Spring may have been the correct answer for the rose pruning question, but winter should have been accepted. Since the plants are dormant, the plants aren't developing like they do in the other seasons, the flowers bloom on new growth from the following season, and since you prune above the ground, even if there's a little bit of snow, you can still prune them, weather permitting.
And again, I wonder if the multiple uses of the $1 Whammy Bill inspired the creation of the Whammy-Out Whammies (the first of which comes in a few months).
For the second time in two episodes, a contestant with a very low total passes to Mike, but he wins a valuable prize and finishes with a total very close to $13,000. Also, Mike passes to the contestant in first position right before that person hits a whammy, prompting Peter to ask if he knew the whammy was coming--just like a certain other Mike four episodes earlier.

Good. Serves him right for sticking swords in bulls
What a week CBS had that week, they gave away a total of over $168,000 including Larson's win.
And retired THREE champions all within that week, at that!
What I noticed is that the last three digits in Mike’s grand total is $237. That’s exactly $84K less of Larson’s winnings.
