I want to see it but the teen girl was racist, making fun of the white parents. Heck, if I were an orphan and a starving homeless , I'd be happy to be adopted by anyone regardless of their race.

I saw it today, and growing up in that system (I was in foster homes/state homes from 7-18) I find the film the closest thing to the tragic reality of "institutionalized children" which is where I relate the most to Lizzy. At 22, I was still the in the"foster child" mindset, because I never had a home, I merely existed. Childhood should be a happy period, not one of struggle, anger and disappointment, which is what I faced. Thankfully, I met someone who has shown me love, acceptance, and I'd do ANYTHING in the world for him, because in my eyes, he's the father I wanted, but never had. THAT is what saved me from myself. If it weren't for Steve, I'd either be dead or in prison for, no lie. God works miracles in ways we'll never know... Thank you for this beautiful movie. It hits home, and riveted me, because of what I've been through, and LOVE is more powerful than ANY weapon. I'm glad this was something I not only watched, but understood. I pray this comment reaches those who can relate also....
Been there hon. I was in the system from 13-14, I've met a lot of people who were in it for half their lives so I feel like I got lucky.

Wonderful movie, they handled the topic of adoption extremely well. Not only was it heart warming it was also hilarious!!! Mixing comedy with adoption is hard to do but they KILLED IT!!💖💖💖💖

The movie was very predictable. Some of the scenes you scratched your head and thought "that added nothing nor was it funny." (the anonymous neighbor wanting a hug then offering pie, the boy stepping on glass), The premise meant you expected an emotional rollercoaster: You mix in sad siblings with an older teenage "momma hen" in foster care and a potential for adoption and there's potential for sadness/tears/joy. The movie tried too hard to be funny at times when it didn't work. I say 3 out of 5 might be a bit generous, but hey, it's the holiday season!
It might have been a wee bit predictable but in my opinion that doesn't matter if it's executed well. Which it was, and how. Superbly directed with creative camera shots and transitions, brilliant performances all around (including character actress Margo Martindale) with highly lovable/realistic characters , and it was also soooooooooooooooooooo gosh darn hilarious.
