I'm surprised they didn't show the famous photo of Elvis & Nixon shaking hands, both facing the camera. It's the most requested photo in The National Archives. And that's not because of Nixon.
45 years after his death & people still can't get enough of The King.

The funniest part of this story was Elvis still alone before Jerry was called and him riding in a cab late at night in a bad part of town and asking the driver to pull over at a donut shop and going in and buying donuts. It's been reenacted in a couple movies. But it was hilarious.

So I'm watching this 2nd part obviously after watching the first, and have had tears of laughter .. not just the interview & Elvis made me giggle, it's your reaction 😂 You sit there calmly on every reaction you do but your eyes always are warm, or amused. I'm from the UK & am used to our ways & you're the epitome of a UK reactor which in my eyes, makes you so refreshingly genuine. Yep, I watched other reactors before & they're usually from the US ( no disrespect to the US lol) .. but they're so loud, arms flapping around & OTT (that's before they even start playing the recording) I honestly have grabbed the remote, said aloud stfu & clicked 'em off ( don't get me started with Poke salad Annie, they usually say "Pork not Poke") & when he does the deep throat mic job, they don't get it, they either just sit there without laughing or saying anything or just think he's being funny but have no conception of what he's actually doing! Bless 'em though.
The video itself was hilarious, he really was a character.
Anyway thank you for your laid back approach and please keep on reacting Rory 🙂

if you're interested there is actually a movie called Elvis and Nixon starring Michael Shannon as Elvis that tells the story of this encounter
it is hilarious and i highly recommend checking it out
it's pretty factual w/ a few dramatizations but seriously a good time!
love Jerry Schilling he's the only remaining memphis mafia still alive today as well as being one of e's closest friends
he still lives in the home e bought for him in Calif and has had an incredible life and career outside of Elvis.. managing the beach boys is just one part of his story ~
    thanks Rory ♡

Absolutely fantastic! I think Schilling is one of the very few, if not the only one, who is totally believable in everything he said, over & above any of Elvis' other "insiders." He is totally believable, sincere & a very nice man. I may have mentioned this but i'll say again that underneath Elvis' jacket is the top he wore on stage in 1969 Las Vegas. Can't imagine why he would wear that but a little piece of it can be seen in one of the phots that were taken (not really visible here). Thx so much.

Elvis jealous of the Beatles? They were initially speechless when they met. As much as I love the Beatles, they didn’t make 29 profitable movies. He liked and recorded some of their music. Elvis was feeling stuck in his movie contracts, so maybe envied their freedom. In 1968 he blew the world away again. Paul said he was “one of the coolest people ever.”.

Yeah I think they was referring to the fame the Beatles had at the time, they were the new thing that took his shine, he’d become the old, I think that’s natural for any human to feel

I imagine passing envy would be more realistic. At the time they met, I know I was a huge Beatles fan. All he had to do was walk down to the gate at Graceland to be reassured. Smartest thing he ever did was believe in Steve Binder for the 1968 special. Thanks again for sharing!

Rory.. Elvis did meet the Beatles...They wanted to meet him so he okay it..When the Beatles got to his house they were so star struck they just kept staring at Elvis... Elvis asked them if your not going to talk why did u want to see me?? So Elvis said" Well lets just jam". This was told by one of his body guards...

    • @Roryreacts
      @Roryreacts  5 месяцев назад

Yeah see in the Beatles anthologies, it was John who said they jammed with Elvis, and all the others said John made that up
Although now I’m older as great as the anthologies is, it does seem like Lennon gets attacked by the others a few times, especially Paul.
And John wasn’t around to defend himself

Elvis started using drugs in the army back in 1958.
    Check this out
In 1970 Elvis writes to President Nixon (the I am not a crook guy) and offers his services to help combat illicit drug use in the USA.
Elvis mentioned that he knew a lot about drugs and was accepted by the hippies.
He said he could go right into a group of young people or hippies and be accepted which he felt could be helpful to him in his drug drive.
Nixon and Elvis exchanged pleasantries and agreed that “those who use drugs are in the vanguard of American protest.”
In 1977 Elvis dies of drug overdose and drug abuse.
Putting Elvis in charge of speaking on narcotic abuse is like leaving Dracula in charge of the blood bank.
Hypocrisy: What is an example of hypocrisy?
People who tell you not to eat candy while they chomp away on candy all day.
