Ruud van Nistelrooy scored his first ever Bundesliga goal in his Hamburger SV side’s away trip to VfB Stuttgart on 13th February 2010. He came on in the 65th minute and found the net just 10 minutes later to put HSV 2-1 in front. He wasn’t done there though: Van Nistelrooy then scored a second goal in the space of two minutes to wrap up a 3-1 win for the northern club - a brace in just his second Bundesliga game for Hamburg. The Dutchman scored a total of 12 goals in 36 top-flight matches for HSV in the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons.

I remember sitting there infront of my TV, watching the match with my dad. My dad was a big fan of him, and just as Van Nistelrooy came on, he said that Ruud was going to score. What happens next was just incredible!

I think Germans understimated his skills, they were so surprised when he scored 2 goals. They should show more respect to him and gave more chances to play. His best days were gone but he was not to throw away like they did to him.

Little side story for any v.Nistelrooy fans. Who was in goal for Stuttgart vs him in this game? His old nemesis Jens Lehmann, formerly of Arsenal. I would be very content with the same result for tomorrow's match between these sides. This was Ruud's first match with HSV (if you'd ignore a 92nd minute sub the game before against Koln). He came in and after 10 minutes he scored the 1:2 for HSV, and less than 90 seconds later he scored the 1:3. One of the memorable moments for me as HSV fan.
