Not really hp, he's the enemy wth the most knockbacks in the game, at 200. The cat with the most knockbacks is Gummy Cat at 1500.

Weirdly enough, Aku enemies have different "souls", but these ain't shown.

Using breakerblast for ultra baabaa
Alien would win easily if he didn't break ultra baabaa barrier
Health one is reasonable but ultra baba has a 260000 health barrier and none of the enemies have that much damage in 1 hit.
Pretty sure ultra baabaa could solo them all if he had his barrier XD

Looking at how easily aku mowed down aliens I guess the order determines the power. Red being weakest and relic being strongest. Am I on the right track or are there other differences in traits? Or is it merely a color change?
Most traits are "the same" and don't offer special qualities IN THEORY, but it is also true that most X trait enemies share a common niche most of the time.
For example, Reds are usually just enemies with a lot of raw power, mostly melee, and don't give you a significant debuff. Aliens are mostly enemies with a lot of range, and offer incredibly annoying debuffs. Blacks are mostly mega fast, attack super fast and strongly, have a lot of knockbacks, but have little health. Relics mostly Curse your units and have insane stats overall... etc.
So, technically, the trait itself does nothing (except for Metal, Aku and Zombie), but most enemies in a trait share similar aspects. At the end of the day, it's all up to the unit itself
Theres also angel thats immune to anti floating tho that doesn't really cnage much
