Young movie fan Owen Donne joins me to discuss one of my favorite movies of all time, Alexander Payne's wonderfully sharp and cynical 1999 masterpiece, Election. This episode is sort of notorious in Staff Picks lore because this movie is a LOT dirtier than most people remember. And it was a LOT dirtier than my guest remembered it being, when he first pitched it to me. So after our recording was over, he asked me if we could remove some of the dirtier parts, because he wasn't comfortable with everything we had discussed. And I was like dude, if we had to remove the R-rated parts of Election, the movie would only be like twenty minutes long! So anyway, enjoy one of my most R-rated episodes of Staff Picks. About a movie that is absolutely one of the most vicious, cynical, hilarious comedies of the past thirty years. And, of course, yet another reason why I love Alexander Payne comedies so much. It's because they don't pull their punches. They go right for the throat.

Note #2: This is now my longest episode of Staff Picks, the final version is two and a half hours long. And that's after I cut out about twenty minutes of it. We really had a lot to say about this movie.
