- It's posterboard, actually. Close enough. Anyway, here's the history of the United States flag.

Many of you are asking about the "Betsy Ross" flag, which had 13 stars in a circle pattern. But I used the "Francis Hopkinson" grid pattern in this video, which was more common than the circle one. Bob Heft designed the 50 States Flag in 1958 as a high school project. And his design is continuing to flow in American winds 64 years later.

I’m not gonna get into the historical specifics, but let’s just say, even the UK isn’t so innocent, even though they’re trying to “make amends”.(ehem, Bloody Sunday… not mass casualties, 13 deaths, but still something to mention).

The Americans have a terrible habit of disregarding history, they re-write it constantly in their films and books, then argue with the rest of the world when they're disagreed with instead of actually doing any proper research.
The US has stabbed many other countries in the back repeatedly, assisting the Nazis in starting WWII by supplying them with most of the oil needed to fuel the Blitzkreig on Poland and then sitting back and selling weapons to all sides for as long as possible. They didn't even declare war on the Germans, they waited for the Germans to do it. The worst part is that they now insist on strutting around, crowing about how they saved the planet from fascists.
The US education system is substandard and the vast majority of Americans are very ignorant. Ignorant to the point of believing scripture because it's easier to wrap an incapable brain around scripture than it is science.
Wherever corporate America has taken hold in other countries it has been to the detriment of the local population.
The worst part about the USA is that it exports the very worst of it's shallow, greedy and facile culture, from insincere, image-based politics, to fast food, cosmetic surgery and the imposition of it's idea of democracy upon countries that were, until the Americans arrived, stable.
Truly the worst nation on the planet, it's like the stupidest kid in the class has been given the keys to the school bus and now he's out to prove how big and tough he is by running everybody else over.
OK i was born here and i remember constantly being told USA is the best i even remember my first 4th of July and asking what it was about and i found it out it was independence from great Britain and asked so we were British at one point and everyone was quick to say no see the problem with america is they cant even accept the nation that made theirs the UK see not everyone here is blind to how corrupt it is even the American culture is fake i go to high school and at least once every week someone here says something about how American they are that's what american culture is being blind to other nations and bragging. so i looked back at my family history and found out i was British so i decided to subscribe to that culture i even learned a British accent no not because i like it my favorite accent is the new York city accent. i still live here and i see right through it all of it i see through the bible and i hope others here will eventually see through it to.

I was wondering the pattern of the placement of the stars. Glad he cleared that up. Some of those random ones look weird as hell.
The most reasonable guess is Puerto Rico eventually becoming the 51st State.
What was the reason the Canton for the Stars was placed in the upper left corner? Why not center it? Or make it a vertical bar along the entire left edge?

Actually, the colonists technically didn't win. When the brits came back for round two, parliment got squeemish with all the bloodshed and stripped the king of his power so they could stop the war. If they hadn't of usurped the king, we'd be flying the union jack, sipping tea and eating crumpets, and saying things like "cheerio", "right right", "jolly good ole chap", "be back in a fortnight", "arse", playing cricket, rugby, and "football"(soccer), and our pasttimes wound include polo, fox hunts, morris dancing, etc.

Fun fact: the design for the current flag of the USA (50 stars) was created by Robert Heft, a 17 year old high schooler at the time. It was part of a school project and is a pretty cool story considering that the teacher originally gave the Heft a lower grade on the project so I recommend you research it if you haven't heard it before.
