One guy said this morning that thru the course of the season teams are going to find its hard to fly across the country and win at Washington. A tough gritty win that will build confidence and grit for the illini.
Two big wins on the west coast, now on Wed they have to get the Penn St monkey off their back, don't let this one slip away. Penn St has had the Illini's # for a long time. Pull of a Bears against Packers win.
The one issue, ok maybe two. When we were losing momentum he left Dre on the bench. And if you were going to argue that that’s not possible because you wouldn’t take out one of the three guards, then put white down at the four. Or bring in Johnson who has a much better per 40 performance then does Ben. Basically too much Ben…again.
Ben is an incredibly effective floor spacer. If he doesn’t keep his man pinned to him due to his potential 3-pt shooting, the lane isn’t as open as it has been for KJ and Kylan to drive and create. The reason we’re so effective on the break and in half court sets is how versatile and spaced we are. Hummer is also 36.5% from 3 coming off a freaking 10 game slump. As great as Morez is, especially on the block and on weak side help D, he can’t space and shoot the way Ben can.
@ it doesn’t say much for your coaching, if you can drawn an offense that keep your five best on the floor. His spacing does not make up for his lack of rebounding and his lack of points. That’s not how it works. When you’ve lost Derek Piper on this, who was just writing an articles about how Johnson needs to play more, you know you’re making a mistake. The fact that we’ve had some pretty good leads and lost three games this year and it’s been the same equation and all three tells you that he is not getting the right people on the floor.
I trust Underwood to coach the team more than I trust you or Piper (and I appreciate Piper’s insights quite a bit). Two of the games they lost were to substantially higher ranked opponents, one at the number 7 team and then at the buzzer to the number 1 team in the country. They lost to Northwestern in overtime. They are an extremely young team who have had about 6 months to play together. They’re vastly exceeding pre-season expectations. Hummer is clearly a big part of that. If you think you would have this team ranked higher than 7 in the Net currently and (probably) top 10-15 in the country when the next AP poll comes out, you’re wrong. I also assume you’re one of the people that insisted we needed to play Will Riley instead of Trey White. Sometimes transfers need time to adjust. Sometimes fans can stop being critical and enjoy what a spectacular season we’re having.
A w is a w!! We will take the win.
Illinois got two wins on the road. Ill
Anybroad win in the BigTen is huge. It isbjustbsobtough on the road, add in the travel with staying out there, I'll take it. A W is a W, is a Win,

I was at the game and the so called quiet crowd got raucous the last few minutes
That Davis kid is a pure shooter. He single handedly almost won the game for them.
Great team
