the exact model of it, but it looked a lot like Mafex Spiderman.
I still prefer the proportions of hush superman. This one looks amazing but my hush superman is still number 1 best superman figure I own. But I'm glad I pre ordered this one. I'm getting him soon so maybe my mind will change. I really really really want mafex to do a Darkseid. Man that would be awesome.
I feel they're more likely going to make Mongul. Mongul was teaming up with Cyborg Superman at the time. Classic Green Lantern may actually happen. Who knows?

Great review Wade. Makes me want to stop what I'm doing and go open this figure that's been sitting on one of my depression piles.
Maaaan you definitely should go do that now! You won’t regret it!
I’m the opposite. I love story, but not the art work all that. I appreciate it though.
Oh I’m with you. I don’t like the art at all but I just like merchandise that is based on the art..if that makes any sense haha

the thor figure mafex is making definitely should have been on this body
Mafex’s comic Thor reminds me of John Buscema Thor, so I’m not complaining at all.
