Hey Mike, about time someone did Robert Cray some justice!!! You did a great job capturing his feel which is not easy to do. As you know he is a great rhythm player so his solos incorporate a lot of staccato and rhythmic ideas. I am lucky enough to know him personally because a friend of mine is very good friends with him. We get to hang out with him and the band whenever they are in town. I think you are 100% correct about him not sliding down to the E note. I’ve seen him play many times and I believe it’s all in position. Please do the world a favor and do more Robert Cray lessons. Right next door and smoking gun have excellent examples of his unique style. Best
I remember getting one of those plastic records in a guitar player magazine, back in the 70s, How to play like BB King. I wore it out which didn't take long. Love all these videos, thanks mate.
“Robert Cray Licks in A” - it’s a rap! Well, a rhyme anyway. Cheers for the lesson and chat, Mike. Have yourself a great gig - wish I could be there! 🎸👍
Very nice work there aren’t enough Robert Cray lessons out there in the world great job!!!
Thanks again for the great lesson. Wish I could watch you play in Dublin the 24th, good luck and enjoy your gig!
Hey Mike - feel free to chat as long as you want - I enjoy hearing your thoughts as much as your playing!
