Dear Carlos, As a kiwi who's lived on this tiny little Island in the south pacific my entire life I guess I just haven't thought about how much I take for granted. The ski slopes that are only a 4 hour drive away, the beautiful surf beaches that line our coasts or the seemingly endless forests and national parks were always just the norm for me. I never really understood how beautiful this country was, even when we saw tourists from all over going to the top of Mt Eden in awe of the "nature" and "wildlife" up there (Just some grass and a few birds.) So when I see someone who has come to this place and appreciates it as much as you have, it gives me a better appreciation of how beautiful it is and how lucky I am to have lived here all my life. It's Always incredible how foreigners can change our view on our very own country. I spended all my life in Paris and I was amazed by some tourist videos
Andre like the comment mate, but the North Island is 114 thousand square kms, its the 14th biggest island in world( the South Island is the 12th). Since there are thought to be around 11000 inhabited islands, the two main island of the country are far far from being "tiny little islands".
When we watch these kind of videos there two main fellings that we must express: 1) feeling depressed, because your life is not as cool as their lifes are 2) feeling inspired and encourage yourself to do the same and experience the best adventures. I choose option two.
Sometimes I wonder why tourists always are amazed by nz cause I’ve lived here all my life that I’ve just gotten used to all the beautiful scenery and endless beaches, this video really had me grateful for what I’ve taken for granted my whole life

kristen hess New Zealand is epic in making good memories for backpackers, beautiful and dramatic scenery, ease to travel, friendly people, and sheep, there is really nothing small about New Zealand other than land size.
Everywhere in NZ is good for hiking. Definitely visit Rotorua for the Maori culture, Geysers, and smoke everywhere. If you like Hiking look for information about Tongariro National Park :)

I just was on an exchange year in nz to be specific Tauranga and I miss it so much it became my home and it replaced my actual home Germany and I never felt so loved and encouraged as I did in New Zealand I’m returning to my home Tauranga in December for 3 weeks and watching this makes me realise how blessed I am having so many friends over there which I know about are for true and friends for a life time Thx for this beautiful video I’m so happy that I recognised most of these places

I have never been more inspired to go travel my own country. I live up north on the coast and it’s amazing to see how much NZ truely has to offer if you go out and explore it, this made my day. Absolutely true, I’m definitely planning to do this as soon as I can. It doesn’t cost anything to go and explore your country as long as you can get gas in your car that’s all you need really, opening your mind to find spots and hills to climb. The views of our country definitely make it all worth it 🙌🏽
@@sweetpicklesxx I'd like to know where they found that mining cart. I know in karangaheke gorge there are old mining tunnels. A massive one to explore and a lot of tracks to explore. Down in waitomo there is a free track near the waitomo caves where you can explore caves etc. Just doing the research is necessary. More so costs you time then anything

I’m from new Zealand but moved to UK when I was 8. We go back every other year but with COVID we can’t this year, then next year I have a-levels and life gets too busy. I really miss it so much, for the most vivid memory of NZ is the beautiful smell of the pahootadowa at Christmas and the pine Forrest by the beaches. Great vid!
Went to New Zealand 2 years ago now was able to be lucky enough to stay there for 4 months and watched this video before I left. The whole time I was there I was determined to find this and jump off that bridge. Mission accomplished. That is a place called Hokitikia Gorge for all those wondering. Disclaimer: The water is freezing cold and there is huge rocks in that water, jump at your own risk. But I traveled from Michigan in the United States and nothing was stopping me from jumping off that bridge.

@@Torandoa I take it you will be going to both Islands? Down in the South Island near Christchurch you will be about 60-90mins from the Southern Alps and 10-20mins from the beach. A trip I love from my city (Christchurch) is, Cave Stream (great for beginner cavers, only a torch needed) about a 90min drive, you should include a stop at both Castle Hill and Lake Lyndon, and there is also a great 1-2hr walk near Lake Lyndon which gives you great views of the lake and Alps. Also Christchurch city is now ahead of where is was before the earthquakes hit us, although you can still see the fallen Cathedral. The West Coast of the South Island is a must, Shantytown (although quite touristy) is an awesome place to visit, as are the two big glaciers - Fox and Franx Joseph. If you are into tramping and scenery, the Kepler track down in Fiordland is a requirement. And don't forget to take part in all the extreme sports we have to offer. Queenstown and Wanaka are a must see, as is Lake Tekapo. And all this is just a small amount of what the South Island has to offer. Hope you enjoy your stay here :).

New Zealand has a distinct culture and city life they they entirely excluded. I would argue that the urban part of NZ is just as interesting as the natural features but whatever people don’t seem to appreciate that

When I travelled to New Zealand we were on the South Island. So so so beautiful was able to go to Milford sound and kayak around. Also able to travel to many other small towns.

@@Torandoa I take it you will be going to both Islands? Down in the South Island near Christchurch you will be about 60-90mins from the Southern Alps and 10-20mins from the beach. A trip I love from my city (Christchurch) is, Cave Stream (great for beginner cavers, only a torch needed) about a 90min drive, you should include a stop at both Castle Hill and Lake Lyndon, and there is also a great 1-2hr walk near Lake Lyndon which gives you great views of the lake and Alps. Also Christchurch city is now ahead of where is was before the earthquakes hit us, although you can still see the fallen Cathedral. The West Coast of the South Island is a must, Shantytown (although quite touristy) is an awesome place to visit, as are the two big glaciers - Fox and Franx Joseph. If you are into tramping and scenery, the Kepler track down in Fiordland is a requirement. And don't forget to take part in all the extreme sports we have to offer. Queenstown and Wanaka are a must see, as is Lake Tekapo. And all this is just a small amount of what the South Island has to offer. Hope you enjoy your stay here :).

wow it’s so weird seeing your own country in a whole new light, living in NZ my whole life I guess I’m just used to all the beautiful greenery and stunning places but this has made me realise how much I’ve taken for granted, I’m going to go explore now :)

New Zealand has a distinct culture and city life they they entirely excluded. I would argue that the urban part of NZ is just as interesting as the natural features but whatever people don’t seem to appreciate that

You mean Auckland known for being utterly boring or Windy Welly functioning for two days a week? Or maybe the ultimate tourist trap called Queenstown? ;) I loved it there but come on, it's not very special city-wise.

When I travelled to New Zealand we were on the South Island. So so so beautiful was able to go to Milford sound and kayak around. Also able to travel to many other small towns.
