I know this movie waa actually THE MOST annoying movie I have ever seen. What little man syndrome gets more angry about playing a game to prove his worthiness vs coming home to find out his brother took his gf. Lol righttttt
"You're five feet nothin'... A hundred and nothin'... And you got hardly a speck of athletic ability. And you hung in with the best college team in the land for two years! And you're also gonna walk outta here with a degree from the University of Notre Dame. In this lifetime, you don't have to prove nothin' to nobody, except yourself."
This is my favorite scene, next to the game ending scene that follows. It sums up for me my challenges I had to face in life.. I wished I had a mentor like this, I would love to be the mentor this guy had! God bless you Rudy.

Black Lives Matter NEEDS to watch this video snippet. But I guarantee you the ranch that they won't. Because it speaks the TRUTH!!!
The greatness of this movie is on a different level than almost every other sports movie Sean was a great lead but Dutton, Favreau, and Beatty are just amazing and they make the movie special beyond words
I like all the scenes with Rudy and Fortune. One of the most underrated in my opinion is when Rudy stops by to return Fortune the key and Fortune tells Rudy for the umpteenth time, "I don't know anything about it." Rudy says something about stopping by every once in a while just to bug him and then reminds him of his promise to come to the game if he finally gets to dress. As Rudy's walking away he tells him. "If you ever dress for a game, I'll be there."
We all need a friend like this custodian. Someone who is Not our relative or connected to us in any real way. An objective view of ourselves from someone outside our intimate realm. Great lesson here about LISTENING, but also about MENTORING. They both require--- CARING. May I never fall victim of NOT Caring. That is my wish and prayer this day.
Such a great film and actors. When it came out in theaters, I came out a bit teary eyed, but mostly inspired. As most of us did I'm sure. Charles S Dutton. Who remembers R.O.C.?? Loved him in it
That’s ok. Don’t beat yourself up. I haven’t had that push either from family and especially parents. Having narcissistic parents it’s pretty tough to have that push. Here’s the thing I learned. It doesn’t matter, it’s in the past. You know what you’re capable of. If you know what you want, YOU MAKE IT HAPPEN. I can blame my parents and siblings and how I was raised all I want. Yeah I’ve quit jobs, sports(high school days) relationships. Oh well, it doesn’t mean I’ll be a quitter all of my life. I’m not. I keep trying and trying and I get back up. Live in the now. Not the past or the future. Focus on today and what you are doing. Don’t beat yourself up. If that’s the worst thing you and me have done in this life...whoopty doo. What I mean is who cares???? There’s a lot more out there that’s messed up more than us and there’s so many that have done the same as us. We know what we are capable of. Keep moving forward. Things will be alright. I wish you all the best in 2020. And guess what? 2020 ain’t a bad year because of the pandemic. That’s an excuse people use to limit themselves. Look at your life right now with the pandemic and everything you have accomplished during this time. I know I don’t know you but I guarantee you’ve done some amazing things during the pandemic. They don’t even have to be big. So many times we think we have to solve the worlds problems or win the lottery or start some amazing goals. What if each day all you ever did was make someone new you met smile? Do you know how far that goes to a persons heart, their soul? Look at the little things that add up. Also, make yourself SMILE! You are the most important person in your life. You know what’s best and you can accomplish anything!!!! Fight on Whitney🤘🔥❤️You got this.
My favorite movie of all time. I don't even like Football. I love the character I can relate to his obstacles of struggling in school with a disability, and not having support from my family sometimes depending on what dreams I wanted to pursue.
I had the honor to meet Sean Astin last year at Comic Con and I told him that I was such a huge fan of this movie and still was a fan of this movie. He was awesome, he said Thank You and he gave me a Rudy poster Sign and personalized by him. Have it hanging on my wall. When we met him, people brought up Lord of the Rings and Goonies, I brought up Rudy. haha.
+The Roger -- Sean's scene when he opens and reads his acceptance letter (in front of Moreau Seminary) is a scene that I play over and over. His emotions are completely believable. I am moved every single time.
My dad William R. (Rudy) Evans Jr. was a Bench Warmer on his Highschool Football Team, known as the Wrens Cardinals in Jefferson County, Georgia. Sadly his Highschool and the Wrens Cardinals, no longer exist. Dad's Highschool was eventually Re-Named JCHS, which is short for Jefferson County High School Warriors.
@cavalierfan2008 awesome story. I too c myself in some small way as rudy. I think that is y it is so popular, we all in some way c ourselves as rudy!!!! I have been riding bicycles for 40yrs long distance. The other day i got to c the tour de france in real life!!!!. i can dream still
I really love this movie . But I do however have a real problem with this movie , and how they portrayed Coach Dan Devine . They portrayed Dan Devine as this terrible antagonist - a villain. But that picture hardly squares with the facts . In fact nothing could be further from the truth ! It was Dan Devine's very own idea to have Ruettiger ''dress'' for the game , and it was Dan Devine's very own idea to have Rudy play . That is the truth folks .
I see a lot of myself in Dutton's performance here. I am a musician from Texas and never auditioned for region band. I have been told that I was one of the most talented clarinetist that they have ever heard. I am a college student now and have taught on and off with kids and tell them a bit of my story. I just didn't care to audition because I felt like it was a joke. I regret that now and teach the kids to audition and have fun! yeah sure this is football not music but same goes.
In 1993 I had already entered the professional workforce. But I couldn't take the fact of what could of been. And like he said not a week passed by I didn't think of it. So I tried out for a low minor league baseball team single A. While going to work....lloll...9 to 5....lloll... Becuase I couldn't live with myself at that point to be honest of what might of been.... . Finally after a tough try out and spring I made the minor league team. I Sat the bench had a few at bats, few double plays , one home run almost....a few strike outs not goin to lie,...some nice plays. I was well on the road to displacing the starting second baseman ...or ?..forcing him to split time ......... When or then. I realized the company I was in till then my fearlessness had paved the way, till one day I looked and said to myself I can't do some of those things..that they are doing....and. then I saw the road ahead....would be life altering...it would require me leaving my job, and a very transient life, with no guarantees of elevating passed the low minors... I felt I had proven what I needed to prove to myself.....and ....it was settled ... and I returned the uniform washed to him said... thank you...and didn't return...the next day. And...lloll... returned to my professional... career, ...truth is I had fallen in love with engineering, and i loved my job...dearly...and loved making things...and it had replaced my love for the game...oddly enough... And after that or since then when it was settled. I could sleep at night the rest of my life....lloll....without any problems.
That's a lot of big talk coming from a non SEC team fan. The SEC has 6 BCS championships in a row no other conference can claim it. Half of them came from the state of Alabama. On the January 7th the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will become the Notre Lame Surrendering French. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!
Honestly, fuck ND. But this is an incredible film, for what it strives to be. I don't understand those who knock it. The scene with Dutton is as motivating and inspiring as it gets
My cousin was sent down from his ohl team I almost played net in the ohl until I found out my mother was diagnosed with Breast cancer I stayed by her side I know he has the talent a little trip in the farm team will help him become a better player I will have a kind word with him and help him out
What sucks is this is totally made up and this guy never existed. Would have been cool if he did. And he should have gotten an Oscar nominating for this. What a great actor.
Proabably the best scene in the movie. Dutton is such an underrated actor!
Sam Jackson's good but Dutton is brilliant!
Love watching Dutton. He's intense
Dutton is low key one of the greats
Totally agree. He is an incredible actor!
Bad Leroy Brown
Charles Dutton should have won the best Supporting Actor in this Film. He was fantastic!!
He should've!!!!
Big. Facts.
His role in The Sopranos and refusing Tony Soprano's bribes was even more awesome.
Yep!!!
100%
His reaction, that clap in those leather gloves at the very end is the absolute best moment for me. Power, emotion, empathy, release. Incredible.
The first time I watched this movie, it was one of only three times I ever teared up. Watching rudy will make grown men tear up
Dutton is a terrific actor, what presence and delivery. He made the movie
He's got a strength about him doesn't he. He's got a muscular way of delivering his lines with that "oomf!" factor.
Moral of the story... ....NEVER quit...Quitting means they win.
baubret who wins
baubret your oponent, fears, the people who doubted u
he literally quit the team during a point in the movie
True
We would all be blessed by a mentor such as the janitor who poured himself into a young man who needed to hear it
The janitor told Rudy a life time of wisdom
Rudy blown away that groundskeeper actually was a player.
I know this movie waa actually THE MOST annoying movie I have ever seen. What little man syndrome gets more angry about playing a game to prove his worthiness vs coming home to find out his brother took his gf. Lol righttttt

I know a player from ND and rewatching this, the seats we got are literally right in that section. What a beautiful sight

Let's just say...RUDY DID HIS DUTY!
One of the best sports movies ever made
Top 5
Now that speech was motivation love it
My Dad loved this movie. His Dads name was Rudy. I miss my Dad.
One of the best scenes ever!! So motivational.
Charles Dutton performance in this is really good...His "your 5 ft nothin..100 nothin" was epic..
Watch him in Alien 3 and Menace II Society. He's a gift to American films. He's brilliant.
I think about it almost everyday of my life lol.
it would be so awsome to have someone like the janitor around to give me a motivational speech when I need one
I'm here for you bro, just let me know.
Groundskeeper.
who doesn't...if you don't cry from this movie...at least shed a tear, I honestly think you wouldn't have a soul...but that is just me
Fortune was awesome in this movie.
True inspiration!
my favorite part is: "Since 1975 no other Notre Dame player has been carried off the filed."
What a brilliant fucking actor Charles Dutton is.

There are several Falasies in the Movie my friend. The Film makers felt the story needed more adversity

This video hit me hard years after I quit football after my freshman year of high school football
