I put my last video back up since some folks think Thrustmaster told me to take it down. 😂 I hope you all understand, I don't need products sent to me. If it's something I am interested in, I will accept it, but will always be truthful in my reviews. The last video was before I updated the firmware. I wanted to be informative on how I felt after updating it. Here is the last video for those interested. No, Thrustmaster didn't ask me to take it down. ruclips.net/video/krnOBIILlp8/видео.html
It's funny because I was looking for the previous video on my watch later list and I tried finding it on your channel, and I thought I was going crazy when I couldn't find it lol. We appreciate your honest reviews :)
I'm still a few months away from being ready to buy, but this is really encouraging for the T598 - I'm interested to see if there's a further improvement when it's recognised on GT7 in its own right.
I made the update and had no expectations in terms of force feedback. Thought it was just for the oscillation in menus. But something has changed yeah...some days before the update I was tweaking my settings for the wheelbase and in game. I thought I found a good allround setting but recognized that it depends heavily on the car...so I was constantly switching between in game torque settings 2 - 4 and Wheelbase Mode E and P. So today I wanted to find settings for gr.4 cars. And I could feel more weight and was able to catch the car better when it began to slip. It felt definitely different than the other day. I thought it had to do with the gr.4 cars but then I hopped into a few cars from the first session. And they feel different. Definitely better. Hard to define but the inertia settings does something. I changed friction from low/mid to off and inertia to mid and cranked up some other settings that I had reduced before. Just give this wheel time and some more updates.
@thecasualracinggamer It's too noticeable, it's not only a little placebo effect. Not night and day but noticeable. I'm curious if it also improves other games like ACC on ps5, this was really bad tbh. Here are my settings for GT7: Ingame Vibration 75 Steering Sensitivity 6 Torque 3 Feedback Sensitivity 1. Wheel Base FFB 3 Master 100 Mode E Inertia Mid Friction off BLow+2 BHigh+1 Speed Ext Damper 0% Spring - don't change it! The game submits the right setting (in my case between 0 and 15%) Gear Jolt Mid End Stop Mid.
Awesome brother so happy you got the firmware update the 2.6 update is when I started feeling more comfortable with recommending the T598 over the T-GT II.
@thecasualracinggamer it definitely feels much better I noticed it as I was doing my T598 vs T-GT II video going back to the T-GT II after a month on the T598 was awkward
@@frogboyx1Gaming unfortunately GT7 just doesn't have very good FFB.. not to say it isnt fun but in terms of dynamic range and infomation being given through the ffb it just isnt great.. its a real shame AMS2 isnt gonna be ported to console as thats a sim that would do very well on console but is forgiving enough compared to say LMU that a lot of people coming from GT would get on with it fairly quickly if you end up trying AMS2 defo try some of the custom ffb files.. the one gamer muscle did a video on that reduces the ffb to the pure signal coming from the steering rack has made hell of a change for me
Thanks for the update and look forward to further reports. As I've said, I'm waiting for the base only option but my confidence is growing again 👍 Have you tried the gear clunck setting yet (I may have missed you talking about it), as people say that puts a satisfying vibration through the wheel and rig?
So glad you tried the new update. Yeah i definitely noticed the difference from 1.98. Also not sure if this was present before, but under heavy breaking, im feeling some bumping on mine near the end of the breaking, like the tires are skipping on the assphalt. Reminded me of my srt4 in my college years. Loving it!
Your previous remarks gave me pause about buying it but recently I decided to jump in anyway....if it only weren't out of stock all the time in the UK :D Possibly by the time it will be in stock they might offer base only.
This wheelbase has a big diameter at only 5 nm. Why do we assume they can follow up with a higher torque version that isn't any wider? I also hear that they tend to get hot.
It's a good point, but why would they jump to new tech that has no room to grow from here and already maxed out? That would be one strange move if they didn't plan to grow on this tech. I hope upping the power doesn't mean upping the size because they have to realize the size and design is probably one the most hated things about the wheel.
I have a T-GT2 paired with the F1000 F1 wheel and I’m very happy with this I think I will wait for full compatibility with GT7 to see if the T598 is better. Thanks for the review
I don't necessarily think it will get better than a T-GT II. It will be a different experience. Offers a different feeling. It's not as powerful, but at least now there feels like there is resistance and weight to the wheel, making it a more enjoyable experience than before.
I'm still not sold on the 598 and will be sticking with tgt2 until they come out with something more.tgt2 is fine for now and that's an understatement. Just wanted to say thank you for taking time for us.
Yeah. I don't see a reason to dump the T-GT II for it. The T-GT II offers an amazing experience, especially in GT7. If they released the T598 as an 8nm wheelbase, then I think we would have a clear winner to choose here.
Glad the update has improved it Cas, agree the base should be sold separately straight away. Still not enough out there to say its worth the jump from the tgtii though. Why thrustmaster can't add console support for the t818 ill never know, it has 10NM.
its 10nm sustained so it should peak at at least 12nm.. i wonder if its to do with the inability to change many setting from on the base? or they just didnt think their would be a big enough market to justify the licensing? or you will get a console release once they nail down the t598 so they have a proper range on console?.. who knows but they defo lost out to logitech in the console market
@awakeandwatching953 well they have gone from competing with fanatec with the tgtii to jumping in at entry level where logitec where and now Logitec DD is twice the price. I'm hoping this is the upgrade for the t300RS and a second level T818 is on the way to replace the tgtii. It could be that they are developing one with the newer tech of the t598 as 818 is standard DD tech 🤞
I'll stick with my tgt any day its got just the right amount of power and the defuser makes it the best wheel I've tried to date, stay with the tgt much better l reckon👍🙂🚘🚖
There is no reason to switch from a T-GT II to a T598 unless there is something you didn't like about it. For any lower end wheel, without a doubt the T598 will be an upgrade and I can say that with more confidence now after the update.
Very informative video, I have a lot of questions about this model. I don't know if you've ever used the T300rs GT, would it be a good option to exchange my T300rs GT for the T598? Its price is very attractive, but I need to be careful with my spending lol. Regards.
I've used a T300. It overheated. Couldn't actually use it to its full potential because of that. Returned it in a week. I think the T598 would be an upgrade.
Hi It's definitely an upgrade. I drove the t300 for 2.5 years and thought it was great. But the t598 is a big leap. It's not incredibly strong, but the force feedback is so fine and pointed. simply great!
Thrustmaster page should show which wheels the adapter supports. Honestly, the T-GT II is kind of small. I think folks would enjoy using a larger wheel.
Is anybody else having issues updating tbe firmware? When i power the base back up after engaging boot mode my laptop isnt picking up the wheelbase. Tried numerous usb ports and both the Thrustmaster Panel and thr driver method. Anybody got any workarounds?
@thecasualracinggamer thanks for the quick reply. I have literally just done it via the Firmware Updater programme. its gonna be positioned as their primary base so support should be good.. i do wonder if that bases tech can do far more than this version shows.. like will we get a 10nm base thats the same size with bigger psu and more cooling.. they cant scale it up because it would get to big which makes me thing the servo is actually more powerful.. kind of like how higher end wheel bases like the asatek range are all the same size with just slightly different components and the toque level artificialy limited in the lower end bases compared to their 27nm monster
