I really don’t get why people can’t find a single thing to like about this musical so much talent is packed in, in one single production so much emotion and incredible acting stands, the numbers are incredible and the actors are absolutely GOLD. This musical is incredibly underrated.
Here disappointment, the hate, anger and the fear she reflects in this one song is amazing. If I would have a chance to see them perform this live, I would go in a heartbeat.
I think they got the scenes between the Whites right; the hysteria, darkness, tension, and obsessive love. Margaret’s songs are PERFECT for her character. The lack of focus on Carrie’s abilities and the hell she was enduring in school did not help. Watch Wait in the Wings video on the original production of Carrie. It’ll enlighten you to what went wrong and just how wrong it went. Whew!!!!!
@@lonellfletcher that was on the original musical though. The revival isn’t perfect but it’s probably the closest we’ll ever get to that original vision
i can’t stop watching this video. Marin Mazzie’s facial expressions terrify me, and that’s what i love most about this story: the “normal people” are scarier than Carrie’s powers. these two women are truly legendary.
the idea with margaret (Which is consistent with the book, Movies and play) is that she's a religious fanatic, someone who is obsessed with the idea of jesus and purity. Carrie on the other hand is obsessed with being normal and wants to be treated more like a normal kid and less like an outcast. Margaret believes that Carrie's late arriving puberty and menstrual symptoms are a result of Eve having committed the original sin (as stated in genesis and in the song "and Eve was weak") this song is at the tail end of act 1 and shows that Carrie is ready to openly and directly use her powers in front of everyone who crosses her path. she's done with everyone's stupid bullshit and sick of her mother forcing her beliefs onto her. this song also serves as exposition into Carrie's existence as in the book and all 3 movies, margaret explains that Carrie exists and is the way she is because Ralph White (Her father) forced himself onto Margaret after she demanded a sexless marriage and because Maragret believed that she and ralph were living in sin, that's the reason carrie has these "Devil powers." it really shows how Margaret thought she could trust the boys around her and is scared that Tommy Ross (Carrie's date and Sue's boyfriend) is going to do to her what happened to Margaret all those years ago.
I'm living for how Carrie casually sits down to supper after scaring the living piss out of her mother and asserting her new power over the household. QUEEN!!!!!!
I love this musical. It knows what it is, campy and silly at times yet full of real emotion. It makes me sad that every disregards it when music like this exists!
This sound so awesome! But what I really like, is at the end, Carrie is like: Fuck off, Momma! I'm gonna eat my pie now!... like you told me to do at the beginning, but fuck off!
in the mexican production she even says "let's have dinner" then Margaret looks to the audience breaking the 4th wall ending the first act awkwardly funny
god I love these two,, I know a lot of people really obsess over Keaton Whittaker's performance, with good reason, but Molly truly was a great Carrie ❤️
Its not on Broadway. Also why don't you give it a chance instead of judging it on first sight. This is an amazing stage adaptation of one of King's best novels with some excellent music and fabulous acting.
@@cucckles I am trying to say the 1988 production premiered on Broadway, and ended as a broadway flop. Carrie 2014 was an Off Broadway production that never transferred to Broadway. The productions mostly have some of the same songs.

Marin is freaking amazing
I honestly think that Marin Mazzie played the best role of Margret White.
Shame we'll never see a pairing of Marin Mazzie and Keaton Whittaker on stage. Wouldn't that be just perfect?
Betty Buckley was a better singer but Ms. Mazzie was a better actress
@@sajaosman9697 Depends on whether you like a fuller more operatic tone (like Mazzie) or one that is more suited for Broadway (Buckley).
What a breathtaking performance two consummate pros so present beautifully orchestrated and performed. Marin's voice so moving and convincing.

Seriously...It's almost impossible to make a profit off a theater show anyway...this is just art. If you don't like it then ignore it.
This is my favorite song from this play , The talent is off the frikkin charts

"Kick-Ass" and "Let Me In", which I think is a role closer to Carrie
Chloe Grace Moretz played Carrie and was also in those films
This true doe
I have to ask, Where’s the rest of it? In the soundtrack there’s a whole first half.
