We always wanted to create an ultra-realistic library of Studio Violins with an emphasis on Disco and Pop writing. A library so deep would essentially cover all our needs for rhythmic string writing. 18 months and 33,000 samples later, our dream is now a reality!
Introducing Disco Studio Strings UDS™. A new generation of live-sounding Studio Strings, exclusively recorded and designed for Soundpaint. The library features a hand-picked ensemble of 7 master violinists. All with prior experience playing on top Disco & Pop albums.
The library covers all articulations needed for completely realistic string writing. True polyphonic and acrobatic run-building legatos. Every possible short- and long note we would ever need. But equally important deep variety of new ornamental articulations featuring thousands of playable ornaments. The end result is an articulation matrix, which is both fast and intuitive but virtually covers all needs for hyper-realistic studio strings. Indistinguishable from the real deal.
Disco Studio Strings UDS™ was recorded in a uniquely warm and 100% wooden vintage studio. We used three iconic vintage microphones: Neumann U47s, Royers 121-S and AKG 414s. The sound is rich and volumetric, while still being intimate and warm. Think Jamiroquai's "Virtual Insanity", Abba's "Dancing Queen" and Bee Gee's "Stayin' Alive".
Disco Strings UDS™ is more than just a disco library. Whether you're composing for Film, Pop, Hip-Hop, Funk, Soul, RnB, Classical, Jazz, House or EDM. Disco Strings UDS™ offers the flexibility and depth required for any studio recording. Its lush and dynamic tones make it an essential tool for modern composers and producers looking to add a unique and rich string element to their music.
Join the disco revolution with Disco Strings UDS™ and make your string arrangements shimmer with the vibrancy of the disco era. Get ready to dance and let the music play!

Sounds fantastic. I hear some Electric Light Orchestra in there, too. Of course, they had a disco phase, so that makes sense.
Ah! A fellow ELO fan! I wanna hear what the Next Train to London would sound like! Cheers, Troels
AWEOSME Finally For those of us who are Disco Strings lovers, after so much time, a company that listened to our request

I can only agree!
This library (and the articulation tech) is simply ridiculous. So stoked to work with this. Thanks for all the effort you took to make a special tool; for not just genre, but also creative expression and experimentation. 👏👏
Thank you so much for this comment Sub-Jec-Tiv . This library is a pure joy to work with - and it all goes back to the initial sessions, which were joyous and bubbly. It felt electric and through all the stages of development this energy has been preserved. Its like an artisan that carefully chooses what wood to use - what tools to use to shape the wood - then shaping the wood into an instrument. Delicately carving ornaments to both inspire and improve the sound. Love in all stages of development. It shows in the end. Cheers, T
I haven't been excited for a string library in a good minute. I think the last time I was this excited for a string library was Adagio. I really hope you guys make a lower string version of this. This sounds wonderful and it covers pretty much everything I complain about
Its already in production - and we hear you loud and clear. Just wait till you see what we got in store for later in the year. This is the first out of many in this new direction of raw realism - and all immediately playable and rewarding. No lag. No latency. Cheers, T
I'm excited
Me too
@@Soundpaintmusic Yes additional Low Strings would be perfect
So much more than disco. Studio Strings is about right. I think I'm gonna be throwing these on everything!
Good point. Its equally powerful for Pop, Hip-Hop as it is for Disco, RnB, Soul, Funk, Nu-Disco. Modern vintage.

DISCO STRINGS trigger so much for me that it hardly fits a YT comment:
I am happy to be incarnated at the right time! [Born 1959] So as a boy I was able to experience the inventions of the music styles of the 70s [Hippie, Psychedelic, Rock, Progressive Rock, Funk, Fusion, Jazzrock, Disco, Soul etc.] Also my first sex 😅 was with disco music (or was it music/albums of Alan Parsons?).
And now I still live to be able to experience the new DISCO revolution in sampling, music production, right up to spatial audio, especially through your fantastic, human and emotional developments: SOUNDPAINT just in the best sense of the word!
🙏🏻 Thank you for your commitment, enthusiasm and love for music !
This is both: universal - timeless, as well as innovative and new!
😎Werner (Allgäu Germany)
[My little thank you + feedback on you: My 1st package of my 🚩USER PROGRAMS should have arrived by email! I hope the Dropbox links are working well!]
Thank you the colorful back story Gruber. We laughed reading it and this is the sorta stuff that makes it all worthwhile from a development perspective. To inspire and bring people back to good times - and hopefully create new ones too. Cheers, Troels 🍻
I am literally holding off buying anything tomorrow including food until I get this new instrument ✨🕺🏻🎻 🎻 🎻 🕺🏻✨
Now THATS commitment! But grab a bite, so you are fueled for when it comes time to release!
The strings I have been waiting all my life for…
And they've been waiting for you their whole life too!
@@Soundpaintmusic Always been a fan since 8Dio. Soundpaint is the future!
Undoubtedly my best purchase of the year. This is clearly a labour of love. I hope that you'll create more libraries inspired by this golden age of pop/disco/fusion.
Waited for this for so long! Incredible authentic library!
Perfectly explained and fun to watch! Great Library with so much soul and depth. Excellent 😊
I'm the one who wrote on your IG ad last week cause I thought it would be out the 23rd. Well, it was worth the extra week wait... this sounds absolutely astounding. Finally I won't have to layer 6 different string companies to get the pop/disco sound I'm always looking for. What an incredible job, if you can't tell yet, I'm so happy you created this... thank you, thank you, thank you! I shouldn't tell you that I would have paid wayyyy more than $99 for this! Congrats Troels on an incredible library... and btw no need to apologize for your enthusiasm in the video, I love the passion, and it's clearly what helped drive you to put together such an amazing library. Can't wait to use it in productions!
Thanks Eric! I agree that my needs for Studio Violins is finally covered. To me its all about having energy and realism in studio strings, something which often feels a bit more flat and crumbling with previous generations of libraries. We spent a great amount of time/resources/recording time on ensuring we really got that life in the samples - and that they are fully and rewardingly playable. Tawnia and I did discuss the price and we know we could've charged more. But Soundpaint to us is the democratization of samples. We want everyone being able to have the best possible tools for the most affordable price - and that is our long term strategy and loving goal with Soundpaint. Thanks for noticing it and supporting us. Much love, Troels
@@Soundpaintmusic Yes that energy is so crucial... and you did a great job of capturing it. As for price - thanks for the admirable long term vision, I totally agree. "The democratization of samples" is a great phrase... you have my vote 🙂
I just found this video but i am so excited. I have been looking for the ultimate disc strings and now it iw here!
Thanks Alsoul! I was looking for it too - only to realize it didn't exist ... until now! Cheers, Troels
Brilliant!!
Thx Bass!
I just finished watching the video featuring the Disco Strings, and I must say, it is incredibly well-made! The production quality is top-notch, and the explanations provided are clear and highly informative. The Disco Strings themselves are phenomenal - they capture that classic sound perfectly and offer such versatility! As a dedicated Soundpaint fan, I am definitely going to purchase them. Kudos to the team for consistently delivering such outstanding products. Keep up the fantastic work!
Thank you Broadcast! It really means a lot to receive feedback like this, since we really try to go the extra mile with releases like this to ensure we don't have to do it again. Its many years of work counting everyones efforts, so appreciate your kindness and support.
that bass sound is killer!
: )))))
Supremo! Can't wait to to use Disco Strings in my songs. Great video!
Thanks so much - and don't just think of it in context to Disco. This is full on studio strings - but alive and with a notable human element in every note.
Troels, it has been wonderful to follow along on this revolutionary Soundpaint journey -- and to enjoy the results. Every new release is a genuine advance in creative expression, and this is no exception. Your enthusiasm is as justified as it is contagious. Thanks to you and your brilliant team for another gem. Can't wait to add it to my palette.
THIS IS GREAT!!
I just noticed that this "Disco" library will be AWESOME for 'ostinato' in many instances. Orchestral purists may have something to say about that (something about some articulation, here/there etc.). But for most musical purposes, Soundpaint's round robins will make things way more musical (expressivity) than some of the best string ostinato libraries I own (because I can PLAY those figures exactly as I feel them). If nothing else, "Disco Strings" will layer nicely with other string libraries (especially with the flexibility of Soundpaint at one's fingertips!! 🙂❤
Yeah. I feel one of the unique highlights of this library is its ability to recreate truly realistic sounding ostinatos, runs and essentially cover those acrobatic styles of fast writing. Traditional sample libraries tend to be better at softer/slower style of writing, but I found we had to develop both new sampling/recording techniques and build new technologies around them to really facilitate these faster styles of writing. Cheers, Troels
Wow , A must have , I think !
Thanks Rob. This one is special.
I love supporting this company y’all never miss!
Bought it after 5 minutes 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you Harry! Can't wait to hear what you make with it! Cheers, T
Wonderful!!!!! Amazing! :D
This is super great ! 😊
Awwww!
Very well done. A divisi option when playing chords would be perfect, and more dynymic range. I can understand the energy argument, but it´s very important to have this.
Appreciate a lot the dry sound on short notes 😊
The library is dry - and yet with a rich, full body, sound. The best way I can describe it is volumetric and electric. Cheers, Troels
Thats perfect 😊
Runs are magnificent!
Thanks Solyari. I tried covering runs from three angles. First recording up/down runs with round-robin in 4 scales. Secondly creating true run-building and RR based legatos - truly trying to nail those fast movement of fingers and bows. Thirdly offering Ornaments for when the above methods don't cut it. Trying to cover all possible angles, so I know I can get realistic and non-midi sounding runs. So important and where traditional libraries tend to crumble.
@@Soundpaintmusic Absolutely! Thanks for your feedback! Love your art-works developments. Always. It's not just a matter of technical solution but also the soul...for soul-music.
BTW, Great video too. love your historical narrations too :-) Thanks for your continuous effort and perseverance!

@@solyarisoftware Awww. Thank you! I think sampling (in its finest incarnation) is a little artform of its own. It all comes down to love. Like an artisan paying attention to all steps in the creation process. The luthier choosing the very piece of wood he uses. Carefully treating it and shaping it into perfection through 1000s of stages of polish and care. Cheers, T (Ps. I dig the historical stuff too - Disco has a fascinating and deep background)
@@Soundpaintmusic max respect! Chapeau!!
Bravo bravo …no other words
🙌
Cool!
Thank you!
Our pleasure!
This is definitely my kind of vibe. Are there plans of sampling the Coral electric sitar used in the 70s?
Oh! I have not thought of that, since we do have a Sitar in SP already. But I dig the idea! Putting on the list. Cheers, Troels
Troels YOU ARE THE BOMB !!!!! everything you do is just amazing, and this is no exception. Nice frickin" work-- wow! Jasper from Performance Samples should move to Soundpaint ! - My confidence in Kontakt is at an all time low !
We welcome anyone who wants to push the bar in Soundpaint - and thanks Eric! Cheers Troels
I see it should sound great even beyond disco environment.
Yes, exactly. This is a studio strings library - with a particular emphasis on Disco, but just as powerful for Pop, Hip Hop, RnB, Soul, Funk and any other style requiring energetic strings. It works great for classical too - especially for rhythmic, ostinato and/or run based style of writing, which is difficult with traditional multi-samples.
I was just thinking of classical... 😉
Yeah. I will do a video on that too. The ornaments are as much Vivaldi as they are Abba.
💜💜💜💜💜💜
💗💓💙💜💖💝💘♥
Still not had the promised bug fix some 3 weeks down the line.
I'm excited, but a bit scared about the size...
Soundpaint UDS sample size usually super huge...
Disco Studio Strings is 30.5GB - featuring over 33.000 Real-Time Samples.
@@Soundpaintmusic sounds great, looking forrward for the release
So are we - and I am looking forward to making it a permanent stables in my template. New go to for studio violins. Cheers, T
TROELS You have done it again!!!!! Lovely sound, but I am not seeing trills - are trills not part of the library?
Oh we got trills! Half steps, whole steps and minor thirds. We also got trems and our run building legato had RR, so it can do trills too. We got ya - in more then one way! ❤️❤️🕺
@@Soundpaintmusic Fantastic. I'm grabbing this library whenever I'm working on disco/funk cue.
This is fantastic! I've always wanted more freedom for legato time, and it seems this has fantastic range for that. Do you think this library would work for orchestral strings if used right, for faster, more expressive melodies? Like action strings?
Thanks Steve. So yes - this will certainly work for orchestral too. Most of the things played in Disco Strings are as much Vivaldi as they are Bee Gees.
Sorry in advance for the naive question, but how are the strings loaded? Via a player, similar to e.g. Kontakt or other sample players? Also vst3?
Just got the library. I love it, but I'm still trying to adjust to the Soundpaint interface. I'm having two issues: 1. with the browser: if I open a particular catagory ALL catagories open & I'm redirected to the 'Accent' drop down. Forcing me to have to scroll through all subsequent menus to find my sound option 2. with the DS library's beautiful 'Legato Portamento,' anytime I play a note at any velocity any subsequent note withing a Minor 3rd interval will sound at full velocity.
Thanks for supporting us. So there are different ways you can configure the browser. For example if you go to Settings > UI Preferences > Browser Settings.
You can also fast double left click on any main directory to collapse or uncollapse dirs.
All legatos are supported by text and tips - telling you how many legato note intervals are covered for a given program and legato. Some have a wider range than others depending on their intended usage.
The specific portamento you mention was based on Staying Alive by Bee Gees in terms of speed and feeling.
@@Soundpaintmusic THANKS FOR THE REPLY! Though I've only recently started with SP, I've been an 8Dio customer for years & have DOZENS of libraries! Thanks again!
Can I use this pack for fl studio software?
Yes. Soundpaint is compatible with all major DAWS, including FL Studio, Logic, Ableton, Cubase, Studio One, Reaper, Bitwig etc. It comes as both .VST3, .AU, .AAX and as a standalone application too.
Need Disco Brass.
In the deep works.
These are violins only, correct?
Correct
I bought this but the Legato Layered patch feels quite buggy and broken. Sometimes there are quiet sustains in there, and the polyphonic legato doesn't work consistently.
Also the Legato Run Build Long patch releases are very long and can't be shortened with ADSR. Some notes like E4 start late, too.
Yes, f all this AI stuff.
Awwww! You made it to the end doc! 🎓
I can't wait for tomorrow I want it now!!! 🥲😂
We can't wait for you to have it! This is a gem of digital instrument, ironically cause it doesn't feel digital! Cheers, Troels
