Well now, a Christmas release? How'd you know we needed it

They say giving is more rewarding than receiving. If you really do need it you'll have to build it a lot bigger to run something like a refrigerator. I better get to work on larger more efficient design. 😉

Love your work!! Any other soft glass tutorials would be great too! Thanks. Maggie

Hey Maggie, I've only done 2 videos in soft glass. Sampling soft glass: (ruclips.net/video/hfCCwSlV9qY/видео.html)
Recycling an ashtray into rods: (ruclips.net/video/iLKPfHbvfMU/видео.html).
It does melt similar to borosilicate, however more temperamental to heat stress. I'll make a note to get more soft glass videos produced, thank you for watching!

Thanks Zac! I felt the video as a whole went well, but the views could of been better. It did give me an idea for a spin-off which should be more entertaining: Electro-Smash. I hope next year is epic for you as well! 2022 here we come!

Interesting, my hobbies also include glasswork and electronics/magnetics. I'm experimenting with building a battery that recharges by sitting on a permanent magnet.

Glass steam engine two power it

I've thought about it. To make interlocking parts by hand would be difficult. I might need to use cold working drills and grinders to fabricate gears and such. Thanks for watching and commenting, happy new year!

Can you tell me what brand your glass saw is and what is that scoring tool for snapping glass? I'm very interested in a wet saw that cuts glass tubing. You saw does a good job.

Certainly, it's a 7 inch Skil wet saw (model# 3540-02). I chose it for its affordability, only $85. I also replaced the factory blade with a thinner one marketed for glass.
The scoring tool is a basic tungsten carbide edge tool ( www.mountainglass.com/Tungsten-Carbide-Scoring-Knife ) It takes some practice to get clean snaps.
I've got a video on both tools, let me know if you have any questions and don't forget to subscribe.

Thanks for the links and information and taking time to write. It's sure fun to imagine making things when you have a way to be creative.
      Just out of curiosity
I was wondering if you know where I might find a 3/4 inch diameter borosilicate tube bent in a tight radius in the shape of the letter J? It's hard to bend 180s without deforming the tube. I've seen U tubes but with a wide radius.
      Thanks again for the links.

I saw an item on eBay called Speedy Sharp which I believe is the same carbide tool. The price was about the same $12.95 on eBay and free shipping. If you buy another you might try eBay. I am looking forward to using all the fused quartz tubing I have, it's nice not having to worry about thermal stress with quartz. Thanks again for the tips, with smaller tubing the knife will be a time saver with practice.
"Originally designed as a knife sharpener, the Speedy Sharp is the best kept secret of glass artists for scoring and breaking glass rods and tubes. This off-label use has produced fantastic results time after time. The tungsten carbide blade features 2 edges, doubling the life, even under heavy use. "

Aside from the "Speedy Sharp Carbide Sharpener" if you type those exact words on eBay, for $12.95 and free shipping, I saw this other fancier device here at the 3:15 mark.

There's also this glass tubing cutter that has an advantage of cutting a straight line scratch. EBay has them for about 8 or 9 dollars. They have a typical tiny carbide wheel like a typical sheet glass cutter but in a V-shaped device that holds the tubing so that you can rotate the tubing like those pvc tubing cutters.
